This hotel is fairly nice and also reasonably priced. There isn't a lot to do at the hotel other than hanging out at the nice pool, which I recommend. This hotel seems to be visited primarily by older Germans, who spend lots of time sitting by the pool. I recommend actually swimming in the pool and looking at the lizards running around. The breakfast wasn't my favorite- I'd prefer better quality to quantity. However, there is a nice Italian restaurant directly opposite the hotel (Nettuno) that I recommend (for dinner.) There is also a tiny park next door that you can take walks in, or try to jog (only about 0.7 miles total so lots of joggers are criss-crossing the park). To get downtown, just go behind the Casino in the park and take the numerous flights of stairs straight down the side of the hill. The downtown is fairly touristy- not my favorite thing to see, but not much else is going on in the area. This hotel isn't too fun for kids, or maybe anyone other than the retired sunbathers, but it is clean and has a nice pool, and the park next door is a bonus. If you're reasonably healthy, much is in walking distance (Loro Parque and the beach- about 25 min. walk). The main drawbacks (1) the extensive remodeling going on which means lots of noise during the day. The benefit is that the rooms are pretty new. (2) the ONLY internet access is one computer in the lobby that you have to drop coins into (I've never seen that). It's expensive too. However you can walk 15 minutes downtown and find an internet cafe for 1/3 the price. Lack of internet is NOT a good feature for the business traveler who needs to stay in touch for work (as I needed to). (3) the hotel only turns on air conditioning for a few hours a day. It gets hot in the night, but opening the door lets in the sound of locally barking dogs (bring earplugs!)
