What a wonderful little gem! Going here is truly like visiting family. They also share secrets of their favorite restaurants. We enjoy walking so Paulo told us how to walk to Sorrento and avoid the busy streets. This family is your local guidebook: the best way to get to Capri, what is the best day to drive the Amalfi coast and what is the best day to go to Pompeii. Perfect location near the train. We hated leaving and how we miss the fresh squeezed orange juice and the fragrance of the lemons. We would definitely come back here!

Hotel Angelina is exactly the kind of place we were looking for when we booked. The hotel is family operated, and our main contact throughout the stay was Paolo. From the time we checked in, he was a very gracious host who represented not only the hotel very well, but also the region. Paolo provided an excellent orientation to our location, how to navigate getting to the train station and local bus stop (both 5-7 minutes walking), a walking route into Sorrento (about 25 minutes), which bus to take to the port (to go to Capri) or into Sorrento, and also recommendations of local restaurants. Restaurant recommendations were excellent. Every request or inquirey was met with a smile, and immediately handled. The breakfast buffet each morning was more than satisfying. The rooms are as shown on the Venere site; compact but clean and very adequate. Travelling with friends, we arrived via auto. Parking is somewhat limited and only the smallest of cars can navigate their garage. This is a quiet location and the other guests we met on the patio in the evening were equally impressed. This is a great location for those who don't require being in a busy night-life area, which is what we preferred. I would consider it safe as well for the single traveller. In all, we totally ejoyed our stay at Hotel Angelina, we would recommend it to others, and we would definately stay there again.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Angelina very much. Paulo made us feel very welcome and provided us with lots of information on local restaurants, beaches and many places of interest. I have no hesitation in recommending this ideally situated hotel (almost surrounded by orange groves) for those wishing to sample the Sorrento area, the Amalfi coastline and the nearby island of Capri. The nearby Marinello is ideal for swimming (take the lift both ways - 60c) and the local train and buses provide a reliable and efficient service.

We missed the train stop even though it was noted on the hotel notes. So we had to take a cap to the hotel. Which was good or we wouldn't have found it. There are clearly marked signs and such. The bus service was an ideal way to get around the town and it was just up the street from our hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. The gentleman's father gave us a ride down to the hydrofoil which we know would have been a costly cab ride. That topped off our stay in the beautiful Sorrento. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was quite nice. We hope to come stay with them again sometime.

I had some difficulties to find the hotel due to lack of Sant'Agnello sign on the road going to Sorrento. Sant'Agnello's location should appear clearly when you enter the village. I spent 3 days in hotel Angelina and recommend it warmly.

This charming hotel does it right. 5 minutes from downtown, but in a quiet residential area - this little gem is truly a destination in itself. In a world where driving isn't worth the hassle, you can take the train (from Naples) almost to the front door (you need to walk 5 minutes - downhill over pavement - very convenient!). The owner and family take great pride in their property - it is almost like staying in their home. They are warm and helpful (they even got my cellphone working, after wrestling with the local provider) and make you feel like you have come home. The outside patio and breakfast area is surrounded and orange and lemon orchard, so it you time it right - the perfumed air is delightful. In addition to the train, there are easily to find local buses (very clean, very efficient) to take you to the local port when you want to boat to Capri or Naples. You can get bus tickets at the hotel. There is parking! - we drove to them (next time we will train from the airport) and parked the beast and left it for the duration. This may not seem like a lot - but parking is at a premium pretty much throughout Italy. This alone is worth the stay. Local restaurants range from "touristic" -e.g. the menu is in English, to "local" -e.g. they will be glad to translate. You can dine anytime (from the silly 5:00pm if you are from the midwest - to the more civilized 10:00pm if you are doing like the "Romans".

I almost want to keep this hotel a secret, so that I don't spoil my next visit there. My wife & I spent 6 wonderful days here. Sant' Agnello is far preferable (to our tastes)to staying directly in nearby Sorrento. Sant' Agnello is quiet, friendly, slower-paced, well connected by bus/train and with citizens with a seemingly genuine regard for tourists. The D'Esposito family were very friendly, incredibly helpful and ran a first-class operation. If you want swimming pools, fancy dining rooms, room service and the hustle/bustle of a big city hotel, then you don't want to stay here. But if you want a hotel hidden in a twisting stone lane with adequately-sized, simple, clean, well maintained rooms, set in a citrus grove and run by a family who care about their guests, then this is your hotel. Just remember to slow down, relax, enjoy a bottle of wine on the terrace (or the balcony of your room), listen to the birds, and hear the stories of the people you meet... On the more factual side: a lack of an elevator may cause problems for some individuals (3 floors), the walk from the train station is short (5-10 minutes), the walk into central Sorrento is a bit on the long side at the end of a full day on your feet (20-30 minutes) but trains come every 10-15 minutes most of the day, breakfast is simple but fine, attractive price.

Professionalism already displayed before my arrival in their welcoming email upon my online booking, further exemplified at their warm reception and excellent breakfast service. My room was clean, spacious and quiet with hairdryer. Hotel Angelina, though in modest outer appearance, is the best hotel of my 17-day stay in Italy.

