The hotel room was small, basic and uninspiring. The pillows were thin, the bed uncomfortable. It was a clean hotel and a good location but not worth the price.

We stayed in Porto for two nights at Grande Hotel Porto. The people at the front desk were not very helpful or considerate when we first checked in. They said the parking lot was full when we got there at 1pm on Saturday and were told to park in the public parking at 2e/hour. The hotel did not seem busy during this time. As soon as we entered our room, there was a very bad smell. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom so the shower curtains reeked badly. The room is very dark (they should try a lighter color bedspread rather than navy) and when we open the windows for more light and to air out the room, the shouting and noise from the streets below echo loudly in the room. The good side is that there is a wonderful buffet breakfast each morning with much to choose from. Since we had an early flight on Monday, the front desk had our pre-made breakfast sent up to our room the night before.

A faded, jaded hotel displaying flashes of it's former glory with a surprisingly good and reasonably priced dining room

"Old style" hotel, it seems to be in an early XIX^ century ambiance. Very weel located, next to subway and cableway (relaxing with a good landscape, and really useful because the hotel stands in the upper part of the city), offers the fascination of Rua de Santa Catarina, one of the most ancient and caracteristic roads of the city. I didn't like the breakfast, too poor in variety and quality.

Hotel storico ma tenuto benissimo. Ristorante lussuoso e accogliente. Posizione centrale ma il parcheggio non si trova nell'hotel. Personale molto gentile e disponibile. Consigliato a tutti.

It is one of the oldest hotel in the city of Porto. The entrance may not be easily found on the busy street as it is kind of narrow, but it is really spacious inside. It is well maintained and suitable for those enjoy the classical atomosphere.

Old fashioned hotel but with quite some charm, well located but need more spacious rooms. Price versus quality is perfect... Worth to stay in Grand Hotel de Porto

The hotel was just as I expected. The staff was more than I expected! They were friendly, helpful and enjoyed my simple attempts at Portugese. The hotel sits on one of the most active shopping streets and bussled with native and foreign peoples so it was delightful to fall into the crowds and soak up the day to day life of Oporto! I walked everywhere and never took the same route to the river in the 5 days that I had to enjoy the city and environs. If you have only one chance to enjoy Portugal, try to make that happen for you in Oporto. And if you want to be welcomed and enjoy a taste of true Portugese hospitality, make your stay be at the Hotel Grand Hotel do Porto!! I believe you will not be disappointed.

perfect location in the city and also really quiet, friendly and competent employees, what I did not like the old carpets in the hotel, for the rest everything was nice

The hotel is actually more than a block away from where it is indicated on the city map. As Porto is full of one way streets, we gave up trying to reach the hotel by car (after 2 hours of trying), and found it on foot. The hotel provided a staff member to guide us back in the car. This entailed ignoring street signs and driving on a pedestrial mall! The hotel staff seemed unaware of streets closed off for road work, and none could agree on a route to take us out of town on the following day.

A lovely hotel in a good location. The hotel provided us with a bottle of wine and a plate of fruit to mark my birthday. The breakfasts, however, were disappointing
