We had a very good and satisfied breakfast, enough for a light lunch. Excelent hour for breakfast. Good location for everything and very close to the U-bahn Station.

The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the Ringstrasse but we found it enjoyable and relaxed both during the day and at night (ie: no security issues at all). The breakfast was excellent (if a bit too heavy on the meat side but we are in Vienna after all...). Both my husband and I were surprised to find so many people in the breakfast area after our first night; we had a very quiet night and heard no noise at all from other guests). We also found that there was very little noise from the street. The room was spacious and newly renovated; the bathroom was bright and sparkling clean. I would not hesitate at all to stay at the Wilhemshof again. We liked the fact that it is basic and no-frills (ie: no lotions/shampoos in the loo, no pool, etc) as it means we aren't paying for things we aren't interested in. And Vienna is such a fantastic city!!! We loved every minute of it.

We were very pleased with our stay here. We had orginally booked a Double Economy but we were upgraded to to the next grade up. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was very big. The breakfast was the usual continental fare, cold meats, cheese, lots of cereal choice with yoghurts or milk, lots of different breads and juices, plus hot drinks served to you at your table. The staff helped in booking a city tour for us and the free internet was useful for checking-in online with the airline. The location is great, it is near the Prater which is a amusement park and near to the Prater/Wein Nord train station which has lots of tram connections and the suburban S-bahn train. Take train 7 from this station to the airport, with a ticket costing 1.80euros (cost of a one-way trip on the Vienna transport system)

The hotel we originally wanted was booked so we opted for this one instead. Little did we know that the hotels were within a block of each other. The Wilhelmshof was a great hotel. The staff was wonderful, even allowing us to order from the bar after hours. Breakfast was an extra bonus included in the price of our stay. We were served coffee immediately after sitting down. The room was nice and spacious - no problems whatsoever. The heated floors in the bathroom was a nice touch (especially for chilly January!). We were able to walk into the city centre in about 20 minutes, no problem, which we did daily. And when we did need a taxi, we were told it would be a ten minute wait, but the taxis arrived in about three minutes! There are cafes all within walking distance for meals, and the hotel is located in a safe neighborhood for evening strolls. I've recommended it to all my friends who have inquired about a hotel in Vienna. It is tucked away and is in a quiet area, but just one block from the main roads. I believe the area (and maybe even parts of the hotel?) were under construction, but it was very quiet - not one sound was heard. I would definitely stay there again.

Unfortunately there was building work going on in the adjascent building and part of the hotel which was very noisy from 7.30am. This is probably not a permanent problem, but it caused us an unwanted very early morning wake up after a day of travelling and had to ask for a room change for the rest of our stay. Otherwise, clean and courtious but not overwhelmingly friendly. Very well situated.

Nice hotel for the price. Too bad they required one night's deposit to reserve a room, despite what Venere's site indicates. No crib in the room (for our daughter) upon arrival even though I had asked the hotel to provide one. Despite that, my family and I had a great time in Vienna and even made reservations to stay at the Wilhelmshof again next month. It's location, near the Prater, is good and getting there from Sudbahnhof was easy, even at 11:00 p.m. Complimentary breakfast was great!

We had an enjoyable stay at the Wilhelmshof. Nice, comfortable, up-to-date, big, quiet room with a well-fitted, warm bathroom. (This was a chilly 1st of Nov and therefore appreciated.) Friendly staff. The level of in-room niceties is adequate and fairly smart: e.g. kleenex dispenser provided, bedside lamps on both sides, but no mini-fridge and no in-room safe (both of these items can be high overhead and problematic). Not to worry: there are a couple of superettes nearby and beverages bought at the hotel bar are reasonably priced. Note that the breakfast is good and included in the price but it does get a bit crowded. LOCATION: A 5 minute walk to the metro stop which is just 2 stops from St. Stephenplatz (the center of Vienna) on the U1 line. You could spend far more on lodging (e.g. one of the hotels on the Ring) and still not be any better located. Please pay little heed to other review comments about the neighborhood not being 'the best.' It's a mixed residential area for Pete's sake, not the L.V. Strip. For sub-urban dwellers (American or otherwise) who may not be used to it, this is what a city -- one that is pedestrian and bike friendly -- looks and feels like. As with anywhere else you walk (especially as a stranger/tourist)you do have to be aware of your surroundings. So yes, take the d*** i-phones out of your ears ;-). Take a one-block walk from the hotel (towards the metro stop!) and stop in the local Aida cafe (as Viennese as apfel strudel and, ah ... hot dogs!(just kidding). Savor your coffee and pastry and enjoy your surroundings. OVERALL: An excellent, comfortable choice for independent-minded travelers.

We had two rooms booked; location was a problem with no shop opened after 18H00. Directions from Underground station to Hotel should be revised. We walked for more than 30 min in the wrong directions with no shops opened or any Taxi nearby that we could ask for direction. This area of Wien is worst that a ghost town

Stayed for 4 nights in Vienna. The room is spacious. Second night I had bedbugs and got bites all over my legs. Hotel seemed clean. Breakfast is OK. Hotel should use allow guests to self-serve coffee or tea. Some mornings we had to wait for coffee to arrive. Jucie glass can be a bit larger so we don't have to keep running for refills. Location is near subway station, very convenient and location is quiet. There is a laundry facility next door where you can send your own laundry there and get it back in a day, no need to use hotel laundry service. Hotel rep was nice enough to allow us to use an adaptor for our electrical equipment, i.e. camera, laptop and cell phone chargers.

