Hôtel cosy, très bien implanté.

This hotel was a bit difficult to find (the nature of Venice perhaps). The map provided brought us to the vicinity of the hotel, but then actually finding it was a bit difficult. The staff at the hotel were able to direct us once we phoned however.

i liked my stay in hotel vagon very well. i was there in 3/2008. the staff was very friendly and i felt this "personal atmosphere from a familiy company". it`s a very small and friendly hotel and it`s in an excellent position on the city plan, directly in the near of rialto bridge, in "the heart of venice", in my opinion. So, if you want and if it`s important for you, you can ask for a quiet room, i had one of them. it`s without breakfast, but if you leave the hotel, there are everywhere, directly in front of the hotel, friendly bars and small restaurants. i loved this friendly and pretty place and whenever i`ll come back to venice, i will return to this property. thanks to al vagon for a really nice stay and my best regards to the friendly familiy-staff!

We stayed in a double superior room in the new section over the restaurant. We had a balcony overlooking the canal. We also saw the standard rooms which are also spacious with large bathrooms for Italy and they were a great value as well. Service very helpful. Location excellent. I think a one star rating for Al vagon is very low--3 would be more appropriate for the standard rooms and 4 for the superior. I have stayed in smaller, less convenient rooms for more money all over Europe and in venice as well. Would stay again, although not sure how many rooms have air conditioning, since we did not need it.

Everywhere in Venice seems to be expensive so can,t say too much more about price. No breakfast which also seemed to be fairly standard. Hotel was in a good location, though difficult to find (as is everywhere in venice - best to just use hotel directions for vaporetto then ask a shopkeeper to point you in the right direction of the hotel/restaurant - no point using a map!). Room was clean and comfortable, window overlooking canal. Noisy but could close windows and shutters at night to block it out (don,t think there was airconditioning for summer but there was a fan in the closet). Also no tv in room but this was no problem as we were out most of the time. Hotel did store our bags when we arrived early and left a few hours after checkout, but they were only stored in the hotel foyer and on the steps. Also, if you want to try walking to the train station (and you can find your way) its about a half an hour (slow) walk, with stairs up and down over canal bridges.

I booked a double and got 2 beds without breakfast. There was no relation between the price and the room. I would never stay there again.

The location is probably the only thing that relates to the price, as apart fronm that there was nothing special to the hotel. we got a superior room which was in fact very small, had no minibar, and was so warm and dry that we had to leave at 3am as unable to breath. i would expect a better service for that money

We had a standard canal view room reserved, but one was not available, so they gave us a superior canal view room. It was lovely, but cramped. Still excellent for the money. It was a bit difficult to find, but I just asked people questions--they were more familiar with the Al Vagon Restaurant than the Hotel.

The Al Vagon was a bargain for Venice-everything is quite expensive in Venice! Our large group was split between two buildings. The rooms in the main building were simple but quite sufficient and very clean. The rooms in the second seperate building were beautiful quiet rooms. This second building has been renovated quite recently by the looks of things and is gorgeous. *Hint-Venice is impossible to navigate by streets and maps so ask for directions at the info booths before leaving the trainstation or airport. We had no trouble finding the hotel and were very glad we asked. Our only complaint would be the on/off service we got at the front desk. One minute they were very helpful and the next time it seemed like you were bothering them - it was a little disappointing but nothing to worry about. The location is great for sight seeing as it is very close to the main attractions. The area is quiet and seemed safe at night and there were plenty of cafes and bars around. I would definetely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it without hesitation. The one star rating on Venere is inaccurate in my view.

la premiere chambre à 2 lits que nous avions réservé était vraiment trés petite et la douche et sde bains trés trés rustique ; ensuite nous avons changé et la chambre (située dans l'annexe )était parfaite.

We were satisfied with the hotel-next year we will choose it too. We think at the central places there is noise naturally. It didn't disturb us. The owners were very nice too

The hotel offered an upgrade as soon as we arrived which we accepted due to the new renovation and airconditioning. The new room (120 euros per night / Venice high season) was immaculate and newly renovated. We'd return to this renovated room (located nearby to the hotel. The hotel itself looked a little rundown, and our originally booked room a little average but about right for the 100 euros we'd booked it for.

