This was a bit hard to find at first, but the location was great. It is virtually in a little fishing village at bottom of the cliff at Sorrento, surrounded by some lovely eating places and only a few minutes bus ride from the centre of Sorrento.

The room is very simple and it is not worth of 100€ per night! There is even a BIG HOLE on the towel they provide......and the wall painting fell into the bath when I was taking a shower......I booked 4 nights but changed to the other hotel on the next day......

this was our first time to stay here, and while the hotel was in a beautiful location, we were not impressed with the staff. In September the pool is in total shade. The staff were gruff and unwelcoming. Sort of "it would be a great job if it wasnt for the customers " type feel.

Stayed here for 2 nights in September 2007 prior to moving to an apartment in Sorrento and did not have high hopes prior to arrival. As we were only staying such a short time we'd elected for the cheapest room. We were not disappointed and surprised to have a sea view and french balcony - we expected to be facing the cliff. The staff were very attentive, the hotel was clean (if not a bit tired in places) and the location was excellent. Sitting on the terrace over the sea is wonderful. The biggest drawback we found was the breakfasts - they were the worst we had anywhere in Italy. Tea, coffee and orange were undrinkable and the food was passable, not much more. But for the price and location we thought this place was a bargain and we were sorry to leave.

EBBENE Si! UN CAFFE’ non compreso nella prima colazione.
Più professionalità non avrebbe certo guastato!

We stayed in Sorrento 5 days. Upon arriving at the train station, a taxi was about 18 Euros to get to the hotel--we had originally thought about walking but it is not possible to walk to the hotel w/ luggage! Reception speaks some English--enough to get by. The elevator worked about 85% of the time. Our room had peeling stucco and looked a little outdated. The 'double bed' was literally 2 small beds pushed together, and this means you can't sleep in the center because you'll push the beds apart & get stuck in the middle. As this was our honeymoon, we unfortunately ended up sleeping on separate sides of the bed. The balcony was small (only enough room for 2 chairs) but had an amazing view. The hotel provided a complimentary bottle of champagne chilled & waiting in the room when we checked in. Breakfast is served inside the hotel and due to the direction of the sunrise all of the drapes were kept shut, so there's not a breakfast over a spectacular view of the sea--it's just breakfast in the dining room. The pool is saltwater, and the pool deck is nice because it extends out over the water. The area of town where the hotel is located has a very local feel. There is no vehicle traffic, so the only noise in the evening and at night are of the sea and local children playing soccer in the street. There are a handful of restaurants, a small grocery store, and a small beach. Going to town for shopping, etc is about a 25-30 minute walk (one way) mostly uphill and/or climbing stairs. If you're in shape, it's not difficult. My husband and I would call this hotel "comfortable & unpretentious", rate it a 6.5-7, and would consider returning for another stay.

Staff were excellent & very friendly. The hotel setting and views were lovely. We were only there for three days to celebrate my sisters birthday but we were made very welcome by all the staff. The only improvement that could possibly be made is the dinner menu. We would recommend the Hotel Admiral to any traveller.

Everything was fine until we went to check out, when the night manager made it quite obvious that he that he would have preferred us to use cash/travellers cheques. When I insisted upon using my credit card he asked for my PIN and looked quite annoyed when I said I would enter it myself. He made no effort to pass me the machine which was on a table at the back of the reception desk, therefore making it quite difficult for the guest to enter the number. I prevailed and entered my number and got my receipt which he then asked me to sign. I advise other guests to be aware and not to disclose their PINs, which would be easily done if one were tired or stressed - or perhaps plain stupid!

A 5-star hotel at a 2-star price! The staff could not be more pleasent or helpful. The location is out of town but quiet and perfect. Dining at the hotel is very good and there are a number of resturants and groceries nearby.
When you book (and I highly recommend that you do) make sure to ask for the best available ocean view that you can afford. The evening view of the Bay of Naples is fantastic.

The hotel was fine - clean and nice room, lovely view from the balcony although overlooked by another adjacent balcony. Our main problem was the hotel location, which is remote from the town centre and very difficult to find on foot (buses had stopped at 7PM on the day of our arrival). Website says 500m from town square but this is up a very steep and winding hill and even took approx. 15-20min on the public bus in the morning, which is itself infrequent. Shuttle bus advertised by hotel is at 9AM or 4:30PM, not much choice if you want to have a relaxing lie in and breakfast.

