It was a worth for money hotel which is close to railway station. few Halal food for muslims available nearby. Charged 10 euro for 2 kids under 12 including breakfast which is worth. dont's expect a extra large shower room. No lift. overall it was a pleasent stay at reasonable rate.

Room were very dark and cold. There was no lift so we had to carry our lugagge two sets of floors and across a corridor to another entrance to the rooms.
Overnight the temperature dropped to 5 degrees C and the heater was not switched on. The following night they switched on for 10 min and turned off again. On the same day we went to do our laundry and when we returned there was this unbearable smell of faeces all over the room as they were pumping sewage outside. We did not have a good time. Breakfast was ok. However the internet access was not located at the hotel it is outside in a internet caffe and costs about EU 1.60 for 1/2 hour.

Venezia Mestre is a wonderful alternative to staying in Venezia. It is only a 10 minute trip, by train or bus, to reach the tourist areas of Venezia.
Hotel Roberta is a short walk from Mestre train station and there are restaurants and shops very close to the hotel.

This place is in Mestere Which contrary to Rick Steves reviews of NOT staying there I found to be a relief from the crowds of Venice. It's a 10 minute 1 Euro train trip which runs every 10 minutes. the station is about a 3 minute walk from the hotel. This Hotel was nice and inexpensive. BUT DO Not get a room that faces the side alley. It is the back part to a restaurant and customers and owners of the place are out there at all hours yelling and smoking cigarettes. I was awakened
at 1 Am by several people yelling and making waaaaay too much noise. I would stay there again Just NOT on the alley. also I was given a Single room with a bed so small I could hardly roll over.

After we arrive no tea service in the hotel. Atleast they can offer a cup of tea. English Language problem with most of the staff. Only the boss and one of the Indian clener English was OK.

Nice hotel in very quiet area. Short distance to train terminal an bus stops for travelling into Venice center. Ok, but not more, breakfast. Reception staff speaks little english. A few free parking lots in front of the hotel.

Firstly, the website says the hotel is 200mtrs from the train station. It's close but not that close. We had to walk for quite a while to find it late at night and the area isn't great so we were a little bit nervous. From what I saw on the website I was expecting a big hotel on the main street, it's a tiny hotel on a back street. Also, while the staff were nice we didn't find them very professional.

We stayed at the Roberta for six nights in June 2007, and were very happy with both the room and general service. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and spoke English well enough to be of great assistance to us during our stay. The hotel is situated just a short walk from Mestre central railway station, as indicated on the website. This proved ideal for our daily trips to Venice Island and other day trips to places like Padova and Trieste. The hotel breakfast consisted of a substantial continental buffet with coffee on tap via a superb machine, and the dining room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I think the price of the rooms is about right for the quality of the hotel, and the room was comfortable enough except that the bed was a little hard for our liking. Rooms would also benefit from the inclusion of a tea/coffee facility to be a little more welcoming. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend the hotel Roberta for a short stay and for it's handiness.

Very good location, close to the railway station.
Air condition not bad in summer! Clean room and spacious shower. Breakfast better than the average Italian one. A small grocery and a bar next to hotel.

My single end-of-the-hall room was comfortable, quiet, clean, and modern as was the bathroom which was also well-lit and had a very spacious, well-designed open shower area. The hotel has a very cheerful breakfast room that is too small for the number of guests but this could be compensated for if the food choices offered were more interesting. Roberta herself is friendly and helpful but some of her staff should definately learn to smile to convey a guest-friendly and positive attitude even while attending to little annoying logistical problems like, for example, the over-crowded breakfast room. There currently is no elevator but hopefully there will be one next year. The location is very convenient for the Mestre train station and bus connections to Venice. The property seems well-kept and regularly re-invested in and is a worthy choice for both first and return visits.

I stayed here in early June this year, and I was very satisfied with the property. Except for room size (too small) and a little disturbance from the road outside, my stay was very comfortable. Absolutely safe, a very homely place, and value for money. The surroundings are good, lots of restaurants, bars, shopping stores. Overall, an very satisfying experience, recommended.

Emplyees are not fluent in English for foreigners. The record of guests is not easy, incoming phones could not be redirected because the switchboard could not find the guest's name in the listing...

Everything was just great at Hotel Roberta. It is a good alternative if you want to visit Venice at peak time. We visited during Carnival, therefore all prices were outrageously inflated... Staff was friendly and helpful...Bring your own maps though

This hotel was further from the station then it looks on the map. The area is a bit scary. Lots of older rough looking single guys hanging around and cat calls, etc. It could have been due to my being a woman alone, but it was not a place I would stay at again. By contrast, spent one night on Venice (island not mestre) and it was fine to walk around at night with no problems. the hotel is nice and has all the goodies, more like a holiday inn then the typical budget european room.

