If you chose to stay at Villa Degli Dei, be prepared to have difficulty finding it. Venere now has a map on their website, but more importantly, Degli Dei needs a sign at the bottom of the hill in Positano. We arrived in Positano by rental car from the airport in Naples. After driving back and forth, and asking many locals where Degli Dei was, we found it is located at the top of a hill (20 min. slow, narrow winding drive). Look for a sign that says Nochelle at the bottom of the hill. Drive to the top and when you can't go any farther, park in the small parking lot. There are stairs (119, we counted) down. Take stairs and follow walkway. Walk past a small market, then a tiny restaurant (called Rist. Santa Croce). Continue to walk down a narrow walkway. You'll see a beautiful ceramic tile sign Degli Dei next to a gate.
As far as the accomodations, they were fine for us, but we are low-maintainence types who were pretty much gone all day. The room was quite small, and had a small kitchen which we never used, except to store our leftovers and wine. The bathroom was quite small and the shower was a cylinder with no door - a little chilly when showering. We did enjoy the patio overlooking the ocean. It was a lovely place to sit and sip wine, journal the days events, and gaze out over the beautiful sea. One of the owners picked me figs from the tree - yum! There was another small group of people there. Everyone we met was friendly; most were asking us for directions (ironically)!
Other ideas: Don't take too much stuff - you have to carry it down (and up) those 119 stairs! Take the bus, which picks up folks at the end of the parking lot at the top of those 199 stairs. For a couple Euro, it will take you all around Positano and back up the hill to Nochelle when you are done eating, sightseeing, shopping. Degli Dei gave us maps and bus timetables. St. Croche was a wonderful place for all meals. Delicious food, good value, attentive service. From Positano we visited Pompei

Although a wonderful place to stay with great facilities and excellent views, the web page should have warned about the drive up to the property from Positano and to the difficult walk from the carpark.

This was a nice place to stay, however, it was marketed as being in Positano. Please know that it is in Nocelle, a quiet little town about 20 minutes away. While we enjoyed staying outside of the hustle and bustle of Positano, we didn't realize where the location of the hotel was when we booked it. Don't shy away from this cute, true Italian town, but know that you will have to take a bus in and out of town. That's why it is cheaper than other Positano spots.
