The overall hotel was fine, small and friendly. We had a room overlooking the street which was a little noisy, but the main interruptions came from the hotel buzzer both late at night and early in the morning I assume when the staff were changing shifts. There was also noise from a television in the room next door which was quite loud. However the location was good, just near a metro stop and walking distance to the Vatican, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Excellent. kind ,helpful, hardworking young staff. In a local neighbourhood-small ,interesting shops, fresh food markets and restaurants. Close to Vatican and next to underground which is a 4 minute ride to the centre .

The rooms are well furnished, but the double room we had was small had had very little natural light. Great location for the metro and the Vatican, but overall not great value for money.

Beds were hard, but that's about par for the course everywhere. Good breakfast in the morning, good location right near the metro stop and Vatican. I thought that this hotel was a steal for the price.

Excellent location: only two blocks from Vatican. There are buses to everywhere at the hotel's street and a metro stop only one block away.

The stay at this hotel was in the main very good. It is a small, well run and friendly hotel located on a very busy street close to the Vatican city. Staff were very efficient, friendly and appeared to go out of their way to assist. The majority spoke English which was a great help. The rooms were well appointed although not as large as I would have liked, however, I wasn't there to spend time in the room. The down side is that this hotel is very difficult to locate unless you know where to look. It is situated behind parked vehicles and trees and identified by a relativley small, unlit Brass sign. Also the reception is located on the first floor (not signed). For the disabled or with heavy bags it could be difficult to reach. All things considered, I would stay at this hotel again without any hesitation.

I have a very mixed review for this hotel because of only one mishap that cascaded into a lot of disappointment. But for that, the hotel was quite nice, well-located near inexpensive street cafes and stores, very close to metro, beautifully decorated, great breakfast, and staff was very kind and helpful to the extreme. As other reviewers noted, it was a bit difficult to find, but our GPS got us there. Parking is available, but that too is difficult to locate. There is no elevator, but staff were very helpful in carrying our bags upstairs. The problem was that the hotel advertised air conditioning, but when we arrived we were told the air conditioning was shut down by August 31. Unfortunately it was still quite warm and with the double-glazed windows closed to shut out the noise from the street below (which was quite effective), the spacious triple room was very very hot. We all had a difficult time sleeping. When I asked about the air the hotel staff apologized over and over again. To make up for this, the hotel staff moved us to another room that was much smaller and very cramped. The staff thought that the air conditioner in that room was going to be fixed but it wasn't. Despite that, they moved us anyway, from a spacious triple with three beds (as we had booked) to a small double with a cot (which we did not want at all) and still charged us the triple rate. Apparently we were moved because the staff had shifted other guests into the triple that we were in. I simply don't know what to think about this except that I was, ultimately, greatly disappointed. If the air conditioning had been working, if we hadn't been forced to switch rooms, if we hadn't been forced to pay the same price for a much smaller and just as hot room, this would have been a great hotel and my reviews would all have been up in the 9s and 10s.

I had a great stay at the Gattopardo Relais. Just next to the Ottaviano-S. Pietro metro and a mere 15 minute walk away from the Vatican, Gattopardo's location is excellent, and it is not difficult to find at all. As a single woman traveller, I felt safe in the neighbourhood, and was impressed by the personal attention, professionalism, warmth and hospitality shown to guests by the staff including Christina, Paulo and Maurizia. The room was spacious, the facilities very good, and the breakfast (croissants, cheese, ham and fabulous cappuccino) a good way to start the day. I would certainly stay there again and highly recommend this townhouse to other travellers. Grazie mille to the staff at Gattopardo. Denise from Singapore.

An excellent small hotel, well situated for central Rome. Room and welcome both excellent. Only minor fault in my book was a slightly cramped breakfast room.

This hotel was a disappointment. Hotel access was awkward because of having to ring a bell. The breakfasts were skimpy at best. The air conditioning was insufficient for the hot Roman temperatures. There were no fans available to mitigate the lack of air conditioning. When I complained and asked for a discount because of the hot rooms, the clerk refused. When I asked to talk to a manager, the clerk also refused. The price was too high for the value received.

