Our first trip to Italy brought us to Hotel La Ripetta for two nights. The room was modest, but clean & comfortable. The walls, however, are very thin & we didn't need to hear our neighbors' late night antics. The view from our patio was beautiful. The restaurant is outstanding; their house white wine the best at an outstanding price. The directions from the train could have been better. Getting off the train in Piano di Sorrento, the directions just told us to get off there. I suppose they figured we'd grab a taxi, but the hotel isn't very far from the train station & it would have been nice to know we could have walked if we wanted.

Our room had a lovely view of the Bay of Naples and was clean and pleasant. Food at the restaurant upstairs is excellent. The hotel was noisy both at night and in the early morning with school groups and parties at the restaurant. There is a big market in town on Monday which we enjoyed and the beach is also nice.

Hotel was excellent. Friendly and competent hotel staff. Hotel is about 1 km from the Circumvesuviana stop, but the walk is easy. *If this is the first visit to Sorrento, print your own map of the city. The hotel didn't have maps and the tourist office is difficult to find.

We totally enjoyed our stay. The staff was very efficient and friendly. The gentleman at the front desk,Carmine, was especially helpful when we checked into the hotel. We will definitely come back and recommend La Ripetta to all of our friends.

Our room had a beautiful view over the harbour, the rooms were clean, plenty of hot water and the staff pleasent and willing. The hotel is convenient for excursions to Sorrento and, therefore, Capri, and to Napoli, both by car and by pubic transport thanks to the 'trenino' just 10 mins walk from the hotel.

The room was very nice and spacious. We had a 'sea view' room which was great! There was no safe or bar fridge though. The staff were excellent. Piano di Sorrento was a nice little town to stay in as opposed to the hussle and bussle of Sorrento itself (which was only 2 train stops away). The hotel restaurant was excellent. I would recommend La Ripetta and would not hesitate to stay there again. Nicest and cleanest hotel we stayed in during our entire Italy vacation.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel LaRipetta. We upgraded to a room with a view and it was spacious with a large bathroom. Breakfast was very good each morning. The breakfast staff, restaurant staff and front desk staff were all very nice and helpful. This hotel is not actually in Sorrento;however, the train station is a short 10 minute walk and Sorrento is two stops away. We also went to Pompeii by train-- a very easy trip. They provided free parking for our car. There were many students at the hotel but the management was very diligent in keeping them well behaved and quiet. We would definitely return to this part of Italy and stay at this hotel again.

Nice hotel. Great staff. Got an ocean view room at no extra charge and our choice of rooms. Our only complaint was there were groups of kids staying there while they travel for school. They were extremely noisy one night. After 1/2 hour we asked the staff to do something about it, and they immediately took care of the problem. There was a little more noise after that, but not much. The next night was pretty quiet, so we are sure the staff spoke to the group again. The manager was very nice when we asked to change hotels and he said there would be no penalty and we were welcome to check first to see if we could find something. He also mentioned that the school kids stay at all 3 star hotels so it would be the same elsewhere (he said they travel during March and April). We decided to stay as there were not many other hotels available online. And he offered us another room hoping it would be quieter. There were no problems the other 2 nights. could hear the tv through the walls in the morning, one time. If you are a light sleeper, sound carries very well down the halls, etc. so I recommend ear plugs, just in case.

This hotel is great, a lovely view and a really nice, spacious room. However, make note that it is not actually in the town of Sorrento, rather, it is a few kilometres away in the smaller town of Piano di Sorrento.

A hotel with beautiful location and friendly staff. Since at the time of our stay the hotel restaurant was undergoing redecorations breakfast was served to our room (nice but somewhat fussy). The staff was also able to recommend an excellent restaurant to have dinner despite low season. In summertime the seaview from the room can be really breathtaking.

Hotel was quiet when we stayed therefore we got a choice of rooms. Restuarant was closed although they were able to recommend somewhere to go which was really nice and only about 10mins walk away. The restuarant was obviously family run and were very attentive to our children. Breakfast very basic. Look up other maps prior to travel for hotel directions

We were travelling around Europe for several weeks but found the concierge at La Ripetta the most helpful and courteous of all the hotels where we stayed and this included some 4 star hotels. He always made that little extra effort to assist and advise where to go etc. The others in reception were also ready to assist in any way. The rooms were very clean & spacious and the train station for travel to Naples or Sorrento & the Amalfi coast connnection was just a short walk away. The dinner menu was more that adequate and well priced. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation and thanks again to the reception staff.

A little gem of a hotel, situated away from the busy and commercial Sorrento. Our room was well appointed with exteranl balcony. Access to and from the railway station (which had a reasonably regular service to Naples or Sorrento) required a ten minute walk. We found this walk not to be too onerous and enjoyed the exercise. The staff were very competent and helpful. The view over the Mediteranean Sea each morning at breakfast was superb. The family run restaurant in the hotel was very good value also.