Very handy location. Literally only a five minute walk to the Rialto bridge, and another five minutes to St. Marks square. No breakfast is provided and although the friendly owner said there were plenty of local cafes serving breakfast we hardly found any, although we were maybe expecting too much of the bacon and eggs variety and I think you just don't get this in Venice. The room was basic but adequate with a view over the local canal and was very picturesque. The hotel was quite hard to find and if you follow the directions given by the owner you are in for quite a hard slog if you are carrying heavy suitcases etc especially in the heat of the day. It might be wise to consider a water taxi which will take you right to the door from the airport

This hotel is excellent in most ways, quality, cleanliness and central location. I would not stay there again sadly because it is situated above a beautiful stone square with a cafe and pizzeria beneath. Our room overlooked the square and the noise level was very high because of reverberation from the stone.

This small hotel has an excellent location in the centre of Venice, which makes it very good value for money. It has only a small reception and doesn't offer breakfast, but the rooms are very clean and comfortable(and warm when necessary) and are all en-suite with ample hot water. I shall certainly go there again.

plain friendly clean ideally situated to go anywhere in Venice once you had found the hotel! The staff were always courteous and helpful and the cleaning of the rooms was done with nice little touches that showed someone cared. The only drawback was the noise at night from the street and their own excellent and atmospheric restaurant below the hotel.I would definitely stay there again but take ear plugs.

Well located in Venice and within easy reach of everything the hotel was simple but very clean and tidy. We didn't eat in the Restaurent but there are many good places to eat within a few minutes although the hotel restaurent did look very nice and the menu seemed comprehensive. Nice room, nice stay, a little expensive but not relatively so - Venice isn't cheap. Well worth a visit.

With the exception of a most unwelcoming man when we checked in (which was late due to a train delay which is why I rated the welcoming so low), the folks could not have been nicer. We asked to change rooms because ours was quite small and the readily accomodated us. The location was great. We ate at the restaurant at the hotel which was also quite nice. I would recommend to pack lightly as you have to climb some steps to get to the rooms. All were nicely appointed and quite comfortable. There is a lot of canal and street noise, which I liked but others may not.

We had a great stay in Al Vagon. The room was small but very clean, quiet, and the best thing was the view: from the window we saw a little canal. The hotel doesn't have any public areas, but it wasnt' necessary! We spent 3 days in Venice just if we were living in a private flat. The hotel area was great! Crowded during the day (lots of shops and restaurants) but really quiet during the night. As Venice is a very expensive place, the hotel was expensive if you compare it to the same hotel in a different city, but you pay a fair price comparing the hotel to other hotels in Venice.

I feel like it was incorrectly advertised as it was in a very noisy part of venice filled with so much foot traffic and noise. It was a main thoroughfare from the boats in the canal to the Rialto. It was like an echo chamber all night. My wife and i could not sleep at all and she was very stressed about it. the pictures on the internet made it look a lot better than it actually was. We had to check out after only 1 night and cancel our reservations for the remaining 4 nights. We were very unhappy to have paid 160E per night for such a bad place. I would like to have a partial if not full refund as we could not even get to sleep under those conditions. Luckily we ended up finding a much quieter place far away from the crowds and even at a better price. My wife and I are both teachers in the U.S. and we have many friends who travel. I will not recommend the Al Vagon and I'm not even sure about Venere.

Fab location just minutes from the Rialto bridge - and for its location is not a bad price. No air-con but fan provided. Does not include breakfast. Small room but had all essentials.

The hotel is in a lovely, less touristy area of Venice. The room was small but very clean with an adequate private bath. Unfornately the noise from the resturant below and the canal made for disruptive sleeping. It would be a wonderful place to stay if they add air conditioning to the rooms so you can close the windows for a cool restful night. Once the sun goes down in Venice giant mosquitoes come out and torture you all night when the windows are open.
