town house - interior
The Town House Suite Da Elisa alle Sette Arti provides accommodation in the historical centre of Lucca and is situated inside its famous walls of 16th century, in one of the most beautiful and elegant areas of the town. The building is located in front of the church of San Micheletto and just 2 minutes walk away from the Orto Botanico (botanical garden) of Lucca and from Villa Bottini.
From Porta Elisa guests can easily reach the town centre through the charming Piazza San Micheletto, where many artistic and musical performances take place, along Villa Bottini, ancient residence of Elisa Baciocchi Napoleon's sister, down through the marvellous Porta San Gervasio, along Via dei Fossi and down to Piazza Santa Maria Bianca, more renowned as Piazza della Colonna Mozza.
Entering the reception hall you will feel the charm of Lucca's historic homes. All rooms features 19th century architecture, fine decorations painted on chandeliered ceilings and floors with wonderfully coloured and patterned tiles.
The kitchen of the property is fully equipped to allow guests to prepare breakfast or for other needs. The reception is open 24 hours and provides fax service and luggage room. Pets are welcome in the property.

Absolutely fantastic find, and very reasonable. there is a restaurant on the walls which is very nice!! The people of Lucca were very friendly although english is not spoken by many!! A phrase book/dictionary is recommended. The Leonardo da Vinci museum is a must and a nice break from all the art. there is so much to see and do in and around Lucca with public transport very cheap. Lucca is a fantastic base for much of Tuscany. Hope to return sometime in the future.

Excellent staying, very comfortable!

Staff pleasant and helpful when anyone was present. Lack of armchairs in the rooms or any public rooms made for uncomfortable evenings. Small improvements such as hooks on the back of the door, and ideally a washbasin in the room would make a big difference. Well placed for restaurants and the railway station. Economical accomodation for a night or two but no more. The nearby restaurants 'Gli Orti' and 'Il Bel Locale' were excellant. Pat and Walter Gundrey.

Da Elisa is a great low budget hotel within walls of city. Five rooms with three bathrooms down hall and also kitchen. The bathrooms got kinda wet for the second or third user. But for the price and kindness of Andrea, cannot complain. We stayed just one nite on way to Cinque Terre. Would not stay there again, rather stay at more upscale, and pay more. This hotel is great for students, etc, who dont mind common bathrooms, etc.

On first arriving I could not access building and had to wait for someone to come out until I could get in. To be fair they do say telephone first but that is not always possible.

It's old, it will need painting, hot in the rooms during summer time but we enjoy our stay

If you want basic, no nonsense accommodation in a convenient within-the-walls location then the Da Elisa is an excellent choice. The room was a little tatty and didn't seem to have had a lick of paint since our last stay in 2002, but we didn't mind, we don't do pristine anyway. And proper towels rather than the tablecloths much derided by Bryson and which we had put up with in our much more expensive stops! Bliss. We're perhaps a bit starry eyed about Da Elisa because we love Lucca so much we'd be happy to sleep on the pavement. But judging by the entries in the Visitor's Book, most people feel like we do.

A very good cheap hotel. Although no en-suite, the toilets and showers were just across the corridor. Good budget accomodation.

Gott weiß, was die da machten.

Overall I enjoyed our room. However, since it faced the main street, it was quite noisy at night. Also, the shower head in one of the bathrooms was not fitted tightly so when one member of our group showered, she got water all over the bathroom and even out into the hallway. She mopped up what she could, but there was no one to tell this to. Finally, the next morning, it would have been good to have someone at the front desk a little earlier than 10:00, since we wanted to tour the city and had to return to our room to check out in the middle of our tour. I think if we had been in any room other than the one we had it would have been quieter, and the location of your hotel is very good. I would stay there agin if there were just two of us instead of three. Your lady at the desk was quite kind, and gave us a vary good recommendation for dinner (and she even made reservations for us).

The bathrooms and entry were a bit grim, but the rooms were clean and pleasant. We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and enjoyed our stay. We did have a bit of trouble locating the property and would have enjoyed a map or directions.

"Da Elisa alle sette arti" is a nice place to rest for a low badget and a good service.

Very basic accommodation but good value for money. No tv in rooms and very quiet all round. Great central location but I think I'd pay more next time to stay somewhere with more facilities.

We had a pleasant and rewarding stay and will definitely consider staying there again if we return to Lucca

Not welcoming from the outside. Room was clean and reasonably spacious but decor needed some attention. Having to cross reception to get to the bathroom for a shower was an inconvenience. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Wonderful, large room with stenciled wall and ceiling (#4). The windows opened onto one of the few streets that allow cars in Lucca. But it was quiet at night. The kitchen was very basic, but usable, though we chose to eat out. Bathrooms relatively clean and always available. We enjoyed our stay.

This place was a nice place to stay. There were 3 shared bathrooms and our bed was very comfortable. I would recommend this place to stay.
