the hotel is ok, especially because its near the station and in front of the boats that bring you everywhere in Venice. The quality of the breakfast is increased, but the gentleness of the employees of the hotel is decreased compared to four years ago. I noticed it when I called to book the hotel and also when I was there, during the breakfast time.

We choosed a Room with a shared bathroom. (shared between 3 rooms only) Very cheap for Venise, 100 meters from the Venise train station(all vaporettos stop there, all trains, all buses), very quiet (room with the window on a little garden) Breakfast very good for Italy Bed, towels, have been cleaned everyday. Climatisation in each room. The best quality/rate, perfect for young couples

Very welcoming staff, we arrived early and were told our room was ready so we got a jump on the day. Very helpful with bus and train information, lovely breakfast - very pleasant staff - good location for seeing the sights within walking distance. Third place we have stayed in Venice and would stay there again.

Pictures on venere.com are cleverly done, a standard room doesn't look anywhere as spacious as the one on the pictures, esp. the bathroom. Walls are thin so you may hear your neighbours all night. Biggest problem: NO ELEVATOR so if you can, get a room on the first or second (out of 4) floors. Rooms are pretty clean but there was a funny smell when we checked in, found out it was the chemical mosquito repellent plugged into the wall, yuck. a nicer place with great value for your money is the Locanda al Leon Hotel basically right at San Marco Square.

Well i didnt like the fact that u have to pay for WI FI .. and its 5 euros.. i mean come on, i already have my own laptop and i still have to pay? Also the bathrooms are shared.. At night the hotel closes and u have to ring the door bell and when the girl opened the door for me at around 2 30 when i came home, she was very rude to me.. I think staying in a hotel which is not so cheap workers need to be friendlier.

We Stayed one night and the location of the hotel was perfect for arriving into Venice on the first night. After arriving at the main bus station from the airport, the hotel was easy to find meaning we could off-load our luggage and check-in quickly with minimum fuss. Its only at most a 10-15 minute walk southwards along the Grand Canal from the station, and there is a water bus stop at very close proximity. The room was a basic ensuite, clean and with air conditioning. The breakfast was an absolute treat and totally unexpected. All in all we enjoyed the stay and the price seemed reasonable.

Great location & hotel in Venice, especially if you are on a short stay and budget. The breakfast was very good for being included in the price. The room is clean as is the shared bathroom. Bathroom is shared between three rooms so is mostly available; shower could use proper lighting and a shower door (curtain sticks to you the whole time).

We had toilet i korridor and even there it was clean and it was never occupied. The only noice was in the morning when the shopowners in the street opened up.

Unfortunately, we could not place calls from our hotel room phone - dialing with ANYTYPE of calling card; additionally, we left before breakfast was served so we've no idea what we might have missed. Some of the B&Bs we stayed in had some foods out for early risers/early departures, but not here.

Excellent hotel position for us as we were arriving by train. Being in a side street the hotel was also pretty quiet and avoided noise from the tourist throng. It was quite far from San Marco, but the ferries meant that it was easy and cheap to travel around. Once we knew our way around we found it was also not too hard to walk to the Rialto area. Overall, we would go back to Venice in a flash and would be happy to stay at Stella Alpina again.

We selected a shared bathroom but looks like we were the only one to use it. Breakfast was excellent. Trust me, you only need the room to sleep and shower only because you'll be out and about all day long. Next time in Venice this will be the place for us.

The communication of this website is terrible, the cancellation policy is 5 days in advance but I made the reservation 4 days before and because of this the following day when I wanted to change it they said I couldn't and they would not provide the phone number to the Hotel either. Also when I got there I went to open the curtain and the whole fixture fell off the wall, and I found a spider on my bed. I've stayed in Hostels that were nicer for less money

The directions to the hotel say nothing about turning left down an alley and then going 150 yards, we walked past the turn off twice and then when we got to Hotel Edelweiss- and the only reason I knew that was it was because I had read some of the reviews on your website. There were no bath towels in our room, but we were very happy to have our own bathroom. It also had very saggy old mattresses. I am afraid we were glad to leave it.

