The hotel is very close to the train station. Decent room and bathroom. The location is close to some great shopping which is cheaper than shops near the Rialto Bridge for example. Little tricky to find it exactly since it is around the corner down an alley. Food is also very good around here.

We had an OK stay at this "hotel". The directions given to use were excellent and quickly reached from the station. We found the room to be very noisy in the morning with "building" going on outside starting at about 6am. The place is within walking distance which we did as we found the water taxis too expensive and very crowded. Would probably not stay there again although we did enjoy Venice.

+ Very nice hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. + Even though being next to the busy street, hotel and its surrounding is very quiet. - We didn't get our own bathroom, although we paid for it. It didn't matter though, because there were only two rooms on the floor. - We missed a fridge.

Why do you call "Alloggi Henry" a hotel? It is a cheap Italian brothel run by two whores (one by the name Dina, the other is unknown) and two pimps (one is named Lorenzo, the other refused even to introduce himself). The staff was extremely rude and incompetent and not supportive at all. The A/C, TV set were not functional; rooms were extremely small and hot. I understand that Italian economy is in decline (it is a polite way of saying that it is in deep shit), but you should not think that you can screw your customers and "blame" them for your problems. Venere.com - never again use this site to make bookings! Information about the hotel provided on the website was utterly wrong, except for the proximity to the railroad station. The place is located in a small smelly corner of Venice, which is not as quiet as advertized. Despite all of that, Venice (but not the venicians) is beautiful!

Fair value for Venice, I suppose. The bathroom was a bit smelly and the room was small. Out-of-the-way location. But I didn't expect 5 stars for this price. I might return there if going back to Venice.

Lovely hotel worth much more than just 1 star, we believe this is because it doesn't offer breakfast. However there are numerous cafes and bakeries sorrounding to pick somethiing up in the mroning. Also vending machines in hall to get tea, coffees, snacks and beer all very cheap. It was very easy to find and is well located within walking distance of the main sites. We stayed for 3 nights and it was perfect, very clean and staff were helpful and friendly. We would definatly recomend to friends and family and would go back there if in Venice again.

We got off to a bad start because nobody was at the reception when we arrived. (They only came once we phoned them - $$$). The room was nice: quite, clean, spacious and there was a dining room with a TV (no cooking facilities though). The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the train station and 20 minutes walk from St Marks square - so a pretty good location. When we came to leave nobody was at the reception - so once again we had to spend $$$ phoning them to meet us. Some staff spoke marginal English but some staff spoke no English.

When we got there, we they didn't have room for us at the hotel. Instead we had to stay in a room in an apartment across the street. It was a 3rd floor walkup and looked nothing like the pictures on the website. Someone was already staying in the room so they moved their things while we waited. The shared bathroom was not cleaned the whole time we were there. We did not get clean towels after asking for them repeatedly. I expect a lot better service for 170 Euro/night.

This is a lighthearted place to stay. You were left alone, but equally if you had a problem they were happy to help. Laurence was a fun and excellent host. Our room was very small and not one of the ones shown in the photographs which was initially disappointing. However, the hotel was situated in a lovely quiet part of Venice, and on returning to your room in the evening it was always clean with a beautifully made bed and clean towels. There are no public areas apart from the small hallway, but eating breakfast in the local cafes is a must in Venice so it was great not to be tied into breakfast. We would happily recommend it.

Our two nights at Hotel Alloggi Henry were very comfortable. Situated in a quiet court, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Lorenzo made sure we felt welcome and we would definitely return. Although there is no breakfast included, there is always coffee and snacks available from the vending machine in the lobby and restaurants are very close by. The location is perfect for exploring Venice.

alloggi henry is a small hotel with no frills in a backstreet very close to one of the main tourist paths. my biggest complaint is that the room description says that all rooms come with a private bathroom but I booked a triple and didn't find out until i arrived that it had a shared bath. the rooms do not have air-conditioning and no screens on the windows means plenty of mosquito bites in the middle of the night if you decide to leave the window open.

This was a very nice hotel to stay at in a very pleasant quiet part of Venice easy to reach from the bus station. Very good price quality relationship and some real interesting small restaurants nearby (fi Osteria Ladroni, Fondamenta della Sensa; this small restaurant not only offered exquisite food but also made us feel as if we had entered into a Fellini movie.) Allogi Henry is an excellent small hotel for couples who want to visit Venice in a relaxed way, donot need a fancy hotel and want to stay away from tourists traps like StMarco. Rob Meloen

There isn't anybody in the hotel at night. If you get there late in the night..... You might spend a good while outside before someone comes to give you the key. The rooms don't have a phone, so if anybody wants to reach you, the reception tells them you don't want to be disturbed when you didn't leave any instruction, and won't even tell you someone aws trying to call you (which happened to me). This is a sign of very poor seriousness. The walls are like cigarette paper, and you can hear anything happening in the corridor and in the neighbour rooms. Otherwize, be aware that this "hotel" doesn't even propose a breakfast.... Fortunatly, rooms are clean and the hotel is very well located. I find the prices applicated in this hotel are very disproportionate with the quality of service. I know this is Venice, BUT, honestly, this is exagerated. No choice because reserving at the ultimate minute, but I wouldn't go back to this place.

