Nice place to be. Perfect for a long 'cheap' holiday. Fridge in the room can provide a perfect help. The center with all monuments is at walking distance. Gianpaolo, the owner, is very nice and makes you feel at home. Two concerns: the noise at night coming form the road below and the shower in the middle of the room with no wall. But all together I would reccomend it!

When we arrived, it took us some time to find the guest house because there is no exterior sign. Then the owner took us to his sister's hotel across the street which turned to be a 2-star hotel. We like everything about the hotel except that the shower and WC is not inside the room. The breakfast was so good.

A great place that feels very friendly and cosy. Very easy to reach from the statione and a nice 15 minut walk to the important sights in Firenze. Even closer to the big food market, Quite noise street, but hey..it's Italia! Many other hotels/hostels in the area, but this one must offer the best quality vs. price!! "Ridolfi", the owner, and wife is very nice and helpful and they speaks great English. Clean, BIG rooms. Typical standard breakfast.
Great place if you want to see Firenze a few days and not spend much money on a hotel.

It has been our first time to Florence. We stayed for 3 nights. Everything was as expected. When we got to Ridolfi guest house around 10pm (as we announced), we found a small note behind the door bell that we can book in a hotel just opposite the street. We were given the key from our room there, so it wasn´t a problem. The room was spacious, clean, with shower, fridge. The toilet was just opposite the hall. The breakfast was adequate - tea, coffee, bread, jam, pastry or biscuits, sometimes yougurt. The only negative side was the noise of the traffic from the street but I suppose Florence in noisy in general. We had a lovely stay there.

We had an excellent room - we couldn't have been happier with it. However, despite my reserving months in advance, upon arrival the owner put us up in a different nearby hotel, as someone else was still in our room (I guess they double booked). The other hotel was TERRIBLE and we were not at all impressed that our reserved room wasn't available. But when we finally did get our room at Ridolfi, we were very pleased with it (and wish that we had gotten to stay there the entire time).

No frills, but perfect location and place for a nice getaway to Florence. Very home-feeling.
Don't take the place if you don't like this: it's on the 4th floor, breakfast is not fantastic, WC is shared (but kept very clean and very nice, with fresh paper towels all the time)
Take it if you like this: cheap, but clean, tidy, taken care of, family feeling, couple of minutes walking from Florence downtown and the train station, but still in a quiet area, room is spacious in an old typical Florence house, which adds to the 'room with a view' feeling.
We are 100% sure we go back there next time. It was a great experience.

We had a very comfortable stay here Oct 2005. While it was a bit basic it proved more than adequate for our needs. Nice clean spacious room with bathroom just across the hall. We had a fridge ,table and chairs so we could make snacks between outings. The kitchen was available 24/7 to everyone. It was more of a "home from home" than a guest house.
I cannot praise Giampaolo enough. He was so helpful. If you are on a budget, want to be within walking distance of the centre this is the place to book.

The place is not far from the train station, maybe 10 min walk. The room in which we stayed was quite large and could accomodate at least 5-8 people, so more than enough space. Gianpaolo was such a generous and kind host, we would stay with him again for sure!

Ridolfi guest house was a wonderful place to arrive at. Gianpa(olo) the owner was genuinely friendly and very helpful, explaining the route from the train station to the guest house (8 mins) on the phone, recommending places to visit, and even recommending radio channels for us to listen.
The guest house is close to the market and all the attractions (<10 mins walk to the Duomo), the rooms are clean and VERY big, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and all in a very affordable price. We will definately stay there when visiting Firenze in the future.
Gianpa, if you read this, many thanks for your hospitality, Monterigionni was great ;)

Website stated that we would have a private bath, but this was located across the hall. We noticed people were using our bathroom and suggest that the owner provide a key to the bathroom to ensure privacy. Traffic noise in the room was terrible. Be sure to bring ear plugs as you will not be able to sleep. The hotel is very conviently located to the train station and located close to the Central Market (great place for souviner shopping). Beds were not very comfortable. Word of caution to those with heavy luggage, there was 3 floor(therefore many stair)to climb to reach the hotel. However, service was good and owner was courtious and provided us with maps and useful directions.

If you are looking for a private atmosphere, very centered, clean and cheap in price, this is the best you can find! We enjoyed our stay very much and will stay in the same premises again next time we visit bella Firenze.

This place is bare bones simple and great for the budget traveler trying to stretch every dime. If you expect any type of amenity, don’t come here. Instead, try one of the millions of other accommodations Florence has to offer.

For the price we paid in high season the room was good and clean, with a good bed, perfectly clean linen and towels. The location was (as described) excellent, the patron very helpful and easygoing. Surprisingly for the centre of Florence the room was very quiet (looking out on a leafy back yard) - another positive point. I would go back there any time

Our host was very helpful and the room was large with 4 single beds. The bathroom was accross the hall way which was a little inconvenient and the noise of traffic from the street outside was difficult to get use to but all in all we had a lovely stay. The accommodation was reasonably central too.

the hotel is near the florence train station. it's about a 10 minute walk from the station. The place was very cool. It's really only about 4-5 bedrooms. Some guests had to share a toilet. This was the only negative about the hotel. The guy who runs the place is really great, very friendly. The rooms were nice and clean. The same thing goes for the bathroom. Guy who runs the place makes breakfast for the guest. A really good deal for the amount we paid. Although the hotel is not in central florence, the town is not that big and it is very possible to walk from one end of town to the other in 45 minutes.

Good sized room in guesthouse situated in walking distance of station and centre. Furnishings very basic and ensuite facilities consisted of basin, bidet and tiny shower behind paper screen. Shared WC's in hallway.Wish we had checked out 2star hotels regarding comparable prices as no breakfast,no air-conditioning and shared WC's. Price might have been fair for Florence but expensive compared to both Pisa and Milan where we also stayed on this trip.

Rooms very spacious AND functional at a central location (well, Florence is fairly small) from which to base yourself.
Bitten by mosquitos most nights but that is no fault of the guest house other than by the fact that they have no nets.
There was a shower/bidet and sink in the room which had a partition between that and the rest of the room.
Breakfast was standard for Italy-coffee and bread.
Owner VERY friendly and helpful.
All in all, offers GREAT value for money

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ridolfis'. Everything was as expected, and even better. The rooms are neat and clean, a fan is in the room. TV only offers italian channels... but who goes to Firenze to watch TV?
The guy keeping the Ridolfis', Giampaolo is a very "zen", very nice and helping guy. He can procure you any info you need to have a good stay in this beautiful town.
Giampaolo, if you read this: Greetings!
I'd recommend Ridolfi Guest house to anyone.

We had a wonderful time here. The manager was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was very large and comfortable. It had a pleasant fan (temperatures were very hot!). We really liked the location. The only problem was street noise. Inside was very quiet--we had no idea anyone else was staying there. We would definitely stay there again.

Overall, the Ridolfi guest house was a great stay for my girlfriend and I. The breakfast was very basic and can be improved on a bit.
Also, it would have helped to have a pay phone or some phone access in the premises.

Great location away from the main tourist areas but close to the markets and great restaurants. Train station only 5 minutes walk. Ideal location for attending a conference at the Fortezza, I stayed there alone for several days before my friends joined me and left completely safe. On the map it appears to be far from the centre but Florence is quite small so it was only a 10 minute walk from all the attractions, lots to see along the way. Check out the bats in the park at night!