For Venice, it's a good value. The street was not as quiet as I'd hoped, since we were off the "main drag" - there was a lot of foot traffic at all hours, including construction noise on the alley below. Note, that there is no lift in the hotel, so be prepared to carry your luggage up multiple flights of stairs. The room and bath were clean (except the drain in the shower was slow to clear and thus there was often a moldy smell in our bathroom), and the room spacious enough. The 24-hour reception was a nice feature, as well as the internet in the hotel. They do charge 5 Euros per hour, but you can start and stop anytime. The breakfast was very nice - cereals, breads, cheeses, fresh apricot croissants, juices and a cappuccino machine that made all varieties of coffee, tea, and hot cocoa as well. Again, if I could stay off the main street, that would be better. But, the location a stone's throw from the main railway station (and 10 minutes' walk from the bus station) can hardly be beat. For the money, I prefer Belle Epoque, but BE was full when I booked this.

I wish I had not bothered booking here. I slept on a folding bed in a room with two folding beds. The floor was unfinished - concrete just inside the door - with no bathroom. For 120€ per night?! I booked for me and for my two friends. Their double room was OK, but still expensive. At least they didn't have silly beds and a poky room. Incredible. This is expensive, even for Venice. An offseason room with double bed and ensuite bathroom in Florence cost me €41 per night, as some comparison. As I live in Bassano del Grappa now, I won't bother booking anything through Venere.com again. Don't blame the staff though - very nice, hardworking people. The problem is with the owners, who can charge such extortionate rates but haven't even finished the building!

Quiet, less than 5 minutes from the station, sparkling clean new bathroom, clean linen and tiled floor. Plenty for breakfast, food good but the instant cappucino & chocolate from the machine were pretty bad. Overall excellent place to stay (150 Euros for 3 of us)in overpriced Venice- start your day with a ride down the Grand Canal & save your money for food & a great ice cream from Alaska (just over the bridge)!

We ended up paying 140 Euro for a Night ( Month of April ) through Venere which i thought is little expensive, but may be hotels in Venice cost this much usually. Other than this, hotel was exceptionally good, very humble & helping staff ( Especially the receptionist Ms Magda - she was very kind ). ( Small Problem is that the hotel doesnt have an Elevator, avoid taking the room on the 4th or 3rd floor ). Breakfast was not so good, just with some basics, but i think it couldnt be better, Overall opinion is really satisfying, I would love to stay here again.

My new husband and I stayed at Hotel Stella Alpine on our honeymoon. One thing to note, when you arrive in Venice, the "streets" are basically the size of alleyways. The street is the first street after you come out of the train station on the left and the name of the hotel is only written on the door. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and spacious.

Nice and warm welcome in this little hotel near the railway station. Many restaurants nearby and very varied breakfast in the hotel itself. clean shower/bath and toilets. the bed was nice and the room really okay for a **. only thing we could say is that the hotel seems rather noisy. we had room n° 4 and you could hear everybody going up or down the stairs, doors been shut + the people laughing in the lobby. i'd strongly recommend earplugs...

The Stella Alpina was was a nice, clean hotel with a private bathroom to stay in during our Venice trip. Plus, it was a 5 minute walk to the train station, which made it perfectly located for our trip in which we arrived and department from Venice via train. The only downside was that it was somewhat expensive for the size & quality of the rooms and services offered. On our next trip to Venice, I'll probably try to find another hotel with the same services but slightly less expensive ... however, if there aren't any (which there may not be) I'm sure we'll gladly stay at the Stella Alpina again.

