the hotel really made our day by upgrading us to a suite as we had asked for a triple room...considering they are a 4 star hotel, wish they had a pick up service from the station as it is a pain locating and dragging suitcases from the bus stand to the hotel.

Overall excellent quality and service in exceptionnal location. Two exceptions: - a low average breakfast quality (certainly the worst coffee of all Italy...and non especially friendly table service) - some smell problems in the room, might come from the canal proximity - the "canal views" proposed in the web site is overpromising: you have to lean out of the window to see a small canal portion...

I found the staff very helpful, but unfortunately, I think the front desk staff has too many responsibilities. They get all calls from the rooms (with problems concerning internet, refrigerators not stocked properly, etc. This means that when a big group is checking in -- they have to deal with all these calls as well, and it's quite annoying. They need to hire a couple of extra people.

This hotel is very well located close to both St Marks Square and Rialto Bridge. We were upgraded to a suite which was lovely but not particularly large (I suspect this may be a feature of many Venice hotel rooms as space generally is at a premium). The room was clean and well furnished with good quality bedding. Earlier comments refer to rooms not refurbished - the hotel confirmed to me that all rooms are now completed. Some work still continues in the public areas. Breakfast was good but with a limited selection. Staff were friendly and helpful but in some cases had limited English (but always better than my Italian;) I would stay here again.

Dissapointed to find there were no eating facilities or even a bar to have a drink. Eventually ended up having pizza for breakfast. Assumed being a 4 star hotel that these facilities would be automatically available.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. We have to say thank you for the good comments like anytime by venere. We found everything like it was discriped. Our room was in the 4th floor with a nice canal view. It was still renovated in a warm style like the whole floor. We feeled real welcomed like home. The renovation goes still on, but you will not hear anything, but in this case you see a lot of public areas in the hotel which have to be really renovated. Over all everything was in a 4Star standard for venice. The staffs are friendly and helpfull. We arrived late at night, but it wasn't a problem to get something to eat and drink at the bar or in the restaurant. The way to the hotel could be better discriped and I will do it now: From Rialto pier (boat 82) you go along the grand canal in the way you came with the boat. The next street after Rialto bridge you turn left (many shops). You have to go straight on and keep on the right side of the street. You will reach a bridge. Turn right and you will see after a short distance (20m) the face of the hotel. The way takes not more then 5 minutes. It's the same from St. Marco. You are in the centre of venice. Take care about this, because everywhere they wait for tourists. There are a lot of places for eat and drink, but you will never get the quality for the price you have to pay. There are some good restaurants, but in july and august most of them are closed. There are some good internet links. Look after "L'Incontro venice" and you will find more. If you look for cheap and good tasts take the train. After 3 or 4 stations you will find the real italy.

The Hotel in my opinion was poor. It was clearly in the middle of being upgraded. I booked a room having viewed pictures on the internet and the room I got was nothing like the picture. The room was cramped and outdated and poorly maintained. The room was poor quality for what I paid. Thankfully the weather was excellent so we did not spend much time in the room. The Breakfast room was also in a poor state with very worn and dirty carpets. The service at reception was very good.

We stayed there from 19-22JUN06 and really enjoyed our stay. If we ever go back to Venice, I would stay there again. It was noisy during the day because of some constructions next door but I always carry earplugs so it didn't bother me. It's very close to St-Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge so right in the middle of the action. Tip: We came from a cruise and took a Murano and Burano Tour when we arrived in Venice and we had our luggage deliver there from the port so we didn't have to carry them around like most people do. The American Breakfast is very good too. The staff was very helpful and spoke many different languages. FYI: The water taxi from the hotel to the airport is 90.00 Euro.

The language barrier was a problem. The staff was not that welcoming as I expected. And A/C was not working when we stayed. It was very unbleieveable especially it is a four star hotel. However, its location was uncompetable. overall, it's a nice hotel. I always think if I can speak Italian then I can have better service from staffs.

The hotel now is not a 4 stars hotel, they are doing reforms and in the future maybe the hotel will be a 4 stars. I been travelling in Italy and staying in anothers 4 stars and similar prices and the diference is really huge. Today I do not recomend this hotel.