Location of the Hotel is very close to the train station. Made it very easy to walk to the hotel and walk back from the hotel to the train. The area around the train station was a little "rough" but we had no disturbing experiences. Finding the hotel was a bit confusing but with help from the people we met it was not difficult to find. An excellent hotel! Thoroughly enjoyed staying in this clean, spacious property. The staff were very helpful. The room and bathroom were spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was the usual European hotel breakfast. One thing to note is only the superior rooms have air conditioning and it was just by chance that I realised that when booking. Hotel was situated near the train station on a dark street. However, it felt safe walking at night. The city has such a good transport system that it doesn't matter if you are not situated in the centre of the city. Within minutes, you are in the heart of Vienna. Vienna is beautiful and we want to revisit. We will definitely stay at this hotel again!

The Wilhelmshof was a great hotel for us! We also stayed at another Vienna hotel inside the Ringstrasse that was "closer to the action". But much preferred the Wilhelmshof. It was close to all major transportation options, good room for the value, internet PCs available in the lobby. But above all was REALLY quiet. Well worth a couple minutes more on the train or subway to get more reasonable prices and a good night's sleep!

Comfortable, no-frills hotel. Breakfast was good. Hotel is on a quiet street, about five minute's walk from Nestroyplatz metro station (2 stops to centre). The immediate streets are dull but safe - but very convenient for Prater and also Praterstern station (from airport). Free internet access was nice. Rooms were clean but towels etc were low-end.

The only recommendation I would make is to divide the breakfast room into smoking and nonsmoking, since it is two rooms anyway. We did not like being near smokers at breakfast. Otherwise we thought the hotel was excellent.

We spent the first leg of our first trip to Europe at the Wilhelmshof and were very happy with the choice. Our welcome was friendly and fast and our superior room was spacious, very clean, nicely set up and we were lucky enough to get a rear garden view from the 6th floor. The breakfast room was complete with both smoking and non-smoking sections, a generous selection of cold meats, cheeses and fruits served more than enough to prepare you for the day ahead...however a little music in the room would serve to break the stoney silences that often pervade these spaces. The hotel bar was very nicely furninshed, although very quiet and barely used or so it seemed. The hotel is very conveniently located...an easy 20min walk to the city centre or a 5min walk to both the underground or tram that will take you directly into the city, no fuss. The area around the hotel is not so picturisque, a bit rough in places...but then again you dont spend alot of time there anyway. The hotel itself is the nicest building in the street, so its a pleasure to come back to! We spent 4 nights at this hotel and were very happy with the price and the product; a good deal.

Excellent property. Very clean and friendly staff. A little away from the main hustle and bustle of city, but 2 seconds to reach by underground. U-Bahn(underground) us hardly a min., away, just get on it and blink you can travel any where in the city within seconds. The transit system is very easy to understand, we felt as we are residents of the city, everything was so clear. Breakfas at the hotel is good, rooms are small but well planned and warm. No english channels on TV, only one music channel. Excellent overall, would come back again for sure..

I appreciated the staff here... the lady at the desk when I came in was quite helpful, as was the gentleman when I departed. Both were friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making my stay and departure a good experience. The room was fine -- clean, and exactly what I expected for price paid. My only complaint, if you can call it that, was that the mouse on the hotel's lobby computer broke and couldn't be replaced. I left too early to try the breakfast, so can't comment on that, but would stay here again, definitely.

Having a Superior Double with my girlfriend, we had a pleasant 4 nights stay early December. The hotel is perfect and had we known how low the cab-fares were, we would have taken taxi more often, as it is a bit out of the way, although not more than 20 minutes on foot to the city centre. The room was spacious, the view not too interesting. No mini bar or trouser press, but FREE WIFI, which was a very big plus in my book. I would not hesitate to book a superior room there again. (How do you search for free wifi on venere. It is a thing that can make up to 20-30€ difference per day!)

We stayed two nights and it was great. The location was a bit out of the main city but very close to the metro so it was very convenient. The room and bathroom were both large and we found the whole hotel very clean. Breakfast was also huge buffet with plenty of fresh food. Definatley recommend to others great service and overall stay was very pleasant. Only downfall was smoking in the bar downstairs meant smoke went right up the lift at occasional times but we are non smokers so we noticed it more. The room didnt smell like smoke only the lift.

The hotel has a very good location with respect to the public transport (U-bahn). This allows for visiting many interesting places in Vienna at a low cost. At the same time, it is situated in a very quite area. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. The hotel prize includes breakfasts which are tasty. The rooms are cleaned with almost unnoticable interruption. In summary, the hotel offers a very good value for money.

We were very pleased with the Wilhelmshof. It is not in the most beautiful part of Vienna, but is very well located for transport (3 U-Bahn stops to Stephansdom, direct S-Bahn to airport). The room was spacious and pleasant, and reasonably-priced. We would stay here again!

If you prefer a location that is not in the heart of the crowded, noisy center....and want ot be close to a huge green area(the island in the river not the Prater park), which has fabulous pedestrian roads for running, walking, etc. then this place is top-notch. In addition you are only a few blocks from the metro so it is a easy ride into the center if you don't feel like walking there. The staff were very helpful at all times. Breakfast buffet was pretty substantial with a variety of items. I highly recommend this hotel and most definitely will stay again on next trip to Vienna.