Very pleased with everything (lucky us got a room on the first floor; my in-laws got the 4th one without the benefit of an elevator! Good news though, an elevator is coming this winter). Biggest complaint is the hotel sign: big, nice Edelweiss sign visible from afar. Passed it twice not expecting to have to pass the German exam to enter (Stella Alpina is Italian for Edelweiss!) I would add a note of caution on the internet directions regarding the fact that the "street" is actually a narrow passage starting in front of the bridge. Other than that it's a great location and the price is very decent.

We really thought the staff was great, but upon getting our room it was a disgrace it smelled bad, the sheets were dirty, and we had to check into another hotel down the street. I've been in Venice for two days and one night spent in this hotel. The room was perfectly clean, comfortable, quite big. The hotel is really near to the railway station (less then 5 minutes walk) and to "Canal Grande". I think is the best with respect to relationship between price and quality. I was quite surprised of the quality of the room given the price, the previous comments I read and the rank of the hotel (just two stars).

The single room was small but clean and bright. While it would have been nice to have had something besides Italian stations on the television, I enjoyed my brief stay at the Stella. (The sign, though, announces that it's the Hotel Edelweiss.) It was great getting off the train and walking around the corner to the hotel and being able to walk over the Grand Canal and have all of Venice at my disposal. A good reasonably priced hotel with a decent, though not great, breakfast. My only complaint: very low water pressure in the sink in my room at certain times of the day.

Easy to find, convenient for the station, staff were welcoming and helpful. For this price in Venice we had expected a total dive and were very pleasantly surprised to find a large bright clean room with generously sized bathroom, and big windows overlooking a quiet street (so you could get fresh air without noise). The hotel is quite far from the 'hub' of Venice if you were in a hurry, but very walkable (about 25 minutes through interesting streets), or otherwise, convenient to the ferry. This is a kind-of broken down hotel. The sheets were clean and there was air conditioning but that was about it. The layout of the interior of the hotel makes the rooms loud (you can hear people stomping around in the halls.) The facade is under construction so you are not allowed to open the windows, there is no view. I would not stay here again. There are a lot better cost/value hotels in Venice.

The Hotel Stella Alpina truly is just a two minute walk from the train station. It is also located close to several restaurants. The staff was also very friendly, and the hotel served a decent breakfast. I really only have two complaints. I needed to use the restroom before bed, and when I went into the hall, there was a bat flapping around on the floor. Also, the shower was nothing impressive. It was really a bathtub with a head you could take off to spray down. Overall, the hotel and staff were nice. I would recommend this hotel to others who are living on a tight budget.

The best stay I had during my one month tour of Europe. At only 50 Euro for a 2-person bedroom for 1 night (25 Euro per person/night), this was a fantastic deal. It's 2 minutes away from the train station, right around the corner, but not in the usual skeevy train station accommodation style, but in an off-a-little-street and settled in a cozy little corner kind of style. Beautiful lobby, very friendly and COMPETENT staff (perfect english, smiling, welcoming and efficient), very nice and comfortable room with color TV, FANTASTIC SHOWER (new, hot water all the time, enough hooks and racks to hang your stuff with a toilet in the bathroom), BLOODY AMAZING BREAKFAST that's included in the room (I mean, it's typical continental European breakfast, but for a free breakfast, it was huge. Coffee, hot chocolate, tea, juices, cereals, cold cuts, tons of pastries, little wrapped cookies and toast to take with you, jams, cheeses...huge selection and all of it really good) and you eat in an absolutely charming and beautiful sun lit room. I must say, this is a very 'pink' hotel (the room is fashioned all in a peachy pink colour, as is the breakfast room), but it's cute and charming. My best stay ever and at a great price. I definitely recommend this place.

Noise from the alley way required us to keep the windows closed. Also, many mosquitos came into the room when windows were open due to lack of screens. With no air conditioning, room was hot. The hotel was a little pricey, but the room was very nice and clean. The beds are big and soft. The 07:00 breakfast didn't start until 07:40, but it was delicious! The friendly receptionists spoke English, German, French and Italian (probably others, too). There is no map--had to call for directions. "150 meters from train station" is not suitable for finding your way in Venice. This hotel chooses to charge for the internet, but hot (and I mean hot) showers are included.

