We had a wonderful stay at Altwienerhof. The hotel staff were so friendly and hospitable. The rooms were a bit dated, but clean and welcoming. The hotel is a stone's throw from the metro and is in a convenient area to access the main parts of Vienna. There is a wonderful breakfast in the morning as well. A great value!

We had a wonderful stay at Altienerhof Hotel. The staff members were very friendly and incredibly helpful in assisting us with booking concerts and providing information on the surrounding area. The breakfast is fantastic and served in the most elegant of rooms. The rooms are a bit dated, but are clean and well-kept. They are a stone's throw from the Gumpendorfer metro stop, very well-situated. Highly recommended to others staying in Vienna looking for well-priced, clean rooms, and great hospitality.

It was an excellent weekend. We had requested a quiet room for two persons and we got a very comfortable suite for the same price. The welcome was very friendly and we got any information we needed. The breakfast was ok, but you have to take it early, because between 9 h and 10 h sometimes it was difficult to get a place without waiting. The meal we took in the restaurant was good with an excellent service. The interieur of the hotel is romantic in "Wiener Jugendstil". In the summer it must be very fine to take the breakfast in the garden of the hotel. The Metro-Station was near by the hotel. We didn't need the car anytime.

The room was very big and comfortable, the bathroom was really beautifull.
They have to change some old things, as carpets and they have to remake the part of breakfast room (the one that is for the spring and summer). All this, is a beautifull breakfast room, but it is old and abandoned. Even the garden of it.
The breakfast buffet was very good and the food also was great.
The location was very convinient, very close to train station.

Room was very small and I could feel the springs in the matress; very uncomfortable. The room was off of a main street and therefore quite noisy during the day and at night from passing vehicles.
I ate at the hotel restaraunt my first night; the meal was relatively expensive but excellent. The hotel did have better rooms but all the singles appear to be very small and not well equiped.
On my return to Vienna to catch my flight back to the US I stayed at Pension FÜNFHAUS (1150, Sperrgasse 12). The rooms were large and bright and the bedding confortable although very firm. The bathroom was well proportioned. Being a Pension there were no luxuries but all in all a much better value.

The website says the hotel is located in Neubau. However, it is quite a bit north of Neubau. But that said, it is conveniently located near the U-bahn which makes travel anywhere in Vienna very quick and easy. The hotel is fabulous for the price range. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very good position for WestBanhof and Mariahilferstrasse (Gumpendorfer station within 200mt).
My single room was very very tiny, with no space at all around the bed, even if very quiet with windows on the garden.
Breakfast very rich served in the nice winter garden.
89 euros for that room was really too much and no real photos about single rooms were provided on web: so, here are a couple!

i could mot use the shower in my room and i have been just told sorry, but use the one on the floor...i mean one could suggest 5 euros less or just a sentence (sorry we don't have another room, so would you be so kind as to use the shower on the floor) and the worst thing happened in the end. my suitcase got broken on the flight to vienna, so i bought a new one. when i checked out i left my new suitcase in the lodge and asked if it would be possible for the hotel to throw the broken one away. no problem i have been told first (i mean where should i throw my suitcase away? the ordinary litters are a bit small...;))later i returned to fetch my new suitcase and then i am told to take the old one with me or pay 10 euros...i was just shocked, i mean i stayed there 6 nights...is that service? sorry? do i expect too much!?they should have the means to throw it away a lot more easier than me!??
i would not stay there again, sorry! no way!
the hotel location, the breakfast was perfect but some some small things really missed (no hair dryer, SERVICE)

Pros: Very close to U-bahn, Good furnitures, Breakfast was tasty enough.
Cons: Depending on the room, could not connect to the internet (I reserved two rooms, 1 room had that, but other didn't). Breakfast restaurant was a little bit narrow, we could take it at the tables outside though, but that would depend on the weather.

I visited Hotel Altwienerhof with two friends. We were very impressed with the accommodation as the rooms were very spacious, and it is within walking distance of the city. It is located beside an Underground station so it is handy, no matter where in Vienna you want to visit. The breakfast buffet was also excellent

The hotel was ok, but they had our reservation changed around to saying we had 2 adults and 2 children in their "family room" instead of the 4 adults I put down and thus had a double bed and two single beds that had no space to be adjoined- much to the dismay of my husband and myself. Overall the stay was nice, but I warn against using their parking garage because it was expensive and we couldn't even park there one night because someone had walked away with their garage door opener. Also if you want internet be sure to ask to stay in the old wing because none of the new wing has internet even though all the employees thought it was something we did wrong to not get internet. If looking for a no frills hotel that is very quick to get on the subway this is it- the breakfast is also very good.

