Hotel Hellenia Yachting - Giardini Naxos

I have enjoyed staying at the Hellenia Yachting. Cleanliness, noise level (none), service, location, surroundings, beach, views, all were excellent. So was the food at the restaurant. The only problem was Air-Conditioning. In July and a major heat wave, the room was too hot and humid. Also, the room did not provide items available nowadays in any 4 star hotel such as tissue paper, hair softner, body lotion. Other items, e.g., soap, shampoo, were too small and of moderate quality.

I was very disappointed with the room I was allocated. I did only book a standard double rather than a superior double, but it was very small compared with other 4* hotels I have experienced recently. I gained the impression from observing other guests, that if you were with a holiday company, you got a better room because the holiday company had more influence over the hotel. If you were a private booker like me, you got stuffed on the 4th or 5th floor where the rooms were much smaller. The ensuite bathroom was definately only 2* quality. The air conditioning was only on for about 12 hours a day and so you found yourself waking up in a sweat in the early hours of the morning because the air-con had gone off. When a business party visited the hotel for a long weekend, the air-con was on 24 hours. The food provided at breakfast was aimed mainly at the german clientelle who were in the majority. That said, apart from the air-con, the hotel was perfectly comfortable and quite impressive. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the location was quiet. Restaurants across the road allowed one to escape the prices of the hotel restaurant (25 euros/head evening meal, 3 euros for a coke; 0.6 earos for a coke in the supermarket opposite). The Hellenia hotel was definitely the best hotel we saw in the area and greatly to be preferred over the Ramada next door.