The room I was given had obviously not been a bedroom before. I didn't have a radiator, it was hardly bigger than the size of a closet, it wasn't decorated at all like the other rooms and you went down a level as soon as you opened the door. The door didn't close properly. You had trouble opening the window because the curtains would come off the barre and there was only one plug in the romm, meaning you had to chose between having the radiator on or charging your cellphone. The morning receptionist was not helpful at all, in fact, she was cold and snippy. For the price. I paid this was defenetedly what I was expecting. I will not be staying there again if I can help it.

We were not sure what to expect from this hotel, since the comments were not all positives, but we took the risk anyway because it was much cheaper than any other hotels we could find. Finally we were happy to discover that there is nothing wrong with this hotel, it is certainly no luxury, but it is really a great value for the price. Everything is as the web page says, we had no bad surprise. The room was large enough, nicely decorated in venetian style (even if the deoration was quite old and some paper started to peel of the wall), the bed was confortable and clean, and it was even more quiet than we expected (we were 2 weeks before the high season). The location is really perfect, it is easy to find and less than 2 minutes from the train station. Even the breakfast was a nice surpise for us, after all the bad comments we read about it. It is a very respectable buffet breakfast, better than many 2-stars we have tried. It is true that the coffee is horrible, don't even try it, take the hot chocolate instead it is much better, or one of the nice slection of tea, and take your coffee in one of the typical italian cofee bars around the hotel. We highly recommend the Dalmas for its cofee and delicious pastinas, a short walk from the hotel. This hotel is perfect for young couple who just need a good night sleep and plan to spend most of the time outside visiting the city. Otherwise there is not much to do in the hotel, and the few channels on tv are in Italian. We sept 4 nights there and we would certainly return.

For what it cost, we really couldn't have stayed in a better hotel. The location was on the North Western point of Venice City which was beneficial on 2 points: We were very close to the bus and rail station and it encouraged us to travel the city on foot allowing us to discover what a fantastic place this really is. The breakfast in the Hotel was amazing and you could eat as much as you wanted from the well stocked buffet (even ham and bread rolls for those light lunches on the move). I would strongly recommend to anyone visiting for the first time to forget the water taxi's and water buses, and discover the city on foot. This way you won't miss anything (or very little). The hotel and staff helped to give us a honeymoon we'll never forget. Thank you!

Beware the bell! Even though we had read about the bell sounding off in the morning, it doesn't quite prepare you for what lies in store. It starts at 7.15 in morning(ideal if you want an early start or don't want to miss breakfast) and sounds off about 40 times, each one, I swear is louder than the last. Still, if by chance you do sleep through it, you get a second perormance at 8.15. All in all though a very good value hotel if your budget is small. We stayed in canal and walter last time but their prices had shot up so although a little further to walk, I was quite pleased with Stella Alpina for the value. Why does it say hotel Eidelweiss outside? I never did ask.

Overall it is a nice and good hotel. A disadvantage is that you have to pay an extra charge of 5 euro when you want to leave your luggage in the hotel on the last day.

The quitness of the rooms is very poor; the walls seems to be out of paper; the windows are not fitted to hold back the noise from the street; But: The staff is very friendly.

I went to the hotel with some trepidation having read very mixed reviews, some of which are downright scary. However, we were greeted very warmly. Yes we had to take our cases upstairs, but that was not a surprise. The Hotel says that they have no lift. The room was large and clean, the ensuite bathroom was all new. We stayed for 6 nights and the room was cleaned every day, with clean sheets every other day, fresh towels and soap etc. everyday, which I think is good for the price. Our room was at the front with a window onto the very narrow street, this caused any noise to be amplified, but by closing the shutters this was minimal. The biggest complaint that we had was the breakfast, it was a standard hotel breakfast with, croisants, bread rolls, jam, honey etc. The problem was that bizarre stuff that Italian hotels serve as "juice" and why in the land of great coffe, does coffee come as instant from a machine? However just around the corner is Dal Mas, one of the worlds great patisseries, fresh home made crossants, brioche etc. Good coffee. " Machiatti and 2 "Cornet" for 3 euros 80 a great bargain. There are a number of really good restuarants and caffes nearby, but be careful, some are a rip off. Look for local Venexians at the bar. Definitely try Dal Mas.