My husband, me and a couple of friends have spent 15 days travelling in Italy, on January/07. After passing through many cities we have arrived at Venezia Mestre and we had a great surprise. The Hotel Roberta, that we have reserved at Venere.com, was really what the photos showed: very close to the train station (2 blocks), a modern reception room, spacious and clean bathrooms and rooms and a very nice and complete breakfast. Comparing with the other Hotels we have stayed in Italy, this one was the best of them, not just for the rooms, but also the great welcoming.

Excellent choice if you want to be within walking distance of the train station. Neighborhood working class;no attractions. Adequate petit dejeuner included in room rate. Staff not overly friendly and night desk guy rather brusque. Terrific family restaurant right next door.

Of course, this is not the romantic Venice. But for a business in Mestre, or to run the Venice Marathon where everything is located in Mestre, this hotel is excellent. It served an early breakfast for the runners. In addition, there are two very good restaurants in the neighboorhood.

I think it's the best solution if you want to stay outside of Venice, maybe nothing around but the hotel just refurbished, the boss of hotel has a unique charecter, but I think it's the best hotel I can find near Venice.....don't hesitate to book it...

I had a single room, which was very small. Reception desk is minimally staffed - I think it was one of the maids that took me to my room. When there was someone at the front desk they were usually on the phone. I'd rate hotel as average, but convenient to rail/bus station, and restaurants.

The hotel is fine, but please warn future guest of the restaurant:
as we wanted to have just a small dish at night, we went to the restaurant in the hotel's building.
It was the restaurants owner whom we told clearly that wanted to eat just a little bit as we were tired from a long drive.
He took some notes and then kept on serving plate after plate which I did not feel that I have ordered them. Upon refusing to take any more (multiple dishes untouched on the table) - we received that outrageous bill. We were "pulled over the table", with a bill of 78 Euro.
Please warn other, future guests not to go to that restaurant.

Sure, the lobby is very elegant. But the rooms are another story altogether. A very cramped and oddly furnished space. 2 reading lights - one was missing, the other was not functioning. One electric bulb out in the bathroom. It is indeed conveniently located near to the station. But I'd rather spend a few euros more and not end up in a closet.

The Hotel reception staff very welcoming, polite and helpful. I greatly enjoyed my stay. Its closeness to the station was very useful for getting into Venice.
Breakfast was not good, only one person on duty and not enough food for everyone there.
I found the location map hard to follow. It did not show the one-way streets.

I strongly recommend this hotel. Excellent location if you're going to Venice by train (only takes 10min!!!). My friend and I travelled with big & heavy pieces of luggage, and were able to carry them from and to the train station with no problem (be aware though that both the hotel and the train station do not have elevator!). Staff was very helpful (provided all info we needed, and even arranged for some breakfast to be available earlier on the day of our departure). Breakfast was excellent! Room size was kind of tight, but we only stayed for 2 nights, so it was Ok. Everything at the hotel looked like new and it was decorated in a very nice style and with attention to detail.

This is a small quiet hotel about a 5 minute walk from the train station. Walking w/luggage is fine, due to sidewalks. There is very little to due in this city, however, if you are visiting Venice or other cities, then it's ok. Venice is a 10 minute train ride (2 euro R/T per person). The hotel is small, but our room was spacious, clean, and on the ground floor. We spent 160 euros for 2 nights, which I thought was a bit high for this city. The staff were friendly and spoke English.

We stayed in a double-bed room which was small but considering that we spent little time there it was good. Very close to the station and convenient to get to Venezia which was the main reason for our visit. Mestre also offered all conveniences. Can really recommend for this situation.

Overall, the hotel was very good. We knew that this hotel was far from Venice, but was very convenient to leave the car and ride the train for 1 stop from Venezia Mestre (4 blocks away from hotel) to Venezia Santa Lucia (the Venice you see in the movies!). If you bear this in mind, this is a very nice place to stay.
On the negative side, room was somewhat small, there was no elevator (we had 1st floor so we managed). Neighbourhood around the hotel is not particularly nice, but provides simple and good restaurants and a nearby internet cafe.

Brand new renovation about 200 meters from train station on level, smoothly paved ground.
Sign outside train station directing one to Roberta. My next trip to Venice I will stay at Roberta and take bus across bridge to Venice proper since the same quality hotel in Venice proper would cost at least twice as much.

Great value for money! The location makes this a perfect budget hotel for anyone staying in Mestre. It is close to Mestre train station and situated on a quiet side street. Perfect after a hot day in crowded Venice. Breakfast was also very good. The only funny thing is that the reception is all glass and chrome and it looks very modern while the rooms are old style. Anyway-I will definately come back!