Very ok, good value, excellently located near the San Marcuola vaporetto stop. Clean and proper. Lorenzo in the reception is a fine character, he really knows how to take care of his hotel guests. There is a certain charm in a place with just 8 rooms; you feel more like a house guest than a hotel visitor.

Since we were staying 3 days, the nice lady who greeted us at the hotel (owners sister we later learned) told us that a new apartment was available at the same price.Great! so, we took off with the Leonardo, the "bellman", crossed the grand canal, up some crazy little alleys, and in about ten minutes, arrived at the apt..after getting our bearings, which took a while, we did fine, living amongst the venetians in a real neighborhood.close by to little restaurants, bars, local shops, etc. Our second trip to venice, so it was fine not being in the hotel, but maybe not for just everyone:confusing at first,no amenities, and nothing connected to a hotel stay:i.e., telephone, internet connections, working tv, etc. You are on your own, in a different part of the city, so be adivised if this is for you..

This hotel was not our first choice in Venice, but they had an available triple, so we grabbed it. We did not have a map to the hotel so we had trouble finding it, but after calling for directions the wonderful, charming host, Lorenzo, came out looking for us. He took wonderful care of us and immediately rectified any concerns we had with the room. It was off the beaten path, but quiet and charming. Offering a breakfast would have been a plus, but overall we had no complaints.

This was the noisiest place we have been in Italy. The owners have no respect for people in room. After asking them twice to lower their voices, they still shouted and spoke very loudly. Add on top that the rooms are 12'X 12' (closet size), breakfast was supposed to be included and was not, that made for an overall bad experience.

We reserved a room with bath in February. When we arrived in July, we were told by the manager that we had actually reserved a room with shared bath, and a room with bath would be 20 Euros per day extra. After we made it clear that sharing a bath was unacceptable, we agreed to a room that shared a bath only with an unoccupied room. The bathroom door could neither be locked nor fully closed. The second night, the unoccupied room was rented to four young men. Since the bathroom was not secure, we were unwilling to stay in the room, and demanded to be moved. After a long, loud argument with the manager, we were moved to a room with bath. The room is convenient to both the Santa Lucia train station and vaporetto.

We arrived about 10 pm to find the hotel locked and until one of the guests finally answered the doorbell, we were not sure we would get into the hotel at all. There was a phone number on a piece of paper to call Henry, but we had no cell phone - we ended up using the key (behind the flower pot) to get into our room and checked in the following morning. Once that was resolved, it was a satisfactory lodging.

This was a double room with 4 twin beds to make it a quad. Absolutely no space for luggage. Bathroom was very small but adequate. Staff was on site at check-in but generally only available by phone. We needed to arrange transportation to the airport and were told by 3 different sources to have our "concierge" call for arrangements. No one at the desk, much less a concierge, and when we phoned the hotel staff, they were reluctant to perform this service. Had to phone 3 times to get them to do it! A good, clean, basic room. Proprietor was there to welcome us even though we did not arrive until 12.15 am. However we did email in advance to let the hotel know this. The map on the website is useless, luckily we had a good map with which we got there quite easily. It takes 20 min rather than the 10 given. We had a good stay and the accomodation is fine if all you want is a bed for the nights. A bit of noise as the local population got off to work in the morning but not too bad. Rather expensive for what it is but that seems to be Venice. Would use again.

We had a very bad surprise when we arrived at 9 pm because nobody waiting for us and we didn't find someone to give us the key of the room. It was too late to find a phonecard so we had to go in a restaurant to have some help to phone to the hotel's manager. This one explained us that the key was behind the flowerpot on the window. We didn't meet anybody else during our stay.

The hotel was very good value for money and it's location was very handy for both the railway station and a nearby supermarket. It is possible to walk from the hotel to all the central sights (St. Mark's Square, etc.- take a map, though!) and to the bus station, although the stepped bridges can be difficult to negotiate with suitcases. We were warmly received, although it would have been nice if there had been someone there on departure, too. It was good that the room had a tv and hairdryer and the hot drinks machine in reception, was a great idea and we made good use of it! (We were disturbed on a couple of occasions- once by football being played in the courtyard outside-although this didn't last long and wasn't at an unreasonable hour-and, on our final night, by loud tv and talk from a neighbouring room.) Overall, our stay was very pleasant, though, and I would cetainly stay there again, as well as recommending it to others.

