Hotel Albula - Bagni di Tivoli Tivoli

First of all Bagna di Tivoli and historic Tivoli (with the fountains) are not the same location. This hotel is in a rough park of town and we were miles from where we'd hoped to be. The hotel was another mile from the local bus stop. I was afraid we'd be mugged as we pasted graffitied playgrounds to get there. We arrived to the hotel to find it gated with a lock. The hotel is more of a mom and pop type of place. The people there were nice, but I felt too unsafe. I pride myself on making the most of crazy travel situations but when we finally got into our room I burst into tears. This was not the romantic imagine I'd had in mind when I planned the trip. The room was small and felt unwelcoming. The walls were so thin the neighbor's bathroom fan kept me up half the night. (They were the only other guests in the hotel and they were right next door). The bed was painfully uncomfortable. In the middle of the night I heard someone trying to break in at our window. Fortunately a local dog barked enough to scare them off. We got up at 5am the next day to hike to the train station to get the heck out of there.

A budget hotel in a characterless suburb with significantly lower rates than the equivalent in Rome or even Tivoli, and with good rail and road links. Worth considering if you really need to save money and just want somewhere to sleep. On the debit side we found the bathrooms under maintained, although clean. We appeared to be the only guests in March. The one member of staff we met was pleasant and did his best to be helpful in a shambolic sort of way. It would be useful to have a poor sense of smell,high noise tolerance and low appetite. Someone left at 4am on both nights of our stay, accompanying this operation with lengthy and loud ablutions,voluble conversation and seemingly wearing concrete shoes. The local"famous spa" gives off sulpherous fumes which lend an interesting bad egg aroma to all proceedings. There was no breakfast available in March, but a cavernous dining room does exist, and presumably offers breakfast in high season. We breakfasted in a local bar, five minutes away by car. You get what you pay for. This hotel is clean and cheap, but needs to get a grip, even in the context of "budget" accommodation.

Nice newly renovated and clean rooms. Friendly staff. Was hard to find, since the address of BAGNI di TIVOLI doesn't appear on the road signs, but is called TIVOLI TERME.

Room itself was ok. Continental brackfesst could not eat nor drink a coffee. Apart from the room no additional services at all. In an timeframe of 2 years this hotel can be closed because there is no maintinance at all.
