Wonderful place with welcoming owners and extraordinary views. Is 7 - 8 mins out of Sorrento town, so a care is very helpful. Breakfast is very good -- love the fresh-squeezed orange juice -- and dinners are comparable to good local restaurants

We traveled with another couple and found Il Nido to be just perfect. We were all pleased with our rooms, the staff, the view and the food. Did we mention the food? It was fabulous, definitely eat in the restaurant early in the stay as you will eat there again. The shuttle worked great. The perfect spot for day trips too. Thank you Il Nido!

This was the second part of our trip. We got there after dark. The view was unbelievable at night and even better in the morning. The rooms are large and we had a balcony overlooking the bay. We arrived 5 mins before the restaurant was to close. They stayed open so that we could eat there. The food is good. We were there over New Years Eve. They do a New Years Eve party that was great. At midnight we watched all the fireworks from the patio. The internet access is nice. We would stay again.

My partner and I spent New Years at Il Nido and were very impressed with the quality of services and facilities offered at this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and kind and all of the information (prices, location, services offered) was accurate and no hidden fees associated. The shuttle to the train station and designated drops is invaluable and the food at the hotel's restaurant is delicious. We went with no set plans for New Years Eve, but the hotel offered a gorgeous, affordable meal and helped ring in the new year with an amazing view of the coast and all of the fireworks. Both my partner and I highly recommend this establishment for couples or families and intend on visiting again in the future.

We stayed at Il Nido for three night and it was amazing. The view from the Hotel is amazing although this time of year was a little hazy. The staff was very helpful. The restaurant was very good. Tony, the shuttle driver, was extremely helpful. He recommended a great restaurant and made us reservations as our Italian was not up to par. Also, the fact that the hotel has complimentary internet access is very helpful. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the sorrento area.

A true gem! We had a delightful stay here and are now planning a return visit. It was exactly what we wanted and needed, a tranquil retreat, with excellent food and ambience, yet within a short drive of the town centre. DIno and family provided the warmth and charm that other hotels lack. Thanks!

The hotel is outside of Sorrent and this is an ADVANTAGE !!! Marvellous site - perfect shuttle service. The family-run hotel is one of the most heartly we have ever experienced. Thanks to the staff. The restaurant is excellent and the art, how you are treated as a guest, is sensationell. The rooms are spacious. Our bath was not quite perfect as the air-circulation seems to be not good enough. Some things did not quite work as expected (public tranport system) but this is one of the features which make this region of the world so loveable :-) Some words to the region: never met so honest people, so nice people, people so full of spirits as in naples and the surroundings. We have not been robbed or cheated at any time but we have met a lot of people who helped us and who showed an attitude to strangers as a lot of regions of Europe otherwise lack (our home-coúntry included). THANKS to all the wonderful people in Naples, Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi, and so on and a special thanks to IL NIDO. Yes, we recommend both from the bottom of our heart: the Gulf of Naples and IL NIDO. See you again, guys !!!

This beautiful hotel is perched high up so our room (with balcony) overlooked the entire coasling. If you are into charm and a quiet, beautiful landscape, this is your place. A family affair. Children run the hotel and Mama does the cooking. The dinners were great and the prices reasonable. The bus into Amalfi, Positano, etc. picked up right outside the hotel. A very nice little restaurant about 300 meters down the hill from Il Nido had really good food too. Overall, we loved our stay and would do it again if we returned.

Although a good 10 minutes from the middle of Sorrento by car, this hotel was superb. Modern and very clean, very good breakfast and reasonably priced evening meals. If you are English and enjoy your cuppa take a kettle - as all hotels in Italy, they do not exist! Very friendly family run business.Would recommend to anyone - the view is superb.

Great breakfast selection and views of bay! Very secluded area. Sometimes waiting to take the shuttle bus downtown or back to hotel was a hassle for us, so my thought was to stay in town of Sorrento next time to be close to boat harbor, restaurants, etc.

We stayed 2 days in Sorrento. The hotel is high up on the hill, but there is excellent van service very frequently so that is not a problem getting down from the hotel. The interent in the lobby is free. The hotel clerk very very helpful in making sure we got to see everything in our short time. The hotel restaurant has a great view and the food is pretty good too. I would recommend this hotel.

I loved my stay at Il Nido. While I'm sure there's more luxurious and expensive hotels in Sorrento, Il Nido is a special place. I had breakfast, drinks and dinner on the dining area patio, which overlooked the bay and Mount Vesuvius. And the food and service were spectacular, especially the seafood. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. And the staff went out of their way to make my stay as a solo traveler a pleasant one. Whether a honeymoon or the first time in Italy, I would highly recommend Il Nido to travelers looking for the best hotel deal in town.