My wife and I had a most enjoyable stay at Hotel Angelina during October 07. Our room was quiet, very clean and it had a nice view of the hills and orchards. There were enough food choices for breakfast(included in the price), including fresh buns, pastries, fruit juice and fruit. A waiter prepared the most wonderful fresh coffee each morning. We also found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this value-for- money hotel situated close to transport and all the famous tourist spots.

This hotel is in a working-class suburb of Sorrento (Sant Agnello) of old twisting streets, tiny local restaurants, minute groceries (with real-people prices for FANTASTIC Cheese and salami) and very good service and staff. The man at the coffee machine at breakfast soon learned to provide endless pots of good Italian coffee to our table and the breakfasts of freshly baked Italian rolls and butter sure met our idea of heaven! We recommend the Taverna Rossa (down the street a couple of blocks). Good simple food with wine and an espresso chaser make for a perfect meal...! After exploring Sorrento we decided we were VERY glad we were not in the heart of the city after all, Hotel Angilina was a short walk from the train station which made everything very accessible.

The location of the B&B although a little out of the centre of Sorrento was easy to find and convenient to the train station. We were happy not to be in the very busy city centre. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was substantial for a continental breakfast with the added bonus of fresh fruit. There was a good and reasonably priced restaurant near by

My husband and I were on vacation. We were impressed by the reviews of this wonderful establishment, so we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed. Paolo and his dad could not have been more accommodating. The breakfast was by far the best we had in Italy. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Had lovely dinner at Taverna Rossa small restaurant close to the Hotel. Meals were very tasty and good value for money. Hotel was probably slightly further from the train station that I anticiapted but still walking distance. It was raining when we arrived which didn't help. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

We were made welcome in this family-run hotel with a basket of fruit and large bottle of mineral water on arrival. The room was sunny overlooking an orange grove. Good continental breakfast was efficiently and pleasantly served in light airy dining room Proprietor was most helpful with local knowledge.

The favorable comments of all the other reviewers are well-deserved. This is a hotel that is run with pride and caring, and it shows. The family that runs the hotel is great, they speak excellent English, and they are very helpful. We had rain on the day of our departure, and one of the owners drove us to the train station. The breakfasts are great, and there is a beautiful patio to eat and relax on. The walk into Sorrento is not long, but it is along busy streets, sometimes without sidewalks, and it can get a bit nerve-wracking. Although the bus stop is close to the hotel, buses are ofen SRO, but it's a short ride to Sorrento. This was the best place we stayed on our Italy trip.

Angelina is the best twostar hotel in the region,we thank Paolo for his competents and his kindness and his perfect recommendation for dinner, because the Taverna Rosso, just 100m from the hotel was perfect. To the public beach it is just 5 minutes and to the sorrento center only 25 minutes walk.We had a rent car and the garage in the hotel was perfect, and the breakfast-buffet was much more than two star with sausages, all kind of fruits and a perfect Cappuccino! Thank You for a perfect stay in Your nice hotel ANGELINA !

Excellent hotel in a lovely town away from the tourist bussle of Sorrento, but only minutes away by train. Paulo was especially welcoming and very helpful. We stayed at this hotel for 11 nights sept. '07. Good staff, fresh water and fruits in the room on arrival. Breakfast OK. Close to trainstation (Circumvesuviana), easy to go to Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius. Easy bus connections to Sorrento. Taverna Rossa excellent price/quality (diner for 2 for under €25). Moonlight also good food. We don't recommend Peppino, where they served us food initially served (and partially eaten) to other customers. Overall great stay at Angelina. They also offer great transfer opportunities to the airport.

Overall, very satisfied with our stay at the hotel. Though the room was clean, there was an odd odor that came from the bathroom (probably poor plumbing). Really can't beat it for the price considering other properties in Sorrento and St. Agnello. The breakfast was a great way to start the day. My only complaint about the food is that they have the worst coffee you can find in the Neopolitan area, but it's free :-).

Right from the start Paolo greeted us and dealt pleasantly with all our immediate needs including parking. At all times we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfast was above average, for example, you didn't have to ask for more coffee it was automatically given. Sorrento is walkable but bus and train are nearby if you don't want to bother. The best hotel on our holiday - thoroughly recommended.

This is a very nice family run hotel, rooms were quite basic but comfortable, the bathroom was a little cramped though. It is set in a quite side road well away from the busy main road. There are some excellent restaurants and bars to visit. There is a nice take away just in the square that does excellent food, a couple of times we got meals from there and took them back to the hotel where we sat out on the patio and ordered wine to drink with our meal. Angelina is great I could not fault it at all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Very welcoming and friendly, helpful with the surrounding facilities. The breakfast was rather limited for the price with no variation during the whole week we were there. It would have been very pleasant to eat breakfast outside but this was not permissable. Excellent recommendation to Taverna Rosso but not so keen on the Peppino restaurant. Brilliant location for Sant'Agnello which was busier than we expected but the Angelina is in a the quietest part we found.

