This hotel was wonderful the staff were excellent, offering to drive us to the Pompei ruins and collect us when we were finished for no charge. The meals were fanatastic. What a great experience

The employees where realy kind and helpful. The bed was too hard. The breakfast had no fresh bread nor fresh juices, only packed sweets and a terrible "orange" juice. We didn't expect that in Italy where there is good bread and fruit. We had one excellent lunch wich was very good and abundant.

Great base to explore Naples and Pompei and Herculaneum etc. Pompei only about 4 km away. Secure car parking in grounds. Torre Annunziata itself is a bit of a wasteland - shabby and down at heel. Hotel close by to station also. Hotel restaurant provided a good evening meal. Breakfast excellent also - including great croissants!! Recommended to those travelling by car.

(see english text below) Wir hatten sieben Übernachtungen im Grillo Verde. Salerno, Ausfahrt Vietri). ENGLISH TRANSLATION: We stayed for seven nights in the hotel Grillo Verde and enjoyed the hotel very much. The rooms are well equipped and very clean. The street noise was hold away in a sufficient manner when the windows were closed. We had dinner nearly every evening in the hotel restaurant and didn't never regret it. We would stay again in that hotel. Some hints: The distance to Pompeji is appr. one mile and can subsequently reached by feet. The access road to the Vesuv starts in the neighbor village (Torre del Greco). You can drive 1000 meters upward by car, but you must walk the last 300 meters to the top of that vulcano (the cable car was closed 10 years ago). The coast between Neapel and Sorrent is in reality one non-stop city, although it doesn't look so on the maps, and very stressful to drive in order to reach Stabia and Sorrent. Swimming in the

Hotel fairly basic but fine for visit to Pompei. Room and meals perfectly adequate and very short walk from the station. Receptionist kindly gave us a lift to the ruins and we walked back (2-3kms). Town is rough but interesting local colour.

This was an excellent hotel to stay. The staff are friendly and kind. The food is fantastic. If you are using public transport you buy the bus tickets from the tobacconist. It is cheaper to buy tickets and transport for vesuvius and pompeii from the train station at pompeii which is right next to the ruins. Be carefully at night near the hotel, that wasn't a problem for us though as we had dinner at the hotel. The only area that would have improved our stay was the noisy people in the room next door, but this would certainly not prevent us from recomending this hotel or returning.

The town of Torre Annunziata was something of a disappointment. Not much to do there in the evening. But the hotel itself is like a beautiful oasis in the town's main square. Its restaurant was first rate. The service was first rate. The rooms were very nicely designed and furnished and cool. And the owner was very helpful and accommodating. We left our car at the hotel and walked the 1.5 Km to the ruins at Pompeii. We'd stay there again.

Very good, pleasant, helpful and efficient staff. Don't be put off by not very pretty surroundings, the quality more than makes up for this, and the food and facilities are first-rate. Quite a hike from the Circumvesuviana trains, but lifts from hotel are freely available. Much closer to Torre Annunziato station on the Metropolitan service from Naples (about 100 metres).

I was VERY pleased with my stay here. The staff was extremely helpful. He even drove us from the hotel to the pompeii ruins entrance in his personal car! at 9:00 p.m AND picked us up at 10:30 ! unbeleivably great :-) the room was very clean. the only problem I see is that the hotel is about 1 1/2 miles from the pompeii ruins. AND from the closest circumvesuviana station. (pompeii or torre annunziata). But the hotel staff more that made up for it :-) Would surely recommend it.

I liked the place. The people there were personable, and helpful. Since it is family owned, and operated, the general atmosphere was very relaxed, low-stress, and comfortable. This was one of the few hotels with well posted, visable signs that will lead you easily to their location. The surrounding community can be a bit tough to maneuveur to visitors, but the easily found, very affordable, very delicious food makes up for it (this area had some of the best food I had in all of Italy)! The hotel also offers an on-site resturant (which was quite good as well), postcards & books on the surrounding areas/tourist attrations in several different languages, coffee/spirits bar (a small one), a common TV viewing area, and internet access. I would stay there again. Not only for the fact that I was able to relax undisturbed, than for the food!

This is a pleasant three-star hotel offering excelent value-for-money. It is located within 300 metres of one of Torre Annunziata's railway station (the other station is about 20 minutes walk away but there is a frequent bus service). The only caveat I have is that Torre Annunziata is a shabby little town with a reputed high crime rate and few facilities. However, it is convenient to Pompeii and has the wonderful Roman villa of Oplonta which is better preserved than any villa in Pompeii. Strong walkers can climb Vesuvius from the town which is much more rewarding than driving or taking the bus from Ercolana.

Hospitality & Food was excellent. We arrived after lunch had finished and were treated to an excellent authentic pizza. The hotel is conveniently located near the railway station in a pleasant piazza. There is a frequent bus service between Pompeii and the hotel although the walk is only 800 metres. The only small drawback was that the television was often on during mealtimes which was an unwelcome distraction.

A terrible place to find, don't let the simple looking map fool you! Once found the Grillo Verde was like an oasis in the desert. Situated in the middle of a pretty grotty area but very close to Pompeii. The manager was very helpful and ran us to the station closeby where you can easily catch a a train to Naples or Sorrento or anywhere in-between! The hotel staff were generally helpful and the food was good. Nice to hear 'The Clash' on the piped music at breakfast!

the hotel owners were extemely helpful and accompanied the guests to varous localities in the area which eliminated the worries one may have associated with the surrounding areas, which were not particularly nice. One of the train stations is only 100m away and made travelling to and from Naples very easy. The rooms were modern, comfortable and clean with the only problem of the rather thin walls. Overall, an ideal location and valid hotel for visiting Pompei, Naples and Sorrento.

Other than the unappealing pale green paint in the room (I guess not surprising with a name like Grillo Verde), this was a nice stay and very close the Pompeii ruins. The neighborhood wasn't that great (more like Naples than Sorrento). The proprietor was very accomodating with our late arrival (near midnight). Given prices tend to be a little lower in Southern Italy compared to Rome, we thought this place was just a little bit pricey for the the value but the price might also reflect its proximity to the Pompeii ruins.

Mom, Dad, & 20 yr old daughter wanted to visit Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius, Oplonti, etc. This was the ideal place to stay. Very nice room, great local food in the hotel restaurant (ask for the specialty of the day!) Seeing New Year's Eve from the loggia balcony was a very memorable experience! Family flavor to the management, very accomodating and helpful, pleasant. We hated to leave, we had such a good stay. Easy to get to and to tour the area from, either by car or by train and bus (it really is just a long block from Torre Annunziata Centrale station. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially the people who make it such a delightful experience.