This six-room "boutique" hotel was in a great, safe location right next to the Ottaviano-San Pietro Metro stop as well as a scant three-block walk to the Musei di Vaticani. It was quiet, clean and well-kept with modern conveniences, a decent television (though with limited channels--and only a couple in English). an in-room safe for smaller valuables, a large, marble-lined bathroom (ours had only a shower, but they do have rooms with a bathtub as well), and a comfortable bed. The proprieteresses were at the front desk every day and could give decent English directions for museums, walking tours, sites, etc. The daily continental breakfast was plentiful and was available until well after 9AM. Different coffees were made to order--including both "Americano" and capuccino varieties. Credit cards accepted included American Express--which I was pleased to see as they have limited use in Italy and Europe in general. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at il Gattopardo Relais and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

By far, this was the best facility we have ever stayed at for the price. i would have expected to pay 50% more for a similar property anywhere in Europe. The staff was excellent. Parking was difficult upon arrival, but once the car was in the garage we were so close to everything we could walk. The subway was only 1 block from the room so that was very convenient. It was unbelievable that the facility was in such a busy place yet was so VERY quite in the room. This would be my first choice if I am ever in Rome again. If Pasquale and Barbara owned another facility I would stay there with no questions asked.

Excellent room only hotel, friendly and secure, first floor - no lift, they bring your bags up and down for you. Very close to a Metro and look for the number of the building not for the hotel by name, Very close to the Vatican and central to all else Roman. Excellent local restaurants and good tourist restaurants within a few paces. Very pleasent and very helpful owners. Have recommended to friends.

We were driving and had a very hard time finding the hotel. There is no hotel sign outside so we kept driving by it. Finally, I got out of the car and walked around until I found it. Remember this if you are driving. The rooms were the best we stayed in and very quite. The location was pefect for us as well since we spent most of the time at the vatican. Great place, hard to find though.

You will not find a nicer owner and manager. We enjoyed our stay so much Barbara and Pasq went above and beyond to make our visit a pleasure. We were going to go back to Rome for a final day and would not have spent the night anywhere else. My parents are older and have special needs. They were all taken care of. If there is one draw back it is the one flight of stairs to the hotel. But, they were not a set back.

The hotel was extremely well located and easy to find (in spite of other reader's difficulties). Very centrally located with a metro just a few yards away however, all well known sites were within walking distance, the furthest only 45 minutes walk away. The staff were extremely curteous, informative and helpful at all times (even out of hours). The environment didn't feel like a traditional hotel but more homely. Would and have recommended to others.

Had a wonderful stay at Il Gattopardo Relais. Pasquale greeted me by name, carried my bags up the flight of stairs. I arrived mid-morning, and rooms were being cleaned. I left my bags at the hotel and went exploring the neighborhood. The directions to the hotel provided by others were very helpful. Be aware the street numbers across the street don't directly correlate but knowing it was difficult to find kept me prepared. When my friend arrived, the taxi driver called the hotel from outside to find it. The only notation of the hotel is on the buzzer. The rooms were the cleanest I have stayed in all my travels. Pasquale and Barbara and staff were all helpful and friendly. My friend and I even were greeted with flowers in our room one evening. We enjoyed walking back to the hotel late at night passing St. Peter's and felt very safe in the neighborhood. Also a nice friendly, reasonably-priced Pizzeria is on the same block - Bella Napoli. It was a wonderful stay in Rome, highlighted by our experience at this hotel.

This is a small family run bed and breakfast like "hotel". It is a beautiful place and made even better with the hospitality and graciousness of the owner, Pasquale and Barbara. We had a wonderful stay with them and the place was literally our home away from home. Don't be mislead by the first impression from the street (it was a bit scary when we got there late at night). The hotel is on the first floor and it is truly a beautiful and warm place. It is near the Rome metro, and only a short distance from the Vatican Museum. The surrounding areas have good shopping and eateries. Would definitely stay there again next time.

This is a small and intimate hotel; quiet, attractively decorated and with an attentive staff. Pasquale, the owner, was most helpful in giving us directions and advice. Their breakfast was excellent, by Italian standards, with juice, cereal, cold meats, cheese, rolls, yogurt and, of course, coffee and tea. Staying there for three days was a restful beginning to our three weeks in Italy. We would definitely return.

This was an exeptional hotel with more of the feel of a bed and breakfast because of the incredible hospitality of the owners, Pasquale and Barbara. We stayed in the Lampedusa, a very large and exquisitely decorated room. Wireless high speed internet access was a bonus. We were able to walk to all the major attractions from there and the metro stop was conveniently right on the corner. The best hotel that I've stayed in in Rome and would definitely want to stay there again!