First time in this area, ideal if you wish to explore surrounding areas, close to train and bus routes. Sorrento is within walking distance. If you don't wish to be in a full on tourist location, this is an ideal hotel. There isn't a evening meal option, however there are a number of resturants within Sant' Agnello that are reasonably priced and much cheaper than Sorrento, the closest to the hotel (approx 200metres) being the cheapest with arguably the best house wine I had all trip (Euro 4 a litre) great if on a budget. I wouldn't recommend a hire car, unless absolutely necessary as local transport is cheap and frequent, and driving looked to be something that could leave you suffering from a nervous breakdown.

Great little place to stay when in the Sorrento area. Esay walk to Piazza Tasso. Really good breakfast. We were greeted with a nice cold bottle of Water and a bowl of fresh fruits upon our long commute from Naples...thanks Paulo. Location is in a residential area of San Agnello. Great little restaurant just up the Street, ate there quite a bit for dinner. Would definately stay there again.

We stayed at the Angelina for three nights in two single rooms which were very comfortable. Both the bathroom and bedroom were of good size, with fresh oranges and water supplied. Location was quiet although one room was noisy as it was by the stairs to the second floor. Staff were very pleasant, welcoming and very helpful in recommending places to see, and where to eat. We would definately stay here again as it was very close to Sorrento and Sant Agnello is a very nice area too.

It was like staying with friends. I was with my Fiance and Paulo and his family made us feel so welcome. We had fresh oranges and water for us upon arrival. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood with a Lemon and Orange orchard right outside the windows. Paulo and his family have grown up in the area, so they know great places to eat and see that you will not find in the guide book. Listen to them on this. There is a great little restaurant about 100 meters from the hotel that is owned by a Man and Woman and the Man's brother. They all work the restaurant and will give you tastings of Lemoncello among other liquers. The hotel is a short, nice 15 minute walk to Sorrento. The great thing is not having to deal with crowds and traffic. We will definitely stay here again if we are ever back in the Sorrento area.

The Hotel Angelina couldn't have been a more perfect place to stay while in the Sorrento area. It is located around 20-25 minutes away (by foot) from the town of Sorrento, but to me, this was a positive feature, not a negative (Sorrento is VERY busy). Paolo and his staff/family went out of their way to make us feel at home; excellent restaurant recommendations, fresh oranges in our room daily, refused to let us tip or pay for an ad-hoc espresso request. In general, the most welcoming experience I've ever had at a hotel.

After a noisy 2 days in Naples, the Hotel Angelina was a great relief, no noisy streets around the hotel. The hotel is a simple family hotel with the warmth and welcome of this type of hotel, surrounded on both sides by two orange and lemon tree orchards. The hotel owners and staff were always ready to help us with any queries. The rooms are clean, cool and just maybe a little too small for people staying in their rooms, but if you are visiting all day as we did this was really not a problem. There is a little noise in the morning or evening when people are arriving or leaving with room doors opening and closing due to the ceramic floor, but this was really not a problem. The breakfast was very good with again a very kind service. The restaurants recommended were also very good. The hotel is ideally situated close to Sorrente without the hassle of this noisier town. Sorrente can easily be reached in 5 mns by bus or 15 mns walk. There is a beach close to the hotel, 5 mns easy walk down the the cliff by stairs. The beach is small and is probably a little crowded in summer but as with all beaches along that coast. From this hotel we went to Pompei, Capri and visited the Amalfi Coast very easily, so this is a good central place to stay after visiting Naples. There is a very convenient parking in the hotel itself which is very valuable in this area. Without a car it might be a little too outside the Sorrente town although there are many bus and only one train station away from Sorrente. The town is not as charming as Positano, Almalfi or Ravello so this gives its the peacefulness of not having crowds of tourists and souvenir shops all around. I will go back to this hotel and would recommend it to almost everyone with or without kids as long as you are not looking for large and sophisticated rooms.

From the moment we walked through the door the staff were welcoming and helpful. Each party at the hotel was provided with guidebooks and given advice about public transport, restaurants (from the range they gave us it was clear they were not on a commission)etc. The hotel was family run with the two sons (early 20's) manning the desk. Although they appreciated us trying to speak Italian they were quite fluent in English. The breakfast was buffet style and the waiter very attentive keeping us well supplied with coffee, tea and chocolate. On our final day they offered to transport ourselves and baggage to the main square to catch the airport bus. They would not accept a tip. They did this for other guests. I have stayed in other hotels in the area and this was up with the best. Although furnishing and tiled floors initially appear spartan it is perfectly suited to the environment. Although out of Sorrento itself the railway station and bus stops are only 10 mins away; a pleasant back street walk takes 30 minutes. I would definitely come back again.

The Angelina was excellent value for the price. We can only echo the good comments of other reviewers. The room was comfortable, our bathroom was a good size and included a large shower. The hotel staff were helpful and caring. Breakfast was great - loved the freshly baked croissants with marmalade filling, and freshly made coffee (of any variety). We drove to Sant'Agnello, but left the car parked at the hotel for most of the time - taking the train to Pompei was so easy, and going into Sorrento (and the Capri ferry dock) was a 10 minute bus ride or a 20 minute walk. We enjoyed dinners at three different restaurants within a few minutes walking distance of the hotel. We had a great stay.
