The internet connection in the room is totally no working.I have to pay for it, but I have to use internet in the lobby only. It's quite inconvenient for business trip purpose. But if for holiday, it's a nice and convenient place. And some people in the reception is really nice and friendly.

The breakfast is good and the bar/breakfast room has a nice athmosphere.
Unfortunately, the windows of the Hotel Metropol are not soundproof. Since the Hotel located directly at a crossroads with high traffic, the noise comes almost unfiltred into the room. Another disadvantage is the absence of internet connection (wireless or cable) and heating control in the rooms

A basic, no-frills hotel from the cold war era that offers decent service for the price. Rooms are refurbished. Everything was clean and orderly. Breakfast was more than adequate, but not as extravagant as what you get in Jan III Sobieski, for example. I stayed on sixth floor overlooking ul. Marszalkowska. Some noise did filter into the room but it was not a sleep-stopper for me. Location is close to the central station, as well as a Sphinx right across the street.

When I arrived the staff looked confused but found my booking immediately and I was offered smoking or non-smoking. I took non-smoking and given a room number and floor and pointed in the direction of the lift. A bit more help would have been appreciated. The room I was allocated was on 6th floor which was no problem as I like peace and quiet, but it was dark and very dated and a bit oppressive. On the plus side it was clean and reasonably comfortable. At night it was noisy from outside traffic which went on all through the night - especially sirens from the emergency services. I am very light sleeper so I found this difficult to cope with. The breakfast was good with lots of choice and the service was quick. All in all the hotel is at a reasonable price and in a good location. Would I stay there again? Yes, but next time I will take earplugs and eye mask.

The hotel is located near the central railway-station, so it's very convenient. We enjoyed our stay, the room was very good and clean. However, two persons at the reception, Agnieszka Derylak, Reservation Agent, and her colleague, another woman with glasses and black high-lighted hair (we found both of them working in the morning) were VERY unpleasant. Moreover, we saw Agnieszka to argue with some nice German tourists. The women seem to be the worst advertisement of Polish politeness.

the hotel is located in the very centre of the city which is good for transportation but very noisy during the night. The ground floor and the reception are modern and clean, as a 3* hotel, but rooms' furnishing is old and dusty. I suspect dust acarious in the bed. The breakfast, instead, was gorgeous.

I asked to stay 1 day more (problem with fly) .. difficult to have the same rate .. to much discussions and finaly ok. Scandal with the advertising panel on the face of the hotel .. no view from the windows .. very stupid ... the price is to high .. because no real standing in the bathroom (very bad). But interresting experience .. in this old communist hotel.

The hotel is well located, being a short walk from the main railway station, with trams and the metro at the doorstep.
You are also opposite a major shopping strip and a short stroll to restaurants. An excellent restaurant is Zgoda for well priced local cuisine, for a special polish treat stroll down Ul Jerozolimske, past the train station to Grand Kredens - the food is superb with excellent atmosphere (the venison pate and the loin of veal are recommended)
The rooms at the metropole were very clean and serviced daily, but they are in need of refurbishment from the 70's decor.
The staff are varied, some are friendly, others not so (mainly language barrier) but overall ok and willing to assist.
An excellent feature is the excellent breakfast they serve included in the rate, from continental to full hot breakfast it caters for all tastes.
The only major downside to the location is the busy intersection it is on and the bar out the front. This makes the rooms noisy at night, so ask for rooms at the far end from the street corner, level 5 or above.
Overall well priced and reasonable value.

Beautiful hotel!!!
It's a 3 stars, but it would deserve to be a 4 star.
It is only 5 minutes walking from the train station and about 20/30 walking from the center.
I strongly recommend it, especially bacause the realtionship between price/quality is excellent

The Metropole is well located, close to the central train station, and many fine restaurants and within about 20 minutes walking distance of the Old and New towns. The rooms and the building are reminiscent of life in the Eastern Bloc before 1989, but they were clean and the room price was reasonable. Breakfast was very good.