This place is excellent and safe. The proprietors were gracious, helping us with all aspects of our stay in Rome. The place is newly remodeled and the rooms are clean and beautifully decorated with internet access. A lovely hotel, however there is no elevator and carrying one's luggage up 1 1/2 flights of winding stairway is difficult. Also, the air conditioning was almost non-existent. It was very warm in our room, and nothing could be done to make it cooler. The people, however, are warm and generous. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat, but not in the summer.

Very charming hotel with spacious rooms. Cordial, friendly, and accomodating staff. Location was convenient to both Vatican and Metro stop. We very much enjoyed our stay at Il Gattopardo Relais. The staff was very welcoming, helpful, and available 24/7 if needed. They have a great breakfast nook and served excellent cappucino and pastries. It is conveniently located near a metro station and within walking distance of the Vatican. The only drawback was noise, but with the shutters closed at night, it was not a problem. Would stay there again.

A lovely, homely hotel with very friendly staff. We stayed 5 nights for our honeymoon and they gave us a free bottle of champagne to celebrate! Only slight negatives were that for the price I would have expected a cooked breakfast as an option, though the pastries etc offered were very nice. Also if you stay in one of the rooms at the front of the hotel, the noise from the traffic is slightly audible through the double glazing, though only a problem if you want to open the window for fresh air, as the rooms do have air conditioning. Overall a lovely place to stay though - the owners take a lot of pride in their hotel and it is very convenient for the Vatican and getting on the Metro. Also very nice pizza / pasta restaurant a few doors down, and a good vegetarian restaurant 10 mins walk away, if you like veggie food!

This boutique hotel appears to be the result of converting a large second-floor apartment on a busy street in a quality area just north of the Vatican. Each time you want to enter, you ring the doorbell at the entrance to the apartment block. The breakfast provides a limited selection of food, but the quality of this food is truly superb, and so too is the service. The bed was very firm, and would be ideal for back-pain sufferers who believe in this remedy.

I can't tell you what a great value this is.The owners service is wonderful and what great people they are! The rooms are clean and the bathrooms are great. It's within 2 blocks of the vatican and 100 meters to the metro. The restaurant around the block that they suggested was the best meal I've had in years and I didn't pay tourist prices. I took cards to my travel agent to reccomend this to other clients This is the place to stay in Rome!!!

A wonderful hotel, perfectly located for the Vatican, but also easy to reach all the other sites of Rome using the number 23 bus. The Hotel can be a bit tricky to find, if you walk more the 100m from the metro, you're walking the wrong way down the road!! The staff were brilliant - very helpful and welcoming. We were a bit concerned whether Lorenzo ever got any sleep - he seemed to be there 24 hours a day! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to others. We will be back!

I booked the hotel for my wife and I , for our 30th Wedding Anniversary, based on the comments of other customers. We were not disappointed! Barbara upgraded us to the suite as it was a special occasion. The champagne I ordered was ready and chilled on arrival. All the rooms are individual, everywhere is very clean. Breakfast can be a bit crowded, as the area is small, but you can have the meal in your room if you like. The hosts, Barbara and Pasquale spoke better English than I did Italian, so there was no problem there! Lorenzo was an absolute star, nothing was too much trouble, he was very helpful, and remembered our individual preferences. The hotel is near the Vatican, near shops, and only a few hundred meteres from the Metro which gets you anywhere for 1 Euro!. All in all a wonderful stay, I would recommend this small, friendly, individual hotel to anyone.

Location, Condition and Attention... This six month old family owned and operated hotel was perfect for our honeymoon. Located just north of Vatican City, you are just far enough away from the noise of the city, but close enough to walk anywhere. For those who care not to walk as much - the Metro station is 1 1/2 blocks east of the hotel. There are several good places to eat within a block or two. The accommodations and condition of the hotel were superb. Our room had a full size tub with shower assembly and enough space to walk around and feel comfortable. The only negative would be that the water pressure of the shower was harder than we are used to, but there was plenty of hot water for a bath. Everything is extremely well kept and the towels are nice and warm. The one thing my husband requested concerning our accommodations was for the hotel not to feel like a hotel but more of a home away from home. Well, the owners and staff made accomplishing this easy. They were always willing to help whether it was for preparing coffee at breakfast, making reservations at restaurants or the theater, providing information about the city, early wake up on departure, or getting a cab, etc.
