Good things: The staff was very polite and nice, the room was clean and tidy, it has air conditioning, it is a quiet place and it is very near from St. Marcus Square. Bad: the breakfast and there is no view from hotel.

Alloggi Barbaria was above our expectations. The hotel is very well located in a quiet neighbourhood on a walk distance from a city center. Giorgio is a very friendly and helpful person. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and clean, and we got clean towels every day. The breakfast was rather nice and a terrace quite charmy. My husband, our ten years old daughter and I spent five wonderful days in Venice, and a certain part of it is thanks to excellent accomodation in Alloggi Barbaria.

Very helpful staff, easy to get to all the major sights. We very much enjoyed our stay!

Very nice, quiet location. Staff was EXTREMELY friendly. Location is a short walk to any tourist sights, but this was as described. Close to water bus. Room is basically meant for two people, we were three which was accomplished by adding another twin sized cot to the room, making quarters a little close. However, we weren't expecting anything different so I was happy.

We stayed five nights and found the hotel very clean with comfortable beds and efficient heating. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was simple continental style with freshly baked rolls and plenty of coffee. Very close to the vaporetto stop Oespedale and with a useful local supermarket. Very good value for money, a real find.

This hotel is very well situated for sightseeing but is located in a quiet area. Room was good size but a bit odd in that it opens directly onto the reception area which doubles as a breakfast area...not good if you snore loudly! Breakfast was very basic and could do with improving, especially the coffee, which was barely drinkable. Have no complaints otherwise about the room or service. I would readily stay here again when visiting.

I like the fact that this hotel is very close to the water taxi stop (Ospendalle). The owner is also very welcoming. I stayed in a single room for a night and my room is soooooo big!! Unfortunately the breakfast was poor (little choice, cold coffee and tea, staff don't speak English) and I had a hard time finding channels in TV.

Amazing to be so entrenched in the centre of Venice for such a modest price. We went at an expensive time of year (the Carnival) and were origionally concerned by the prices. This hotel was rpicy but nothing like the others. The communal area was nothing to write home about and breakfast was pretty modest, but the rooms were very big with en suite facilities and the location was ideal. I would definitely go here again!!!!

perfect landlord, his small place can compare in many regards to places that cost double or triple the price he asks! we think we should compare as we come to venice 10 times a year! :)

Ah! Venice!!! Alloggi Barbaria is a great little lodging establishment that is easy to find and provides everything one needs to have a great stay in Venice. The staff is wonderful and the rooms were clean and quiet. We recommend staying with them and will make them our lodging choice when we return.

Hotel is a little out of the way, but quiet as a result. Instructions from train station must be followed exactly or you will end upon LIDO isle, (the end of the line for the water buses). Not a terrible problem but certainly time consuming. All in all a nice place for the money. There is an excellent restaurant about 100 yards further from the water on the same street on the right hand side.

Very good B&B accommodation,in quiet, convenient and easily accessible location from rail station. Warm welcome and good advice on nearby restaurants which were readily booked for us. Breakfast was basic coffee and rolls.

Very spacious and quite room, although a bit simple. The location is not very central, but for the price we really enjoyed this B&B.

To get to Alloggi Barbraria from the airport is very easy by water, we got the airport vaparetto and for 6 euros we got off at Venice island and had a short walk to the hotel. Access to the hotel is deceptive as it is down what appears to be a narrow alley, but it is what counts as a main street for Venice. Once inside the hotel the welcome was friendly and our rooms were spacious and very clean. There was ample hot water, clean towels everyday and the room had most facilities you need for a short city break. The continental breakfast was basic but ample and Georgio was helpful to provide any requests. Georgio also provided a map on arrival and took time each day to suugest places to visit, how to get there and places to eat. The hotel is in a good location to get to restaurants and bars, and the key sights are about 10 - 15 minutes walk. We ate at an excellent local restaurant on our first night, probably our best meal of the holiday, which was only a 2 minutes walk away - sorry I do not know its name. It does not have to be an expensive holiday in Venice and we found prices very reasonable. All in all I think the hotel is excellent value for money in a central location and easy to find in a city where there are no taxis to drop you off at your hotel door.

Our room was spacious and clean. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Alloggi Barbaria is only 15 minute walk to San Marco, and easily reachable by vaporetto from the train station. We would definetely stayed there at our next visit to Venice.

Chosen at the last minute based on price, availability and the many positive reviews from previous visitors. It did not disappoint - friendly welcome, great facilities and very clean. Great base for exploring the city - the town plan we were given by the owner was excellent. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer - will definitely use again.

very central location but really hostel type accommodation a bit disappointing,

One absolutely negative aspect was when one of the Employees fed the doves in the near of the breakfast tables on the terrace while we were eating. The plenty of doves I´don´t like, it is not possible to sit outside on the Marcus Place and there is a lot excrementals.

Girlfriend and I arrived for our first trip to Venice and were warmly welcomed by George the Hotel owner. Found the Hotel to be a lot cheaper than other hotels in venice and while the rooms and Breakfast were a touch basic it was clean, friendly and in a great location. Would definetly recommend this for other budget travellers. The pizzeria around the corner (witha picture of a Witch as its logo) was the best meal we had on our stay and should definetly be checked out by other guests.

