My friend and I stayed at the Berliner Zimmer for 6 days and loved the experience! The hotel is located in a central and safe area, and is well served by public transportation.
Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, the property was clean and comfortable and the staff helpful and accomodating. The room's furnishing were old, but in good repair.
We also liked the fact that the other guests came from many parts of Germany and Europe and consisted of business travelers on a budget and tourists alike. The ambiance was very family-oriented and the property is very safe.
I would recommend this property to friends on a budget.

We ordered a room with WC and no shower but received the opposite. Large confortable family room with high ceiling BUT on third floor (NO LIFT) and only 150 metres approx from noisy main rail line. A huge selection for breakfast compensated and its OK for one or two nights. Shares identity with EDEN pension.Staff friendly and helpful.

The room at Pension Berliner Zimmer is in need of upgrading and is a potential fire trap as there was loose electrical wiring hidden behind the curtains and a loose electric power point behind the lounge chair. Could not establish whether it was live or not.
Location of shower and shower facility appear to be an afterthought for this particular room.
Plumbing needs to be looked at,as on occasions we got hot water from the cold tap and warm water from the cold tap.On one occasion there was no hot water at all for the shower and only after lodging a complaint did that facility improve. There is alot of dust under the bed near the bed head which tends to indicate cleaning of rooms is not as thorough as it could be. Wall paper is dated and cupboards in room are not functioning the way they should. While the breakfast met our expectations, we very strongly disliked other guests smoking in the breakfast room, it spoiled our enjoyment of breakfast. For the faclities offered we felt the accomodation was overpriced. However location suited us extremely well.

The location of the hotel is superior, and its greatest recommendation (but breakfast is good, too!). Payment is in cash only, a fact which I found out only upon checking in (and that is perhaps a fact that would have changed my selection of the hotel). As I stayed for 4 days, the amount due was large enough to necessitate going to a bank for money. When reserving a room, I urge people who care about having a toilet in the room to specify so. I only specified a shower, and the first room I was given had a shower but no toilet. The proprietor was very nice, however, about giving me a second room. The toilet cost an additional 10 euros a day, though. The staff was quite friendly, but if guests do not speak German, requests and questions will be VERY hard to convey (luckily I carried a German phrasebook). NO ONE at the hotel speaks any English (luckily the information booth at the airport had a gentleman who was kind enough to call to find out the hotel's exact location). My room was huge (a luxury for a single traveler), and overall a comfortable place to live for 4 nights.

I enjoyed my stay a great deal and will stay there again. I had a small single room, but was shown a couple of rooms that are HUGE. Irene, who greeted me and gave me the keys is an incredibly lovely lady and made me feel like I was living at home in this place which is right in the center of town, with plenty to do right outside the door. This is an old Pension and every room is different and a bit eccentric, I would say the quality to price relationship is as good as it gets.

Though breakfast is from 8-10 they let us come early our last day so we could make it to the airport.
The only downside for us was rooms on the third floor and no elevator in the building which is 19th century.

Good value for its central location in a capital city with good transport links.
Did not stay in the Berliner Zimmer itself but its adjacent pension Eden... Would have preferred to stay in Berlin Zimmer.
Furnishings very old fashioned and dowdy but functional...except for the modern water heater for our shower. Beds very comfortable. Good breakfast. Quaint.