We were pleasantly surprised by this Hotel - the view from the balcony was fantastic and is featured on many postcards of Sorrento. Breakfasts were good with a good choice of foods, coooked bacon and eggs, cereals and meats. rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly. If we go to Sorrento again we would return to this hotel.

Overall we were happy with the hotel - fairly modern and spacious enough.
The downsides were that it was a little further from the town centre than we expected - although this was not a big deal as the surrounding area was nice enough.
The cleaners were very friendly and did an excellent job. Breakfast (included) was also very good.
Sadly, the entire stay was spoiled when the staff member who checked us out told us that we must pay cash for the booking. This was the first that we were advised of this and the staff member was very agressive in how he approached the matter, banging the keys around etc. Fortunately I kept a copy of the email from Venere which provided the acceptable methods of payment. Whilst he backed off quickly once we produced the email this stressful encounter ruined our opinion of the hotel and has ensured that we will never return.

I found the stay at the admiral wonderful. The view of vesuvious from our balcony was fantastic!
Only fault I would have with the hotel is that it is REALLY noisy! Tiled floors in the room were not a good option. We could hear the people in the room next to us at night and the room above, we constantly heard the dragging of chairs and clicking of heals. If you want a hotel where you can sleep in past 7.30am I would not recommend staying here!
They also refused to give us an ice box for the wine that we bought in town because we had not bought it from the hotel!

This hotel was great for our honeymoon. We had a great view of Mt. Vesuvius and the sea as well as the little fishing village of Sorrento. Breakfast here was good as it was one of the few places on our tour of Italy that had fresh cut fruit, hot eggs, a larger variety of cereal, and breads. We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely come back.

The Hotel Admiral is a very nice hotel in a great part of Sorrent. The employees are very, very friendly and service-oriented. The only disadvantage is that the walls of the rooms are very thin, and you can hear everything your neighbours are doing. If we come back to Sorrent, we would definitely stay in this hotel again.
Thanks to all the people who work there who made our 25th anniversary a great experience!

It took us 1h30min. to find the hotel. When we arrived, the receptionist only found one reservation and could not give us the second room with an ocean view. She was very nice but we were lucky that she could find a second room for our children in the back of the hotel. The balcony of the room with ocean view is not enclosed and you really share a balcony with your direct neighbors, which really ruins it. The parking was really miserable and next morning we had to wait 30 min. to be able to get out of the parking space.
The hotel was OK and very clean which is also very important, but, overall, we were a little disappointed

We had a fabulous time on honeymoon. Arrived by car which proved difficult as directions are not brilliant and there are never any signposts in Italy. A friendly police man on a scooter gave us an escort! Location is in Marina Grande - a pretty fishing harbour. Fabulous as it's a lovely walk to and from the centre of Sorrento. Hotel is clean. We had a big balcony and a fabulous view of Vesuvio. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.

We had a nice stay at the Admiral... once we got there. It was a bit confusing to find as many locals told us several wrong buses to take to get there. Once you get to the Grand Marina... it's WAY on the left... last hotel. The room was clean and spacious with an EXCELLENT view. It's a little hike up to the main square where all the action is. But, the hotel does offer a shuttle a few times a day. Easy to get to Amalfi and Pompei as day trips. Breakfast okay... very nice young man in bar... thanks for a nice stay.

I selected this hotel as the views from the rooms were described as excellent - and they were depending on what room you got. When booking through Venere, I had the option to select a sea view and balcony. This was confirmed by email. On arrival, I did not get a room with a balcony. The receptionist said that I had not specified what kind of balcony and I had been given a "french" balcony. This was basically a protective rail against a full opeing door. The next day though, I got a room change but for one night, I did not get what I had selected or paid for.

Although a little difficult to find, the journey is worthwhile, this hotel is located a short 5-10 minute walk away from downtown in a quaint Marina area. The service was great, the pool/sunbed area was clean(although limited sun after 3 due to the cliffs located behind. All in all had a wonderful experience. Definintely recommend paying for the upgrade for a seaview room, also request a room that is not above the reception area as it can get quite loud in the room. Wonderful restaurants located nearby in the Marina area if you wish to stay close to the hotel.

