Unfortunately, the hotel is too faraway from the major areas of Venice. The frequency of trips to St Marks is not enough - and also not advertised well. The spa services - not the best in the world.

Whilst the hotel is no doubt beautiful, the room was pokey, our shower didn't work the first morning and we were woken up by the room above. But the biggest issue was service. The staff were very pleasant but you had to go and find the barman every time you wanted a drink and we were left stranded at St Mark's when the hotel boat broke down. Any other 5 star hotel I know would have simply sent a water taxi to get us rather than abandoning us. Then the hotel's response was unbelievable - they said the boat was not a guaranteed service - which was NEVER communicated, nor is it made clear on the website. It is a half an hour walk to St Mark's, which was fine on every other occassion than this one when we needed to get back to pack before diner. NOT a 5 star hotel - the rooms and service simply aren't up to that.

Beautiful and classy lobby, magical garden especially at night, nice quiet and true venitian neighborhood away from the tourist crowd, convenient private boat service, nice big bedroom overlooking the garden although wallpaper and furniture needs to be refreshed. On the down side : the bar closes too early, and the breakfast, restaurant and minibar are way too expensive. Overall, a very nice place to stay, a small intimate five stars with a good value considering the high prices of venice hotels.

It was a long way to the center/tourist area and the walk was not quick as the crowds in Venice were large. The hotel was quite nice, just didn't have a good location. The shuttle boat to St Marks Square didn't really run often enough.

Amazing.Breathtaking.Beautiful.Regal.First Class. One of the most remarkable and wonderful hotel experience I've ever had. It is off the beaten path, but it has a private boat service that takes giest into St. Marks' Square. It is also really easy to get to Muran, Burano and Torcello from the hotel. We went for New Years and we were so well looked after. I can't say enough about how great this hotel was. We look foward to staying there again

The first room we were given was tiny and faced the back of the hotel with the garbage; therefore it smelled. We were dissatisfied and were shown some other similar, unacceptable rooms. The next day we were switched to a much better room facing the street/canal and that was lovely. We were appreciative but it did take 24 hours for this to be accomplished. The front desk was helpful but not as friendly as at some other hotels in which we stayed. Also, the price of the room did not include breakfast, which was about 20 euros ($25). The location was very good and the recommendation for a cafe was excellent. The lobby was beautiful.

Beautiful hotel in a peaceful location - off the well trodden tourist routes but within comfortable walking distance of many bars/restaurants. Lovely garden with sunbeds for relaxation. Public areas of high quality. The room was rather expensive for its size and location. We stayed for 4 nights and most of the rooms on our corridor seemed to be allocated to tour groups. This meant disturbance from early risers and also that the maid service was ever-present (vacuum cleaners and laundry bins parked permanently on the corridor!) There was no view whatsoever from the room. Food and drink prices are very expensive in this hotel - however it is a lovely place to stay!

this hotel is a dream come true. We first came to this hotel in 1999, and we were very impressed. Nowadays, it s even better, because they extended the private garden, and is probably the only hotel in venice with a so huge garden. We were located at the end of this beautiful garden. The rooms were spacious with a lot of venitians charming details and a private patio with a table and chairs, unfortunately the weather was not part of the dream at the time, so we didnt used it very much, but nevertheless, it was quite enjoyable... This hotel is one our favorite all around the world because of its refined atmosphere, its perfect service, and also for its location, out of the most touristic area, near the casino, but only 15 minutes from San Marco. If you want to enjoy the real Venice, where you gonna meet real venitians, go to this hotel! I recommend strongly this hotel! which is, for me, almost perfect!

A beautiful place away from the normal hustling and bustling of Venice (but you can be there in 15' walk). We liked the lobby, the bar, the restaurant, the garden, the room. Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. - We liked the food at the restaurant, albeit a little bit pricey (Pesce crudo with a distinct Sashimi touch was delicious). Restaurant staff needs improvement (attention, skills). - The location indicated on Venere.com map was incorrect and we walked way too long. If it takes you longer than 3' from vaporetto station Madonna dell'Orto to the hotel then you are doing something wrong! - We will definitifely come back!!