First time at the Stella Alpina. Easy walk from the coach station to the Hotel. Quite easy to find street, The sign outside slightly confusing. So easy to get to Santa Lucia Railway Station and the vaporetto stops. Breakfast fine, the breakfast room attendant too shy, but it is a buffet so you can help yourself. Ground floor rooms quiet. May not have liked a higher floor but we knew that there was not a lift so were prepared. Good to have internet. A good clean warm retreat in winter. Reception Staff very friendly.

The room was spacious enough, daily clean and tidy. However, the bathroom's wall was partly covered with saltpetre. The location, near the train station and the canal is very convenient. Good money for value !

The best thing about this hotel was its location from the train station. It only took about 2 minutes to get there from the train station and it was pretty easy to find the hotel. To get there - walk out of the train station and go down the steps. Turn left and start walking maybe 50 to 75 feet. As soon as you walk by an old church - (sorry, I can't remember the name), turn left and you are on the street of the hotel. Walk down this street about 150 feet and you should find the entrance. The name of the hotel is next to the door. Quick tip on streets - They are very small, really more like sidewalks or even an ally (that is just the way Venice is). Also, the name of the street is on the walls of the buildings. I should also say that we first arrived at the hotel during normal working hours. If you arrive late in the evening, you may have to ring some sort of doorbell. Also, if you need to leave really early in the morning to check out, make sure you tell the receptionist. When they lock the door at night, it locks from both the inside and the outside. As far as the rest of accomodations are concerned, we were not impressed. The room was very humid and the mattress was very poor. We had to share a bathroom which was ok because we knew that when we booked the room. That actually worked out ok because there was just us and another person that had to share. Overall, I would recommend this hotel because of its great location and great ease of getting to from the train station.

As someone has mentionned there were traces of dead mosquitoes on the walls... but no actual mosquitoes which was good. The situation is great - right near the railway station. Nice room, good breakfast. A little noisy the first night with some people feasting in the streat. And of cause chirch bells can be hell if you plan to sleep a little longer. But all in all I liked it a lot.

They had lost our reservations, luckly I had brought my copy. We had to do a bit of jockying. They didn't know what to do at first. It all worked out in the end. But I went on the Internet to look for another place to stay while I was doing that they agreed to honer our reservations. It's a great location and I would stay here again. We were given the wrong time for our gondola serenared which was on our last night in Venice so we didn't get to do that. It was a bit dissappointing but I had a great time.

The room was very nice and i thought the price was a bit much but the whole of venice is expensive for italy. our stay was good except for the church bells at 8 ever morning waking us and the mosquitos at night eating us but i dont know if this is the hotels fault but worth telling you about. next time i might stay on the main land and travel in each day.

Excellent location for the Santa Lucia Train station & Ferroveria vaperetto stop. However could be quite easy to miss the road to the hotel as the road is quite narrow at 1st. walk down the steps outside the station & turn left, the road you need is between Hotel Bellini (red building) & a snack bar & there is a clear sign showing Hotel Stella is down the road. I booked a single room with a shared bathroom & whilst the room was adequate enough, although not very welcoming or homely, the bathroom was no more than hostel standard or worse. however own sink, colour tv & easy to use safe were provided in the bedroom. Would not necessarily recommend this hotel or stay there again as it was quite pricey for 3 nights (250 euros) however this was the cheapest i could find in Venice (which by the way is lovely!) & was excellent location to the station which as a lone backpacker was what i wanted. Also please note that when booking this hotel through Venere the hotel did try to take the full amount from my credit card when i made the booking despite it stating on Venere at the time of my booking that this would not be the case, the payment was stopped however this may only have been because i cancelled my bank in time. i did email Hotel Stella with regards to this but received no reply, this may however be because i wrote in English & not Italian and in all fairness if someone wrote me an email at work which wasnt in My language then i probably wouldnt reply either however feel people should be aware that money may be taken from credit card when making their booking despite what the website states.

