The staff at this hotel were excellent. The breakfast and evening meal for the price paid was poor.
The views were magnificent and the pool and bar was lovely.
A bus ran from the hotel to town but the evening drop off was not suitable if you wanted to go out for a meal- an improvement in the times of the bus would make this hotel a much better location as walking was not an option.

We stayed at the Hotel President for the first night of our holiday - We arrived by car and did have a problem finding the hotel. We arrived early but that was no problem for the hotel. The room had a balcony and an absolutely stunning view of Sorrento - we ate lunch by the pool which was delicious. We drove down to Sorrento that night which was fun and then sat came back to the hotel and had a drink on the terrace with a fantastic view over the town all lit up in the dark. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We enjoyed our stay at the President Hotel in Sorrento. The view from our patio was spectacular with the city lights, the Bay of Naples and the volcano. We recommended the hotel to our friends who were planning to visit Sorrento in the fall. The staff was quite accomodating to our requests and we thought the location of our room was perfect and very quiet and away from the bustle of the main rooms. We would probably return to this hotel and request the same room. The only draw back was that one could not safely walk to the city as the roads are quite treacherous; however, the hotel does provide a fairly convenient shuttle service to and from Sorrento proper and the driver is quite helpful with directions from his drop off points.

The hotel lived up to the description. Views are fantastic, the staff were extremely helpful and we had a very relaxing holiday.
Would recommend the hotel to people who wnat to stay in Sorrento but also want to be away from the hustle and bustle of the town.

We came on our honeymoon and the hotel was more than gracious with everything. The view is breathtaking from the sea view rooms...the shuttle service is very well functioning...my only criticism is that the HOT TUB (we arrived October 1st) doesn't seem to function after the high season. They do not keep it warm...it would have been great to sit in it on a chilly night...but besides that, the hotel is great.

Fantastic view, that can become expensive when experienced every day. The view is the main attractiveness, but it is all in all a good 4 star hotel.
Cientele is mainly english and not very chique.
ps. dont let the desk clerk talk you into going to Restaurant Don Pedro. It is overpriced.

superb location with magnificent view; up and down hill or a 20 minutes' walk (if you do not want to take the shuttle bus) to the centre of sorrento using the shortcut; watch out for the vespa's though and poor illumination at night; hotel staff is friendly; breakfast is ok

A beautiful hotel with incredible views, balconies, spacious well-appointed rooms, but annoying inconveniences for the long term occupant. We stayed eight days. The usual amenities found in most hotels are missing (tissues, washcloths, a clock to name a few), no room service, a 'fine' of 10 Euros daily if you use their in-room refrigerator for personal items and conversations in normal tones were audible and understandable from the next rooms and hallway. The hotel seemed more oriented for the bus tour trade and there were many of those. Staff was helpful, especially the shuttle bus driver, as walking to town was not an option. Breakfast was the most boring of the 4 hotels we stayed at and dinner was fixed price of 30 Euros each but after a few days we questioned it and were told we could order ala carte. A la Carte is a good description of this hotel. Everything had to be asked about or payed extra for. We would recommend it for short stays only for the incredible location and views, but bring your own snacks, wine and clock and DON'T use the refrigerater to cool your wine.

our room was just below the restaurant; room 322 (near the elevator); there was a lot of noise late in the evening (10 pm) and early in the morning ( round 6 am)
I suppose that this was due to the cleaning up operations before en after meals ?

We spent a fabulous week staying at the President. It has fantastic views, and if you're up for a hike, the walk to and from Sorrento is pleasant. I would advise travelling to Sorrento for evening meals. At 35 Euros per head, the standard did not match the price. We would definitely stay at the President again, simply for the views (worth paying extra for a sea-view) and the fantastic room we had.

Wir möchten uns nochmals bei den Herren an der Rezeption bedanken, die uns sehr bei der Suche nach einem Hotel auf Capri geholfen hatten, als unsere eigene Buchung missglückt war. Ihr einsatz war bemwerkenswert. Danke!

Very beautifull place, & gentle employees. It is a unique location, but I would reccommend to go by car due to the distance to the centre and to be able to visit other areas as amalfi, positano, etc.
I recommend this hotel, you won't be dissapointed

My wife and I stayed at the President from the 27/6/04 - 09/7/04. We got the train from Naples Airport, cost 6 euros. Taxis were 100 euros.
The President, our welcome was poor to say the least. Not what we were expecting on the start to our honeymoon. They werent rude, just unexcited to see us.
Things got better when we got to our room, it as very nice and the view is spectacular. Do not stay here unless you have a sea view room.
The sound between rooms was a joke. You can hear people having mild conversations clearly in the next rooms and the people upstairs when they walk around, not to mention every door that opens and closes. This became very annoying at 2 or 3 in the morning.
The walk to town is very steep. Im 26 and very fit my wife is not, she would not do the walk after our first trip. The bus from the hotel into town is also a joke, it is arranged around their meal times. There are 4 to 5 hour breaks between buses midday and in the evening. Its either walk or get a taxi. The Hotel does have an arrangement with Hertz and you can get a lift for 10 euros as opposed to a taxi which is more lke 25 euros.
The pool is small and when busy, you dont get much room to yourself. The gym room is not at all a gym room. 2 machines, no weights and no room or airconditioning.
We had a massage there and we have had many better. The staff were very impersonal, almost arrogant but I would just say it seemed they were uninterested.
All I can say is I didnt have too bad a time there despite all the negatives. I would not stay again. I personally think the best thing you could do if visiting sorrento, would be to find a hotel as close to the centre of town as possible, as everything happens there and if you want a view, well get a bus or go for a walk because where ever you go you can find amazing scenery. The choice is yours ....

A treat from start to finish; from the room with the spectacular sea view, to the service and food, these are accommodation providers who take a justifiable pride in their hotel. The location is fabulous, the walk to the town down the cobbled path is a bonus. a week is not long enough

Great view!! the best in sorento. Since the foors are tiled you can hear people walking above so request a top room but not over the pool. The hotel graciously moved us when we told them that the room was noisy. everyone was very nice and accomodating. the pool was wonderful and tony the shuttle driver takes you most places. I highly recommend this hotel

Gorgeous hotel and pool and unbelievable view! Loved almost everything about the Hotel President. Our only real complaint was that there were lots of time restrictions--pool closes at 6:30 p.m. and dinner served only from 7:00 - 9:00. Also, some of the staff could have been friendlier. Would definitely go back for the value could not be beat--we loved Sorrento!

Outstanding hotel with unbelievable view from sea side rooms. The staff (especially Salvatore) were the best you could expect anywhere. Very large rooms that are clean and well appointed. I'd stay here over any hotel in Sorrento.

We found the hotel excellent. With a great view over the Golf of Naples. Central for visits of Capri, Amalfi, Positano and Pompeij. The employees were very friendly and helpful.
Terasses and swimmingpool in very good shape.

Hotel President is in a wonderful setting with stunning views of Sorrento and the bay of Naples. The only slight drawback is the distance from Sorrento which takes 15 minutes on the courtesy bus.

The Hotel President is an excellent hotel with stunning views over the Bay of Naples. The distance from the centre of Sorrento is a minor problem and the walk back up the steep hill is difficult especially for the elderly. The courtesy bus runs too infrequently during the afternoons and early evening. The hotel reception staff and also the waiters were so friendly and helpful during our stay