We stayed in a double room from July 31- Aug.2 2007. This was our first time in Venice. We had a great welcome from the host who spoke perfect English. He is a very nice man that had maps waiting for us and told how to get to wherever we needed. The room was very nice with ice cold AC, refrigerator with a cheap mini bar and was big enough, with a TV that had many channels, 2 of which were in English. The location is fantastic. It is down a tiny little street and a quick walk from the water bus stop. It is a little off the beaten path which we enjoyed. Nice and quiet, and a couple minute walk to a grocery store where the locals seem to shop and as such had very good prices. The man that worked at the hotel told us about this store. It was also not too far from all Venice has to offer. When we go back to Venice we will stay here again. We had a great time in Venice and much of it was because of this wonderful little hotel. The only minor complaint is that the breakfast is nothing great, pre packaged croisants and coffee that was not on par with other places in Italy. However, the outside balcony where breakfast was served was very nice. I highly recomend this hotel.

Alloggi Barbaria is in a quiet area of Venice very close to the "Hospital" vaporetto stop. Walking to San Marco is not easy if you're not used to Venice's small streets, especially at night. Once you get used to finding your way around, it's not a problem.

We were greeted with a smile and a handshake and Giorgio did everything he could to welcome us and help us. The staff was all very friendly and adaptable to our needs. They gave recommendations for area restaurants and entertainment events when we asked them and were very pleasant. This hotel was a gem that we would definitely return to.

A little walk to the "main" attractions of Venice but situated in the heart of the real Venetians. They provide you with maps upon arrival...including detailed directions to San Marco Square (15 min walk...including the "getting lost" aspect and around the same to the Rialto area). Five minute from a vaporetto stop and there is a local grocery store around the corner. Very nice! Breakfast was just okay. Staff was very friendly and willing to help with anything..particularly reservations!

Stayed here two nights at the end of June and have no complaints. Property is very close to the Ospedale stop on the vaporetto, and is very easy to walk to once you disembark. Room was quiet and comfortable, and large, which was unusual for many European cities. Employees at the property were very friendly, and allowed us to keep our bags in the lobby after we officially checked out, which permitted us to do some extra sightseeing and shopping before taking the train to the next town. I recommend this hotel, and I would definitely stay here again. Breakfast is not much, but I don't judge hotels on this point---and of course since this is Venice, you are going to pay a little more for a room than you would in other cities. Venice is beautiful and worth the extra $$$ for a hotel. Enjoy!

This place is quiet (except for mosquitos in the room, and birds outside), and is kept clean. However I would not necessarily recommend it for a stay in Venice. You could be anywhere, there is nothing distinctive about it. I was disappointed and it didnot fulfil me dreams of a Venetian stay. Perhaps it would suit a large group of students who would have spacious rooms.

We were warmly welcomed by everyone here. Considering Venice is generally expensive, I felt we got a good deal considering location and proximity to everything (including the boats to the islands and airport), service and size and cleanliness of the rooms. Would definately come back. We all loved George!

I very nice place to be. The rooms are very clean. The pictures are accurate. The location is very convenient. There is a grocery store around the block (usually are hard to find in Venice). There is a bus-boat stop around the block as well (great if you want to visit Murano as well). The breakfast is kind of boring, just coffee, tee, bread, butter, jam.

We spent 2 nights in Venice in February 2007. The Alloggi Barbaria was a great place to stay. The room was very clean, spacy and quite new. Its not the most comfortable hotel but there is everything you need: bed, table, chair, wardrobe, clean private bathroom, even TV and fridge. The breakfast was okay, too.

A good quite place, very clean, spacious, near ALL you want to be easyly accessible: the sea, the vaporetto station, islands, St Marco, Rialto, a supermarket and also (very important!) all those venetian districts, beauties, bars and cafes that are not full of tourists yet (but it was out of season). The personnel are really kind, they offered me a venice guide and allowed to leave my luggage in after check out till my train in the evening. Simple hotel but worthy. Thank you Giorgio!

A great place to stay in Venice within easy walking distance to St. Mark's. Venice can be confusing with the narrow streets if you don't have a good map, but the hotel was easy to find and very, very comfortable. Fausto and company do a great job making guests feel very welcome. Definitely consider this hotel! Internet access would be the only addition I would recommend.

In English: When you arrive to Capucine Street, you are unable to imagine the wonderful thing that Alloggi Barbaria is: Clean and bright, extensive and comfortable, ample and ordered, with plenty of details... And if you need any information about Venice or sorroundings, don't doubt to ask Georgio, he will appoint you to any place or restaurant or shop you need (sometimes he know them and you get a discount!). Don't doubt: if you don't need luxury, Alloggi Barbaria is for you!

It is a clean, friendly an quiet hotel. Fausto is a very helpfull a friendly person speaking excellent english and Spanish. You walk 10 maximum 15 minute to St Marcs Square or the Rialto. the location from the airport of marcopolo to the hotel using the alilaguna was excellent and the direction from the web was perfect because we arrived around half 11 in the evening it was easy enough to locate. However his service for breakfast needs improvement we were served with fanta orange in the morning. the place was quiet for the evenings and its very close to rialto bridge and san marco and the owner was very good enough to direct us to places and transportation we needed. Its only the hotel that needs extra touch and breakfast.
