Hotel Cristina was probably the nicest and most breath taking hotel we have ever stayed at. It is situated on the top of a mountain in Sorrento. Our room which was facing the front of the hotel, had a walkout balcony that overlooked the Vesuvio valcano in Naples and the Amalfi Coast. We had air conditioning and the washrooms were a little small, but big enough for us. The hotel's open concept with lots of windows throughout, made the stay exceptional. The breakfast was fantastic, served on the 5th floor of the hotel. It was very delicious and consisted of cereals, breads, sweets, cheeses, cold cuts, juices, coffee and fresh fruits. They had an open terrace where you could eat your breakfast while taking in the sites of Sorrento. The 6th floor had a pool that was outdoors, overlooking Sorrento. The only problem we encountered with this hotel was that it is about 45-55 minutes (walking distance) from the train station and the climb to this hotel is a very steep mountain. The same distance is to the center of Sorrento as well. This hotel offers free bus shuttles but they only run at specific times of the day. If you are willing to walk a little bit more, this hotel is EXCEPTIONAL!!!

For a hotel of this standard/price, we were surprised by the lack of storage (for a 10 day holiday). We had to request more coathangers and did not have anywhere near enough drawer space. The bedroom and bathroom were both smaller than expected but they were kept spotlessly clean; the towels were changed every day and the bedding every 3 days. Although this may be peculiarly British, we were disappointed not to have tea/coffee making facilties in the bedroom. On the plus side the hotel was in an excellent location with easy access to buses, trains and boats and the 20 minute walk into town kept us fit without being too arduous. The views from the dining terrace were stunning. The food was very good and the chef coped admirably with special dietary requirements. This is a lovely small family run hotel that we do not hesitate to recommend and we would stay there again.

Excellent location, nice room with a veranda, a superb view of the Bay of Naples, and very helpful staff. I found cabbies in all the cities I have been to in Italy try to overcharge, notwithstanding the meter (by its manipulation). Sorrento was no exception. The fact that one will have to take a taxi to get this hotel if you arrive by train, as we did, is a drawback (but not pertaining to the hotel itself other than its location). We paid 90.00 Euros a night for Friday and Saturday in late October of 2007. It was the best deal we had on our trip this time.

I loved this hotel from the very moment we arrived. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly and the hotel is fantastic for the price you pay. We had a room with an amazing view, and contrary to other reviews, we didn't have to pay extra for this. The hotel is located about 20mins walk away from Sorrento, but as a young couple we found the walk easy and never used their free shuttle bus. Breakfast was good by Italian standards and my only negative is the quality of the one evening meal we ate at the restaurant, (although the service was impeccable). You can find better (and worse) food in the centre. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

The rooms and the overall facilities were over our expectations. The location of the hotel is not in the center of the town, but it has an excellent view and is very close to the town.

Lovely hotel with quite magnificent view. Hotel restaurant adequate but limited for evening meals. Staff are very helpful. Breakfast good. Pool is excellent - with a great view. A/C is good. Access is a problem. The road up to the hotel is steep and narrow - that's why there is such a good view. (watch out for the mopeds on the corners!). We came by the Circumvesuviana train from Naples and 'phoned ahead and they sent a car for us, very useful if you have heavy bags. Otherwise there is a bus 4 times a day 9,12,3,6 ish to and from the station in Sorrento. If you are coming back from Naples or Pompeii on the train and it is after 6pm, get off the train at S. Agnello (2nd last stop) and walk to the hotel it is much shorter than going into Sorrento. Taxis are expensive and seem to charge what they like - especially in the evening. Finally, if you want to treat you and yours to a fabulous meal (at a fabulous price) get to Don Alfonso's in S. Agata (about half an hour away) - expensive, but probably the best meal I've had anywhere.

Friendly welcome, smiling and competent staff. The view from our room was wonderful (Vesuvio, bay of Naples, Sant'Agnello just below) and the rooms themselves were clean and inviting, if not very spacious. The roof-top swimming pool (again, not huge but enough to cool down and swim a few lanes) is a nice asset as finding a beach to relax on is close to impossible in Sorrento. The location of the hotel is good (20 minutes on foot from Sorrento, 5 minutes from Sant'Agnello, parking spaces are available on the premises). All in all, highly recommended.

This was our favourite hotel that we stayed in through the whole of Italy - and we stayed at several 4 star properties. It had magnificent views over Sant'Agnello & Mount Vesuvius from the rooftop pool, the reception & the bedrooms. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the hotel was a great price for a 4 star. If you miss the shuttle bus to town it does mean a hike down (then back up!) a decent hill but it wasn't very far & the views were worth it. Having breakfast on the balcony is the most amazing way to start the day - on a clear day you can't tell where the sky ends & the ocean begins! Would definitely stay there again & recommend it to anyone.

Hotel is clean and very comfortable. Rooftop pool is very nice. Great views to the sea from balcony. Long walk up the hill from the train stations. Good value for Sorrento area. About 20 minutes walk to the main square of Sorrento. Infrequent shuttle bus to town. Good value but next time would pay a little more to be closer to the town.

We were completely satisfied with the hotel and its excellent service, and the view was wonderful. The only thing that might be a problem for some guests is the location - it is up a hill on a private road not serviced by public transportation, although there is a public bus on the main public road. The hotel has a shuttle bus to and from Sorrento but it does not go very often and not at all in the evening. We had dinner at the hotel one evening and thought the meal was very good and not unreasonably priced.

Gracious, helpful staff, excellent service. The hotel was located on a beautiful hill overlooking the sea and Mt. Vesuvious. Rooms and terraces had spectacular views. The rooms were quite spacious, clean, and pleasant.

Good hotel - we arrived late and they were welcoming. Very helpful staff. Dinner in the restaurant was nto very exciting nor especially nice - suggest find restaurant in town. Went with 89 year old mother who was well looked after. Map on website not very helpful. Italian signposting very poor i thought and we were lucky to find the hotel - it does however sit up on the hill and the lit up sign is well visible from the road.

My brother and I took my elderly parents to the hotel Christina this summer. The views from the rooms were all lovely, across the bay and overlooking Vesuvius. The food was excellent and the staff in all areas couldn't have been more helpful or nicer. The balcony of the restaurant on the top floor was a wonderful place to both start and end the day and I would happily recommend it to anyone.

Highly recommended for quality, service, facilities and location. Do take advantage of the free shuttle-bus betwwen the hotel and Sorrento to avoid walking up a steep hill.