Excellent hotel and location. Lovely walk through quaint streets to the town centre.
We hired a car at the airport and drove to the hotel, this was more difficult than expected (detailed directions would be helpful). Driving to and parking at the hotel is only recommended for confident drivers.
View from the balcony was stunning, difficult to imagine any better situated hotel in europe.
We had 3 double rooms, 2 of the balconies were enormous which made the other balcony (normal size) seem disappointing. Make sure you ask for the larger balcony!
The staff were very friendly and the barman (Antonio??) could not have been more helpful.

Wonderful location off the beaten track and about a 10 minute walk or shuttle bus from the centre of town. The local restaurants are marvellous with a untouristy italian atmosphere. The hotel is right on the water (you can hear the waves lapping the wall). It's worth paying the extra for a water view. Breakfast extensive including cooked bacon, eggs etc. Would definately recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

The hotel was in a great spot and we had a huge balcony overlooking the water. A bottle of champagne(asti) was in our room when we arrived. The walk into Sorrento was nice and less than 20 minutes. The hotel clerk worked to get us a cab for 5:00A.M. for 4 people plus bags. The buffet breakfast had many good choices, however the coffee was terrible (we found out later we could order cappucino-much better).

What a Spectacular view! All of the rooms at Hotel Admiral have beautiful ocean views. If you are coming in from the train station, I recommend getting a taxi that knows where this hotel is, otherwise you may not find it. The Hotel is off the beaten path but definitely worth the view and quiet location. We loved it so much that we didn't want to leave.

I cannot say enough abouth this hotel. From the location, the breakfast, the rooms, the management to the best feature of all the staff,it was all one of the best times of my life.
If you should stay there ,just ask Santino (SANTO) for anything. He is a GENTLEMAN from the word go and will do anything you ask,(he and his wife got up one morning to give our friends a ride to the train station at 5:30 am because he could not find a taxi the evening before at 12:30 when my friend ask him).He will also recommend places to eat ithin your means if you ask him,to the best places there are in the city. The reat of the staff was just as nice as Santo,
The veiw from the balcony was beautiful. I cannot say enough about our stay there and would go back in a heartbeat.Sould you go there please tell Santo and the staff GARY,TARA,BILLY,ANNETTE,MATTEO,MARIA,MARIE AND BILLY Q. of south Philadelphia chow babe and enjoy yourself.

Hard to find the hotel from the maps supplied. The soundproofing of the room was shocking - we could only go to sleep when the rooms either side of us did. We might as well have sleeped in their rooms. The 'car park' only took four cars so you have to park quite some distance from the hotel.

We were worried that not being right in Sorrento would be a disadvantage. It wasn't: there is a pleasant winding pedestrian path to town that only takes about a 15 minute walk. Also there's a regular city bus that stops just a short distance from the Admiral. We took that bus to the train station (about a 20 minute ride cause of the narrow, winding city street route the bus must take), and thus had easy, inexpensive day trips to Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Naples. The dining staff at the Admiral was great, very attentive and good food. Get the breakfasts with your room, they're worth it. We'll be recommending the Admiral to friends--only the unfavorable dollar to euro exchange rate put it on the expensive side of what we normally look for.

The view from Hotel Admiral is fabulous. there was nothing like sitting or lounging on the terrace which overhangs the sea. The location is great, you can take a pleasant 20 minute walk to Sorrento, and although the Marina Grande is far from glam, there is an authenticness which maybe is missing from the Marina Piccola. We had a great stay and would go back in a flash

very nice new hotel but could be finished better.... i sense they could improve further ie a proper entrance (i walked straight past it), screwing lights on properly.
Hotel is very far away from the station and i advise a taxi 1st time... we got lost and could see the hotel about two hunderd metres away but had to go around the cliffs for an hour to get down there.... arrived very sweaty and annoied. Asked for a balcony facing the sea but got a side one.. might have been more privte in retrospect but they never took my request into consideration. View was magnificent though and enjoyed a drink up there of an evening... may revisit