Excellent location on narrow pedestrian steet very near train station. Room was clean and fairly worn (marks on walls and floor tile broken in multiple places). TV didn't work. Lots of conversations/hard-soled shoes echoed in street. Closing shutters tight helped alot, but then no way to tell if day or night. Breakfast was good, and great if you waited till 9 AM for fresh baked pastries. No elevator, and stairs were fine.

After a business conference in Milano we went to Venice for two nights at the Stella Alpina for a short vacation. Overall, our experience was very good and I would definitely return there if I had the occasion. The only drawback is no elevator and it was difficult to drag our bags two flights up and down. The staff was very kind, professional, and helpful, except for one young woman at check-in who unexpectedly showed an attitude when we asked if we could get our passports back after they looked at them (instead of them keeping them for the duration of our stay).

As the bathroom was shared and there was no toilet paper in the bathroom I would rate this hotel poor as you had to take your shower in a bath tub with a spray hose and no curtain. Room was small with bed bugs in the bed and we both had bites on us the next day -- next night we went to rio alto which was awesome compared to this hotel. The breakfast and internet point in the hotel was a plus.

The room was clean and spacious, and having and aircon was very beneficial. Breakfast was an expected European breakfast, with very good coffee. However, there were many mosquitos in the room, and in the bathroom we encountered a couple of unknown bugs (looked like scorpions). Also, you can hear everything in the hallway through the room door. The breakfast area was not promptly cleaned up, so many tables still had dirty dishes on them. When reserving a gondola the hotel person failed to specify the time when we could get on. Lastly, we needed to pay 3 euros to leave our luggage at the hotel after checkout. It is free to do this at most other hotels!

1 Information on direction to hotel could be better most people do not expect street to be only 4 feet wide. Also No 1 boat stop is long way to carry luggage. 2 For a person in 70 year it is not welcome to be informed at 10 oclock at night that room is on 4 th floor and there is no lift. 3 The air conditioner was not working in room so it was necessary to leave windows open which meant the we spent the night feeding mosquitos and the next 3 days recovering from them.

Nice little hotel, very clean with a reasonably good facility, and good location for travellers with big luggage(very close to the train station), however, we found it was a little bit over-priced...maybe because it's in Venice and is busy season?

Venice is very expensive, so this hotel was very good for the prices quoted (and charged). the only negative was the third floor room and no elevator for our rather heavy luggage. Hoever is was very convenient to the train station which we had been looking for.

After being in traveling through Italy and this being my last stop it was not as nice as I had expected. Nothing like the pictures. The room was larger then your usual Italian hotel rooms but the bed was at least 20yrs old. the shared bathroom was always free and clean on the floor. The location was the best you could imagine about a block from the train station but beware the street(alley is hard to find.(in a mini chinatown) The breakfast was suitable but was not the best of the italian breakfast I have experience but the service was good. My summary not bad for your euro. Clean bathroom and large room. Breakfast is nothing to talk about even though its included. Biggest perk location right next to the train if you can find the location also near water taxi. Biggest perk will hold luggage for you while you spend the day around Venice and you can pick it up on your way out to the train for no charge.

Our room was on the 4th floor. There were 80 steps to reach the 4th floor and it was a real struggle getting our bags up there. In addition, our room was at the front and was very noisy until the early hours. Breakfast - coffee was good but otherwise very uninspiring. Overall, you get what you pay for. The location was good and the hotel was adequate and reasonable value for money. The staff on the desk were friendly and helpful.