Our stay in Venice was absolutely wonderful. The location of this hotel is perfect. 3-4 minute walk from St. Mark's Square. Right in the middle of the best shopping area and restaurants in Venice. Had the best pizza we ever had. Our room was picture perfect. Overlooking a canel on one side and the street/walkway on the other. Granite and marble bathroom that was huge. Windows that opened completely so you could look out over the canel or close at night for a quiet nights sleep. Spotless. I cannot say enought good things about the staff of this hotel. They were willing to help you with any request. Computer access, phones, directions around the city and how to get there, you name it and they were will to help. The restaurant recommendations were excellect.(I can still taste the pizza) My wife left her camera in the lobby when we checked out and they made sure it was sent to us in the States. Just absolutely wonderful people. The only thing the hotel could do to improve its look is to change the carpet in the common areas/restaurant. When we revisit Venice, we will diffenently stay here again.

For the price the hotel is difficult on location & convenience. We booked early & requested a canal view which we were lucky enough to get. Watching gondolas float past our window as we unpacked was a fantastic start to the stay, guaranteed to put anyone in the right mood. The alternative view, however, would have been drab, the luck of the draw for Venice. Overall the hotel is functional rather than luxurious &, whilst there is evidence of some recent upgrading having taken place, there are still areas of the hotel (including our room) that are overdue for a facelift. That said, we still enjoyed the stay immensely & would consider this hotel again in future. P.S. No one warned us about the mosquitos - in late October!!!!!!

The room we stayed in was very dated but clean. It appears as they may be in the process of renovation as the area off of the elevator was very different from where we stayed. The resaturant carpet is disgusting! The carpet is stained and filthy! It would be better if they tore it up and just had plywood down. Canned fruit is not my idea of what a restaurant should be serving for breakfast.

We were extremely pleased with our accommodations. The hotel room we stayed in was small-medium but very nicely renovated and decorated. We were in the heart of Venice between Ponte di Rialto and Piazza San Marco, so we were a short walk to everything. I give this hotel high marks and would recommend this hotel to others.

The room pictured on the website has no relationship to the room you will get, unless you ASK for the deluxe room. This room is 50 euros more. I only knew to ask about it because of other reviews on this website. Also, the noise outside the room was rediculous. I've stayed in the hearts of New York and Chicago, which were library quiet compared to the Splendid Suisse.

The hotel is actually in an ideal location. You are not paying for a four or five star resort in room decor/service you are paying for an ideal location on the main island, very close to San Marco square, to all the shopping and good restaurants. We were disappointed with paying in advance a booking fee to secure a double room and instead got 4 single beds when asked to have the room changed they instead put the beds together. Overall the hotel was adequate but definitely not worth the price that was paid. They offered free internet access and then when we went to use it the front desk required not only ID but we had to go to the room to get passports they did not do this for all of their guests which discriminating and quite useless. There was no safe in the rooms. The air conditioning was loud and noisey. The breakfast that was included was very good and there was ample of food provided. The service quick and efficient. The front desk was kind enough to look after our luggage on the day that we checked out. If you are after location rather than decadence then I would recommend the place but the price of the rooms does not equal the quality stipulated in the advert.

This hotel was wonderful. Our daughter was getting married and her wedding dress needed to be pressed. The off-site cleaners had already departed for the day, but the hotel staff arranged a special pickup for us. The dress was delivered on time the next day with no expedited charge. The location is perfect and the canal side dock and dinning was also a plus.

Hotel was hugely disappointing. It's suppossed to be a four star but frankly that is a joke. We were shown to a room way at the back of the hotel which was in really poor decorative order with no view and told that was what was available if you booked over the internet. Basically we checked out the following morning and found a room at 1/3 of the price which was hugely superior. Under no circumstances would I recommend this hotel. Other hotels available on the Venere site are a much better bet.

This is a very nice hotel. I got a brand new room, all tech driven, excellent. Located right between the Rialto Bridge and the San Marco Basilic...300 yards from each one. If you're arriving by plane, you can get a taxi-motorboat and it will drop you @ the hotel in a few minutes (be ready to pay at least $100 for this ride). Free Internet on the lobby and a very nice breakfast. Prices are a little salty over the weekend, but on weekdays, it's a catch!!! We'll be back and very likely we'll gonna stay in the same hotel.