An Excellent Base for your visit to Venice. The room needs redecoration, but was clean and comfortable. Service and the Front Desk was excellant, however the public rooms do not encourage guests to stay within the hotel at night. The Hotel restaurant & room service were extortionate !

The location is great, away from the noise and bustle and in a nice, quiet area. This made for a welcoming, quiet night's sleep. The free and regular boat service belonging to the hotel was an excellent way to get to St. Marks square, that does not take long. The hotel public areas are very good, spacious, attractive and cool. The garden in late April was excellent and made a nice place to sit in the evening. Breakfast was charged as an extra, while it was good with fast service, it is also expensive. I did not have a full dinner in the hotel, the restaurant was quiet and prices are high. Sampled the creme caramel, (best ever!) and ham and cheese plate, (very nice). The room was well appointed, a comfortable bed, good maid service. The only issue was that it was not very big, there are certainly larger rooms in the hotel than the one that I was allocated. I would stay there again.

The hotel was marvelous and definitely a bargain at the offseason prices. Even in January the garden is enjoyable and the rooms are very quiet and comfortable. The staff was attnetive, but not intrusive. While not near the center of town, the hotel boat was very convenient to reach the main sights and the vaporretto is just a quick walk away. But it was just as easy to walk back to the hotel from the center of town.

The Dei Dogi has a lovely hallway, a nice garden, some very small rooms and (though some were very good)too many incompetent staff. We cleared our own table in the bar, the barman making personal phone calls and swearing. When the shower did not work and I asked to be moved. Rather than receiving an apology I was reprimanded by the concierge, saying I should have complained earlier (I did, first thing in the morning but nothing had been done). The room though it had some nice marble was tiny, at the end of a hallway cluttered with dumped chairs with a window overlooking an indoor hallway in the hotel. 5 star? The entrance hall and the gardens, certainly, but this does not compensate for the rest. I have actually sent an email to the head office, but over a week has passed and there has been no reply, which leads me to think that all Boscolo hotels are to be avoided. Danny

the hotel was oke, impressing entrance. The room nice decorated, but much smaller then we espected and windows on a narrow streetside, no balcony. Because of the mosquitos we could not open the windows and we had to sleep with the noisy airco.Probably the reason for my haedache. Excellent breakfast in the beautifull garden. The restaurant serves only very expensive meals, in the neighbourhood you can not find restaurants. When we wanted to pay, it was not clear what we had to pay, the hotel did not know there was a special offer. The person at the reception reacted irritably.

This is a beautiful property, away from the crowds and noise of San Marco Square. Our room was quite large and well appointed. Our only complaint was that the only dining room was outside, which was uncomfortable during our stay with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees F. (We realize that this has been an unusually hot summer). We found the staff to be very professional and helpful.

We were very impressed with the hotel and staff. The staff were most helpful and assisted in every way. Because I follow a gluten free diet I had to ask them if they could toast my special bread and this was absolutely no problem at all and they provided the service every morning. I had booked an superior room, it was an older room very small, with not locking system from inside, the maid walked in on us a couple of times. The other rooms had the new card key systmes with deadbolts on the inside. For the money and location this was not the type of room I expected. Beside the room everything was great, they had a shuttle run every hour to and from Rialto which was nice.

While this Hotel may seem "distant" to the attractions, it is well within walking distance. Better yet, however, is the complimentary private boat shuttle provided by the Hotel. It was excellent. My boyfriend and I just love this hotel! We wanted to stay there more time. We are already planning to go again to Venice and stay at Boscolo again. The only inconvenience we had was finding the hotel for the first time. We arrived late at night and our only map was one from a Frommers guide. Once we find the hotel, we felt much better when they greet us like home. Boscolo hotel at Venice is just heaven!

The Hotel was superb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Web Site does not do justice to the quality of the hotel and its staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to see the sites of Venice but enjoy a quiet, relaxed atmosphere away from the main sites of Venice.
