We enjoyed our stay very much and found the hotel to be much better than expected. Perhaps the web site should be updated to refect that the hotel is actually very modern. We were given an excellent room with a very nice sea view. While the location is a little inconvenient it is very quiet and not too far to walk to the beach. Breakfast was excellent.

Friendly staff, good room but hotelaccommodation needs a total face-lift. Breakfast presents every day the same cheese, ham, salami and cold boiled eggs. Toaster and chafing dish on the buffet but never toast or scrambled eggs available (don't show what you don't offer!!). Menu at dinner is too standard. Overall opinion: after season price/quality in good relation, meets expectations.

On the outskirts of Pisa - half way between Pisa and Livorno with convenient bus links.
Overlooking the National Park and golf course. view of the sea, in the sea resort of Tirrenia. Restaurants, shops and amenities 5 minutes away.
Dinner was disappointing, two choices and not very substantial.

Great hotel. Excellent location. Great views from the upper floors! Staff very friendly & mostly knowledgeable about the area & how to get from a to b. Food good (we only had breakfast). Pool area excellent. One BIG down side we could see was the lack of disabled facilities in the public areas. We saw one couple having to struggle up the steps into the dining room with their wheelchair-bound teenager. Another down side was no discount for hotel guests to use the hotel's private beach.

We chose Tirrenia for our first night's stay in Italy because we did not want to drive far in a hired car on our first night. It was a good choice. The hotel was very pleasant, and the rooms huge, more like suites, with cooking facilities. As we were only there one night, we did not take advantage of all the facilities, although we did walk down to the very nice sandy beach.

I love this place! Tirrenia is a small resort between Livorno and Pisa. Not every Italian knows about this small place. But Tirrenia has everything you need for a great vocation: wonderful air due to pine forest, the sea, the beaches, the restaurants, ententainment, the kids park, shops ect. On top of that it takes 20 minutes to go to Livorno or Pisa by bus (goes every 30 minutes). Both cities have central stations and you may travel to any city in Italy from there. This is exactly what we did. When the weather was hot we stayed on the beach. In the evening we went to Pisa or Livorno or just stayed in Tirrenia. When the weather was good for traveling we visited Florence (1 hour by train from Pisa), Luca (40 minutes by bus from Tirrenia), Siena (15 minutes by taxi from Florence). And I really like the Grand Hotel Golf. My first stay was only for 2 nights but that was enough to start planning the second trip which we arranged in June. It's an old fashioned italian hotel with big rooms, a real bath in the big bathroom and a big balcony. There is a swimming pool in the hotel - clean and cool. The service is very good, old fashined style (it's when people greet you not because it's their duty, but because they feel like that). Soon everybody knows your name and your preferences for breakfast drinks and dinner wine. The piano player performes every weekend and he is just fabulous. At the reception you will get directions and advice if you need any. The hotel has internet access in the lobby 1 hour - 3 EUR. It's acceptable to pay once and use internet several times for short sessions. The hotel has it's own beach 10 minutes away from it with all the things organized very well. Though we used a free beach which is very close to the hotel's one.

Excellent value for money. Location is both pleasant and very accessible if you have a car (as most guests seemed to). The room was spacious and well equipped. Other reviews criticising the restaurant seeemed overly fussy. The meal was perfectly acceptable, but if I am looking for somewhere outstanding to eat then I do not look for a hotel! Very satisfied.

This was a four star hotel which was four star in many respects but the breakfast was worse than that enjoyed in a two star hotel eg no fruit, stale bread, mediocre coffee, overall choice very limited. Scrambled eggs every day and no other hot choice. Despite being late May with temps in mid 20s and beaches crowded the hotel pool was closed because 'it was low season'. The pool looked clean and inviting and is set in lovely gardens which were maintained to a high standard. Otherwise an excellent hotel well located for touring Tuscany.

As journalist I have often to stay in different hotels all over the world and for holidays I prefer Italy. The recommandation for the Grand Hotel Golf in Tirrenia was exactly right. It´s a charming, relaxing place with very kind and helpful people. Only the restaurant could be much better - its far away from the famous italian kitchen.
For the rest: It was the first time that I booked over the web and a very good experience because it was - compliments to venere - an easie going way and worked quick and perfect. Absolutly sure I do it again! And will tell this to my friends and write about it for my readers. Tante grazie a tutti!

A very enjoyable stay. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the facilities ( pool and garden) were superb.A little disappointed by the restaurant but the lunchtime service was excellent. Views and location were very good. Highly recommended.

The hotel is in need of a major upgrade. The rooms were spacious but the furniture was old and most of the facilities have seen better days. The bathroom fittings and general state of repair of the plumbing was poor. The corridors were dark and musty. As a family group we had 3 separate double rooms - and the comments apply to all the rooms.
I would rate the hotel as a two star hotel based on comparisons with hotels we stayed in Venice, Pisa, and Rome during our holidays in Italy.

comparing 4* Sorrento with this hotel was very much poorer in quality but the best in this area. Looks as if whole hotel needs a bit of a face lift as this has not been improved or modernised for some time. Having said this the hotel was clean and tidy and best in this area

This hotel is not IN Pisa, but a beach community north of Pisa. It is an unusual property, set basically in a wooded area near to a golf course, with rooms far more spacious and functional than luxurious. It is, in a word, unusual, but very nice.