Il Nido is an outstanding hotel. Everything about it is the tops. The guest rooms are large. Ours, booked and paid for as a couple, had a double bed, a separate single bed, chairs, spacious wardrobe and drawers, our own balcony, with wonderful views across the bay, and a lovely big bathroom with both bath and shower. This place has it all. Breakfasts are full; just about everything in a buffet, inclusive of scrambled eggs and hot sausages. Plus lots of healthy eating. We ate in most evenings, as Il Nido is also a fine restaurant serving excellent local dishes in generous amounts at very fair prices. Il Nido is family run. We mostly saw Dino, who speaks good English and is very helpful and courteous. Il Nido is up on the Sorrento Peninsula, a few kilometres from the town. This worked well in all ways. Il Nido has its own mini-bus to pick up and drop down at hourly intervals. We always got in full days out and were never left waiting. We were collected from the station soon after arrival and taken there for our final departure. But, being up on the Peninsula, Il Nido is also well placed for visits to other local places. For example, the ordinary low-cost bus along the Amalfi Coast runs past Il Nido and has a stop opposite. We also had several fine walks out on the lovely Sorrento/Amalfi Peninsula.

My friend and I stayed here for 2 nights and couldn't have loved the hotel more. Dino (the owner) and his family were extremely hospitable and went out of their way to make you feel at home. The view was incredible (you could see the entire bay of Naples and Vesuvius from the terrace), the restaurant was delicious, and rooms were pleasantly spacious. The hotel is about 10 minutes from the city center (the price you pay for an incredible view), but they accommodate this small obstacle with a free shuttle that runs once an hour to/from the city. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sorrento and would return (and hope to!) in a heartbeat.

Great hotel with terrific view. Try and get the hotel shuttle when you get in. It's a 30 Euro cab ride from the train station. The shuttle is very usable and is a nice touch. You get a nice printout with all the shuttle and SITA schedules. There is a SITA stop just outside the hotel. Make sure you flag down the bus as soon as you see it round the corner. They come up the hill pretty quickly and I had one pass me right by.

We arrived in Sorrento at 10am but the check-in time is not until 3pm. The shuttle bus driver offered to take our luggage to the hotel but could not let us in the bus until 3pm. Not knowing who the driver was until we arrived at the hotel, my husband did not trust him with our luggages. We ended up checking-in our 2 big luggages for 2 Euros each in a coffee shop at the train station so we can go around Sorrento, only to find out that the driver was the owner's brother. They got a little upset that we did not trust them. But who knows! Other than that, the rest of our stay was excellent. The hotel is very good for the money. Breakfast is excellent and dinner is cheaper and much better than the restaurant we ate at in downtown Sorrento. We used the shuttle bus a lot. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anybody.

We stayed at Il Nido for 6 nights at the end of August. This hotel is still a secret gem. The staff treats you like family. My wife and I looked forward to returning to our little "nest" on top of the mountain each night away from the noise of the downtown area. The restaurant was terrific. The view is to die for. We looked at places closer to town during our visit to compare but realiized Il Nido could not be beat. I can't think of anywhere else that an owner would drive you to a 6:30AM Sat. bus to catch a early flight personally. Great job Gino!

The family room for 4 was very spacious with a lovely view of the bay. The courtesy bus provided an excellent service in and out of Sorrento (It would be difficult to manage without it). On the minus side breakfast was not very imaginative (the fruit salad seemed to be from a tin). Also there could be somewhere to sit outside of the restaurant (there is a bar but it did not seem to be open). Overall though an excelent place to stay.

Had a beautiful view from the room and on the terrace for breakfast and dinner. Dinner was great and breakfast had a wide selection, even scrambled eggs and sausages! Only downer was the distance from the transport links in Sorrento - we had to rush our breakfast to get the 8am bus (we had a long day planned). On the plus side I suppose, the public bus from Amalfi and Positano drops you right outside the hotel.

Worth it for the view alone! Friendly staff, good food, handy shuttle bus down the hill to Sorrento so all in all, when combined with the stunning view across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius from our balcony (and the resteraunt) it's a good little hotel. A little dated decor wise but perfect for a weekend.

Wow!! after staying at other 3 star hotels in Rome and Venice, Hotel Il Nido felt like a 5 Star. Largest rooms, most comfortable beds and best breakfast. We arrived at the train station at 8:30 PM, tired and hungry and with all our luggage. The hotel sent the shuttle bus right away to pick up our luggage and show us where to meet the shuttle and its pick up times. We then were able to have a wonderful dinner and tour a bit of beautiful Sorrento. We stayed three nights and wished we were staying longer. The hotel staff was wonderful, we would definately stay here again if we are lucky enough to return.

The shower in the bathroom is a bit tight if your on the large size. Although only there for a couple of nights we would certainly stay here again. The only downside for me was having to get the free hotel bus to town but we know about this before we booked so not a problem.

