A multi award-winning hostel, we have been voted in the top ten hostels in the world. We think this is because we provide fantastic hostel accommodation in comfortable surroundings and our futuristic design theme offers an exciting backdrop to your stay. We can accommodate our guests in singles, twins, multi bedded rooms and dormshare all in bunk bed style. Wash basins are provided in every room, and there are plenty of toilets and hot showers on every floor for use 24 hours a day.

If you don't want to party you can enjoy our quieter communal areas including the internet room and 'turbine', where we have pool tables and televisions.

Don't worry if you haven't planned the rest of your trip. We have a Travel desk here at The Generator where you can buy day trips to all the major tourist attractions in England, as well as bus tours to Scotland, Ireland and the rest of Europe.

    i've been really impressed by Generator, it has a great location and the building itself is young and fun. Rooms are comfortable and clean (with parquet on floor, and not the awful dirty moquette found in other hostels!!)

    Generator London is a total dive and is only slightly redeemed by the nicer common areas. The hallways reeked of sewage and the room was so spartanly furnished that it was impossible to be in when I was awake. In any other city this place would cost 10 Euro a night, but in London its 80 Euro. You should pay double for a nicer place if you can at all afford it because it will be worth it.

    Don't go here, only when you like being ripped off. I was charged the stated (an already hefty) 150 pound rate for a room for 3 nights in the euro currency, which added an extra 5 pounds to the bill as an exchange rate fee. This is not normal; an amount in pounds in the UK should be charged in pounds. The transaction was only processed this way to take an extra 7 euros (or 5 pounds) from me. Perhaps not an enormous amount, but very irritating. There were no towels despite the fact that it is stated on the website that towels would be issued. 'We stopped doping that' was the comment. A towel could be bought for 2,50 pounds.

    HOW TO REACH THE HOTEL
    Heathrow Airport: Take the Piccadilly Line tube direct to Russell Square.

    Gatwick Airport: Take the Gatwick Express train to Victoria Station. From there take the Victoria Line tube to Green Park and change onto the Piccadilly Line to Russell Square. Stansted Airport: Take the Stansted Express/Skytrain to Liverpool Street Station. From there take the Metropolitan, Circle or Hammersmith and City Line tube to King's Cross and change onto the Piccadilly Line to Russell Square.

    From the train or tube station: Russell Square Tube Station (the closest): Cross over the road to Marchmont Street, walk 150 metres and take the second right into Tavistock Place. Walk 60 metres to 37 Tavistock Place and turn left under archway into Compton Place.

    King's Cross (Station and Tube): Turn right out of station into Euston Road. Walk 100 metres, take second left, Judd Street. Walk 150 metres to first set of traffic lights, turn right into Tavistock Place. Walk 40 metres to 37 Tavistock Place and turn right under archway into Compton Place.

    Euston Station: Turn left into Euston Road, walk 200 metres, take 4th right into Judd Street then follow directions from above.

    HOTEL POLICIES
    METHODS OF PAYMENT
    Venere.com does not debit your credit card for your reservations. You will be asked to insert your credit card details which will be sent to the property only as a guarantee of the reservation. The bill will then have to be settled directly at the hotel. In case your chosen hotel needs a deposit, this information will be included in the "Cancellation policy" section and the deposit will have to be settled directly with the pre-selected property. You cannot cancel your reservation if you selected and booked a non refundable or prepaid rate.
     
    CANCELLATION POLICY
    Cancellation is 24 hours before arrival date. If you do not cancel within 24 hours your credit card will be charged for the first night.