I read up on someone else's review that they were unable to get into the hotel as the reception is not 24hrs so i have the hotel no ready and had a roaming phone.Got to the owner who let us in almost immediately and the service was good.Henry even brought us to his restaurant and the food was good.Make sure you try the Ink Squid pasta, what they call black pasta.Recommend this place as its near cafes, eateries. We flew into Venice from Paris,so take a bus from airport to a bus stop (buy bus ticket from information). Then to get to the hotel from the bus stop without dragging your luggage all the way (that's what we did as we didn't know)take a boat ride. You can get a day,3 day or a week pass. You can get to all sightseeing with the boat ride.Cheaper than taking the gondola. We took the train from Venice to Florence.Hotel is about 10 minutes walk from main Train station.Hope this helps

It was great and very cheap. The hotel was easy to find from the station and only 15 min to the center, but there are two different maps where the hotel is located but only one is right.

My boyfriend and I had difficulty finding the street where the hotel was located - I would recommend getting good directions before you arrive or you may end up wandering down dead-end streets for hours. The hotel was clean and nice... a short walk from the S. Marculoa vaporetto stop (it is easy to get to anywhere in the city from there). I would go back again .

Good value for the price. Visited in summer and would have liked an air conditioned room. Would be great in cooler weather.

This was the right place at the right time. A clean, quiet, cool (AC) shelter from the mid-day hot and humid Venice. It made the whole difference for our extended stay in this wonderful city. The neighborhood is vivid and lovely with many friendly places to eat on the banks of the rear canal. We would love to come back. David and Neta (father and daughter).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Allogi Henry. It was clean and well cared for. It was close to the train station, we could walk and we didn't have to worry about which vaporetto to take, etc. The only drawback is that there was no one in attendance and we had to call someone. We did not have a cell phone and would have had to walk back to a business or local phone facility, but a neighbor happened to walk through and used her cell phone to call the owner. Someone should be on premises to welcome guests at check in.

It was difficult to get in upon arrival. We had to call the management by phone--not so easy without a cell phone ourselves. And when the plumbing backed up, no one was available to tell and the floor got soaked. The room was pleasant and comfortable apart from these problems. Mostly the manager was invisible. Nice quiet area though and convenient to many places.

I stayed in this hotel with my wife for two days. I arrived Venice at about 3:00p.m. After searching the hotel for some time, finally we got it. However, no one was in the hotel until about 4:00p.m. Given hotel rooms in Venice be so expensive, this Hotel is generally fine and I might consider to come back again.

Small hotel offering rooms only - as described. Very pleasant people, clean and comfortable room, en suite. Ground floor, but bars and shutters on windows, secure. Quiet area, good access just off the main streets, easy to come and go with key to front door. Will return to this establishment if get opportunity.

The hotel was excellent in that it was a bed to sleep in for the night. The room was small but comfortable and the shower room also small but the location was perfect for accessibility into the narrow lanes of Venice. We did have a spot of trouble finding the hotel once we came off the No 1 route on Canal Grande so went and bought a map immediately and found it soon after that.

Very Spartan. The hotel is only 8 rooms all on one floor and seems to be family run. The people were friendly and the location was good. There was no breakfast offered and it was the most expensive hotel we stayed at, but that just reflects how expensive Venice is.

At 7 AM the hammering began outside our basement room. There were children playing soccer outside the window when the hammering stopped. People played their TV's in the alley where the hotel is located until after 11 at night. There were loud parties going on in the alley as well. There was rarely anyone at the front desk to ask for help. The bathroom was so small that I bumped my head on the wall trying to reach for toilet paper. It was our poorest experience and would never stay there again.

This clean hotel is in the heart of Venice and is a very good value. It was exactly what we needed. There isn't a full time staff, so be prepared to make a phone call to be let in. The room was small but very clean and comfortable with a private bath. Best value in Venice.

Really good place to rest your head after a day's sightseeing. Five minute walk (if that) to the Vaporetto, clean hotel and very welcoming staff. Simple, comfortable accommodation.

I would use this property again as its value for money and is in a really convenient location. After looking at other reviews I went with a good map and found it easily.I was expecting the delights of the breakfast I'd read about but think they must have stopped that now, there are cafes locally though. We arrived late and although there is a phone number on the door to call it does not include the international dialling code you need so despite being prepared and having mobiles we had to rely on kindly neighbours to call the lovely people who run this hotel who came to let us in immediately. This is not a posh hotel but you get what you pay for and its very convenient for shops, tours, station etc