This was a really sweet little hotel with pleasant, helpful staff. I'm glad we couldn't find space at Sorrento as it was so relaxing in this town after being in Rome - a total contrast. We had a sea view room with a little terrace and it was great to sit out in the evening with a glass of red wine or two. The hotel is about 15 mins walk to the train station (beware when you arrive - there are no street name signs so you really need to know which direction you're heading in - the best way we found was to turn right out of the station, then turn right at the t-junction and go under the bridge, keep on walking down the hill until you get near the coast - you should see La Ripetta ahead and to your left over the road). The shopping area is the opposite way - up the hill - and so takes about 20 mins to walk to. We walked to Sorrento one evening which took about 45 mins. The only small complaint I would have is the noise through the walls. I think the hotel must be used a lot by coach tours as the turnover of guests is quite high (we had new neighbours on each of the four nights we stayed) and they all seemed to be up early in the morning - take some earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

It is a bit out of the way - 4 min by train from Sorrento plus 10 min walk from the station.
But the view from the room balcony is spectacular; the restaurant is great, reasonably priced and not touristy (the entire area is not); the staff is very helpful

At first we thought we were at the end of the world as the hotel is two stops out of sorrento and a good walk down a not pretty street but the welcome we got made up for the trek. The hotel is right on the cliff edge and our room had a great sea-view .Tere may be better positiond hotels but it was value for money .We stayed an extra night and had dinner in the resteraunt which was fine

The room was excellent, a room on the sea side, over the sea exactly. New rooms with a realy nice bathroom, but the problem is that they do not give you the room before 14. Which is a shame. They are very slow in cleaning rooms.

We had a most enjoyable stay. The staff spoke excellent English, and were always willing to assist. A small problem with ants did not have an real bearing on our stay. The rooms were very large, well appointed and clean. The view was to die for. Although breakfast was sparse, the restaurant offered excellent food and service. Mario is a delight.

First off the staff was great, so was the view. However I would not give it 3 stars, 2 would be more appropriate. Wiping the floor and remodeling the bathroom would do it. Notice that the hotel is not in Sorrento but in Piano di Sorrento, 45 min walk. Try a pizza downstairs and watch the sun set. We had a great time.

This was a new hotel, rather than the older one we had expectd, but it was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful and gave us tips about trains and places to see.We paid extra for sea view rooms and thought it worth it - the hotel has a fantastic view over the Bay of Sorrento. It is an easy train ride to central Sorrento. The hotel restaurant is excellent and we enjoyed beautiful food and sunsets on the open air deck.

The hotel was absolutely amazing and we would definitely return to stay again and have already begun to recommend it to our friends. The hotel is in a good location and is not a far walk from the local station, with trains running regularly to Sorrento. The hotel staff were friendly and more than helpful. The only complaint that we had about the hotel was that the walls are really quite thin and you can hear pretty much any conversations taking place in the rooms next door. When staying at the hotel we would also recommend that you make use of the restaurant as the food was amazing and very well priced.

La Ripetta over all was fantastic. The service of the staff was excellent, friendly and very helpful. If you request a sea view room in advance and they are not busy, they will definitely help you out.
The food in the restaurant was very tasty and lovely at a reasonable price. Make sure to eat there.
The walls of the new rooms however are very thin and you can almost hear the conversation of your neighbour next door. Nevertheless, La Ripetta is highly recommendable to anyone.

La Ripetta was a great find! It is outside downtown Sorrento in Piani di Sorrento which was great since we had a car and parking was included. It is difficult to park in Sorrento. The property is new and the view was spectacular. The breakfast was not great-particularly the coffee. But all else about this lovely place was terrific--great value for the price!

Overall, we would love to come back to this hotel. Quite honestly, we have some concerns when reserving this hotel, but it is the only one where the price is reasonable. The property photos available are not too good. On arrival, we know our concerns are not justified at all. The hotel looks much better than the photos. Also, although we reserved the cheaper room, because we arrived late and they have some available, they gave us the room with sea-view. The views are definitely gorgeous.
About the room, it is nice and clean, quite, decent size, and comfortable. The funny thing is that because of the hotel layout (I think they are on a cliff), finding the room can be somewhat of a challenge.

Personale gentilissimo e disponibilissimo.

La Ripetta was a real gem. The rooms were very clean, the deskstaff spoke English and were very helpful. The view from our balcony was wonderful. The breakfast was typical but the man in charge of the breakfast area was dedicated and anxious to do all he could to help us enjoy our stay. The dining room staff didn't speak English as well as the front desk but we were able to converse and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The train station is about a half mile from the hotel & it's a downhill walk (turn right out of the train station, go to the 'T' intersection then go right for 3/8 mile. La Ripetta is fairly convenient to Sorrento (2 stops on the train), Pompei, the Isle of Capri and the Amalfi Coast. Our only complaint was the walls were thin and you could hear conversations/tv from the adjoining room. I would highly recommend La Ripetta and will go back on our next visit.