Great hotel, friendly staff in general. We arrived early and rung to find out how to get to the hotel with the free shuttle. The person on the phone did not speak English (lucky i spoke enough Italian) and did not offer to pick us up like mentioned in reviews we had read. The shuttle bus did not go to the train station until after 3pm. It was easy to get to the hotel by public bus (as described by person on the phone) if you can speak Italian, difficult if could not speak Italian. The food is great and affordable at the hotel. Overall, a great hotel with great views of Sorrento. Great memories. Would return to this hotel in future.

i stayed for 6 nights at the hotel il nido and found it to be an excellent place to be in. special mention must be made of room upkeep, regular shuttle to town, service with a smile, excellent view from the room and the dining terrace, a very satisfying breakfast. i found the price-quality relationship to be very good. in fact, i had gone to sorrento to attend a scientific meeting, and came across many participants who were paying more for fewer and substandard facilities. i would recommend the hotel il nido without a hitch.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Il Nido for 3 nights in April. Our stay was delightful. The staff is warm and accommodating, the shuttle is reliable, the views are beautiful. Our room was huge, including the bathroom, and the food is delicious. Breakfast included scrambled eggs (among many other things) which we found a nice surprise (most Italian hotels didn't have scrambled eggs). Notice, the shuttle doesn't pick up until after 3 pm, so if you arrive in Sorrento before then you'll need other arrangements to get to Il Nido (I don't recommend a taxi - very expensive). We also had a small balcony with a view of the sea, a nice benefit (ask for it in advance). I rated "quietness of rooms" only a 7 because we were near a family with children, and their occassional loud voices weren't absorbed at all - they seemed to be in our room. It wasn't a big deal, though. I gave "services and facilities offered" only a 7 because the website says they have satellite TV, but this means only 3 channels. (We expected something more). Again, not a big deal. They also have Internet access 24/7, which was a nice surprise, and it's free between 6 am and midnight. Overall a wonderful place, especially for the price, we would definitely return.

Very friendly and competent service. The quality of the meals provided was very good; in fact we recomend highly to take dinner at the hotel (a thing which we generally don't do) and to enjoy the stupendous view from the terrace and the dining room. Great! We definitely will come back to "Il Nido" when we'll return to the area. Ingrid and Alex from Germany

This is a great hotel for a no frills stay in Sorrento. You receive a wondeful view on the hill of the ocean below.Make sure you know going in that it takes 15 minutes to get into the center of town, and while they provide a shuttle service it stops at 11 pm. For this reason, this hotel is not recommended for people who want to stay out late, because taxis cost as much as 40 euros from the town. The hotel a great choice overall if you want a great view for excellent value, and the family run place will surely make you feel at home.

This is a very warm and welcoming hotel which I would recommend to everyone. It is a fifteen minute shuttle ride into the hills which provides magnificient views and quiet nights after very busy days. The service could not have been better, shuttle you to and from the train station as well as an hourly shuttle to town. They serve a beautiful breakfast either inside or on the terrace where you can enjoy the fabulous view. They have a restaurant for dinner. They do not serve lunch yet when we arrived in the afternoon exhausted from our plane and train ride, Dino graciously prepared a lunch plate for each of us. The bedrooms and bathrooms are very clean and have balconys with chairs so you can enjoy the views. The shuttle is very prompt. There is free internet in the lobby for your use. I travel constantly and have never felt more at home in a hotel.A stay at il Nido and a visit to Sorrento should be on everyone's trip to Italy. The town offers excellent restaurants, shopping, trips to Capri and Pompei. We stayed four nights here before we went to Florence and Rome. In Sorrento you get to visit with the Italian people where as Florence and Rome is much busier and you are with more tourists. After a very long plane ride from America followed by a train ride, a stay in Sorrento is a little piece of heaven. Darlene Huet

Il Nido is a great choice for a budget conscious but somewhat discerning traveler. We used it as a base for day trips along the Amalfi coast, and it is fairly well situated in Sorrento. They have a shuttle bus that leaves regularly from the hotel to the city center, where you can hop a ferry or bus to any number of places (Capri, Positano, etc.) The rooms are plain, but spacious enough, the bathrooms, plain as well, and the meals fine. But the views are spectacular from every room and expecially from the hotel restaurant. A fine place to stay if you plan to travel around the region.

We found this hotel to be the best we encountered in Europe, and although the location outside of the town could be problem for some, it did not inconvenience us at all. We ate at the hotel restaurant each of the three nights we stayed and can report that the food was as good as any we experienced during our travels and was significantly less espensive than comparable meals in other locations. Breakfast was similarly good with a wider variety than we found elsewhere. The only minor problems were a rather over-active air conditioning thermostat that cycled on and off at a rapid rate, and a slippery bath base in the bath/shower. Our room over-looked the Bay and would have had spectacular views to Vesuvius had the air not been full of smoke from the mnay fires set by local farmers to burn prunings.

A gem. I arrived tired and hungry at a time when the resturant was closed. The girl at the desk took the time to fix me lunch. View from my room incredible. Room clean, quite spacious. Shuttle into town convenient. Not a single negative thing to say about this lovely hotel. I hope to return.