I booked it just because the relative low price of a single room. General speaking, the location is good, 2 subway stations from westbahnhof. The room is clean but small. But the reception is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is servived in the garden, so it is a plus to this hotel. If you just want to find a place to sleep, this is a good choice.

I reserved a family room and it was spacious and quiet.
Good breakfast.
The hotel is not in the center of Vienna but a metro station is close to the property (100m).
Very easy to reach the facility by car.

Very nice hotel with excelent breakfast / evening meal facilities. Very good value for money being slightly further from the centre but within 50m of metro train and tram facilities with very efficient public transport facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet location with nice garden.

As far as European hotel rooms go, this one was very large (we had a suite) and had a large soaking tub (which was a nice surprise). The hotel is old and looks old. The neighborhood of the hotel wasn't great, but it was across the street from the subway and allowed us to travel all over without difficulty. We had no problems and there were several places to eat close by. The hotel staff was excellent and very helpful with directions, suggestions, and even made us a light breakfast for our extremely early flight, which was far earlier than they would have prepared for normally. Overall, the hotel was great. It may be just a little bit expensive for the neighborhood, but the large room, bathtub, and staff made up for any harsh feelings we had about the money.

The hotel is very old.. They say it was renovated lately.. I would like to see how it was before but now, the carpet in the halls and in the room are cut, opened old, very used.
My single room was very very small, so small I could turn around with a medium size luggage.
The buffet for breakfast was ok, the people serving and helping were nice and polite.
In the service's description of the hotel on Venere, they say they have airport and train station shuttle... Don't try to find them.. there is none... I even called before from Prague to tell them I would arrived by train the next day but they laughed and said I had to take a taxi because there wasn't any shuttle. False publicity?? at least, wrong information.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 16-year old son in August. We had a triple room, which was very spacious, with a separate room for my son. My complaints are the beds, which were very hard and uncomfortable, with the springs poking into your body at night, no air conditioning, which meant that it was stuffy in the room, and the very noisy traffic, which could be heard from the room. The breakfast buffet was quite good, but the room was too small for the number of guests at the hotel. When I asked for cappuccino, I got espresso with whipped cream (is the the Viennese version?) I would not stay at this hotel again.

Hotel staff was exceptionally good to us. They arranged for a shuttle to take us from the airport directly to the hotel. When we arrived at night, my wife unexpectedly needed prescription medications. The front desk clerk located the nearest all-night pharmacy, gave us detailed instructions, and even offered to escort us there if necessary (it wasn't...pharmacy was only a few blocks away and his instructions were clear). Another clerk assisted us in finding the best place to change dollars to Euros.
Breakfast was fine and in a charming room. We didn't try dinner at the hotel's restaurant, but the menu looked good and it looked popular...probably would have been fine. Location is on a quiet side street, but only drawback is that the hotel is outside of the main "ring" area. The neighborhood didn't have a lot of attractions, but seemed perfectly safe. We had a great first night dinner (schnitzel, ribs, dumplings) in a nearby bar. Despite this small drawback, the hotel is very close to Westbanhof (easy 5-min walk) (train and U-bahn) and less than a minute's walk from an S-bahn station so no problem getting to St. Stephan's or anywhere within a few minutes.
All in all, a charming place, would certainly be more than willing to go there again. They were expecting us, had a third bed all set before our arrival (in USA, even the best hotels often fail to do this. Rate was consistent with what we paid in other cities we visited, and was exactly as agreed in Venere.

The hotel was ok some areas. I it also might need some renovations. The staff was great. As for the location, was a little bit far from the Opera area where all the fun and night lift is. The shops are a 7 minute walk from the hotel, but was not my kind of shops. If brand names you fancy, then the opera is the place. I was shocked for the fact that they did not have a baggage handler.
I think that the picutres on the website should be changed because I never saw the torn chairs arm rest. The bathroom looked nothing like the picture on the web. I think the renovations were made for the lobby only.
