The furniture of the room had great character being old, location was central, nice to come out to the piazza und not having trams and cars passing by. The staff was helpful. My room was facing the back and I couldn't leave the window open at night because of the noise of some kind of generator down in the yard, which made the room stuffy

This hotel is a good value for the price. It is located in a building housing various professional offices, and occupies one upper floor. The desk clerk was helpful and friendly. The facilities are a bit shabby and worn, consisting of older mismatched furniture, but that was alright with us. Not a room to spend time in, but adequate for a place to sleep, and centrally located.

You can't call it a hotel. It's a converted flat in several rooms with facilities but of the level of a Meuble. A really dingy entrance-cum-reception more like a second class hostel, but it's in an excellent building right in the center. The family running it hope to be able to improve it. Worth €60.per day.not a penny-more.1-star is alongside the name. Till next time, Lorraine & hubby.

Ora so già dove pernottare se torno a Torino!! Zona perfetta, camera di qualità superiore a ciò che mi aspettavo; unica pecca, bagno minuscolo.

I was really schocked by the poor level of the hotel. The entrance furniture was filty and so was the carpet everywhere. The quality of the bed(I was staying in a double bed room with my daughter) totaly basic. There was a man shaving in a bathroom open on the corridor. On such a central splendid square it is scandalous to find an hotel so durty.. No breakfast, no airconditioning.. a bit poor. I run away early morning looking for an other hotel.

Hotel San Carlo was a reasonable stay for the price. The room and bathroom was small, with average amenities. I suppose this is a good deal for Torino, but was on the low end of accommodations for us. We weren't sure which train station it was close to (Porta Nuova) based on maps. Good access to all tourist sites. For 10 euro more we stayed at an excellent hotel in Florence.

Very well located in the city, this hotel is old fashion with poor confort (old materials, no conditionned air, etc..). Almost ten stairs to reach the lift going the the hotel (level 4 of a big house), with a heavy luggage..!

Great location on the Piazza San Carlo but unfortunately they were installing underground parking when I was there, so the beautiful square was in uproar and hidden by huge barriers. Beds were too soft and rather narrow and the shower was cramped with a teeny-weeny towel like those hilarious ones in the recent 'Starsky and Hutch' movie. The hotelier was friendly and helpful, however and, since it was decidedly budget accommodation, I was pretty happy with my stay on the whole. Good location, within walking distance of all Turin's fascinating sights.

Unfortunately, the city of Torino is almost completely under construction because of the preparations for the Olympic Winter Games in Spring 2006. The Piazza San Carlos is a deep , dusty and noisy hole at the moment to host an underground car park in the future. Besides this temporary restriction, the hotel is used mainly by groups of young people who are often having parties all night long. So don´t expect to get much sleep under these conditions.

Great setting right on San Carlo Square. Very quiet room but very cramped for two people. The bed heads squeaked every time you sat on them and we were very disappointed that our towels were not replaced for the second night especially as they were thin and not very absorbent.

The San Carlo Hotel is situated directly at the famous Piazza San Carlo, one of the most beautiful piazzas in Torino surrounded by arcades of marble with nice cafes and shops. The Piazza is at the very heart of Torino, you can not get more in the centre. There is no traffic on this piazza so it is generally quite, my room was situated on the back of the building so no noise except for a a/c humming. When I was there, the piazza was closed for construction work, which was a shame as it must be gorgeous. The hotel is on the 4th floor of the building, you need to look hard to find it in the arcades. Only a very small sign states that there is a hotel, and not even with the name on it. So be sure to take the street number with you! The personnell at the reception was very friendly and the price was as stated. The room itself was quite spacious with a small bathroom. In the room, there were two beds, a small table with a chair, a wardrobe and some drawers. The interior must have seen better days, all in all it looked quite shabby... There was a TV set but only with Italian programs, no English or other European programs. The room was cleaned and the beds had been tidied, but overall I have to say that the cleaning stuff did not do very well. Worst was an used Q-tip lying on the floor. Overall: if you want to be in the heart of Torino (which I recommend) and can live with the things stated above, I can recommend this hotel to you.

Slightly tired interior but welcoming. The location is unbeatable - on the main square; one of our two rooms had a view of the square. Only some rooms have AC, the elevetor is tiny; but the rooms and public areas are very spacious. Would stay there again.

San Carlo was an absolute toilet. The worst hotel I've ever been in. We were booked in for four nights but left after the first night. Dirty, dark, shabby and uncomfortable is about all I can stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

The hotel is about 10 - 15 minutes away from the railway station (on foot). It's easy to find it. It is situated in one of Torino's nicest piazza. It's in the 4 th floor (elevater) and the rooms window went to a quiet piazza on the back of the house.

Used this hotel because it was close to the railwaystation and about the only reasonable priced hotel in Turin (alhough the 70 euros we paid for a double was the most expensive hotel we stayed in during our interrail trip). The hotel is on the 2nd or 3rd floor and is perfectly placed on the Piazza San Carlo. Had a room on the backside of the hotel. Room on frontside has better view but is also much noisier. Would stay here again.

The San Carlo isn't flashy, but it's clean, warm, friendly, REALLY cheap and in the most perfect location in all of Turin. The view was phenomenal. I'd definitely both stay there again and recommend the hotel as a basic option.

Hi everybody, I was lucky to book this hotel in the very centre of Turin for reasonable price. The room was 4bed, but the roof window could not allow the air to flow into. In very, very hot days ( 39-41dgr Celsius ) there was maybe 40-45 inside, could not sleep due to temp and noice. Air conditioning or at least some ventilator would be great. Bst rgds.

The hotel is fine if you want to stay in the centre of the city. If you want to park your car, don't do this on the square but in the streets in the environment or in the parking near the hotel. If you don't like to sleep in a room where the temperature is dreadfully high, then don't go to this hotel in summer.

Overall: Nice place right in the center. Private keys for access (no need to wake up people when returning in the middle of the night). - No non-smoking rooms available; the room had a really awful smell. - Bed was old and noisy; matress had been used for ages (nothing for people who have problems with their back). - Towels were really bad (even below hostel-standard) and did not get changed once. - No replacement toilet paper in the bathroom. - Shower curtain was broken and quite dirty on the inside.

It is a simple but good place. Turin is not very cheap, the rooms are clean, the beds are a bit "soft", ask for a room with the window looking inside, not on the S.Carlo square, which is very noisy during the weekend.

A nice and simple hotel to a very good price. It is a good feeling to come into the area where the hotel is located and enter the beautiful house which hosts the hotel rooms. The hotel is placed at the Piazza San Carlo, a really nice Place. Beside that, Torino itself is rather boring

Hotel was clean and the staff friendly & helpful. The rooms are very basic and furniture is old but they are clean. There is a TV, private bathroom & fridge ( empty ) in the rooms ( mine anyway ). It is situated in what must be the most beautiful Piazza in Turin. It is surrounded with expensive shops and caffe's. However, round the back streets near by are loads of cheap caffe's, ristorante & Bars. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The hotel, although one star, is generally of excellent quality. It is run by a really nice and friendly Italian family who are most kind and helpful. The view from the hotel overloks the Piazza San Carlo and is beautiful. Very central location and close to the train station. An excellent facility at a very affordable price, if you are on a budget then this should be top of your list.
