Brilliant location, nice enough hotel, but the staff are very uncommunicative and unwelcoming.

The hotel is located right in the center. The access to shopping and dining are a matter of walking out the door. The port is within easy distance although you must walk the stairs. I also walked from the train station, which did not take long. My room was not in the front of the hotel and was quiet. The size was large by European standards. A pleasant surprise the room had air conditioning although it cooled the room it didn't get overly cool. Breakfast was basic bread, meat, cheese, yogurt, cereal. They had nice sitting rooms if you choose to use them. For the time of year the price was very reasonable for the location and accomodations.

Generally a nice Hotel but would benefit from improved and more diverse public services eg bar etc.Good location and close to rail station , shopping areas and good restaurants.

we stayed in this hotel whist touring the amalfi coast, and its location certainly helped us enjoy Sorrento! a stones throw away from the lively streets and restaurants, very basic but clean accommodation. Would definately recommend this hotel for short stays, but the grumpy staff may dampen your spirits on a longer stay!

Was not impressed with this dingy little hotel. It offered a good price and an excellent location. You can walk to ferries and the Circumvesa from there. Right in the middle of town- good shopping (cheap exchange rates for the american $).

Excellent location right in the centre of Sorrento, yet only 5 mins walk from the railway & bus station so easy access from Naples/to Pompeii/Amalfi coast. Taxi rank is outside the hotel so there is noise from this if you have your balcony doors open. The room was plenty big enough for 2 people for 4 nights and the bathroom was one of the best in terms of quality we have experienced. Breakfast was adequate although exactly the same each day and tea/coffee was made to order in the kitchen rather than being readily accessible. With one exception, don't expect too much smiling from the staff!

ABsolutely great location. Close to Circumvesuviana, the port, restaurants. Our two rooms were at the back of the hotel, so we had no street noise at all. The rooms were small (as we expected so no complaints). It could have been a little cleaner.

Convenient location in the centre of Sorrento and surprisingly little noise from outside considering this! However there was significant noise from other rooms. Good sized, clean rooms and friendly service.

Lovely small hotel placed perfectly for convenience to main piazza. My room was small but it was a single and the price was good. The central hall acted like an echo chamber when some of the other customers were loud coming in at night.

great central location to shops and restaurants. easy walking to train station and to marina. very large bathroom and shower. a lot of street noise at night, but not too bad with the windows shut. very bland breakfast. safe and hairdryer in room were appreciated.

The location was perfect, within easy walking distance (with luggage) to the train station and the main areas, buses, restaurants, etc. Our room faced the street and I was a little worried that it would be noisy at night, but once the windows were shut, it was completely silent. The rooms were a good size, nicely furnished, comfortable bed with clean, crisp linens. There's a very pretty breakfast room (good capuccino) and a large and comfortable lobby sitting area. The staff was not overly friendly, but they were helpful enough when we had specific requests. Do not recommend the Aurora restaurant next door. The food was okay but overpriced and the waiters were rude, sarcastic, and obnoxious. The place across the street was better in all respects. Also recommend Ristorante Lanterna Due on Santa Maria della Grazie - just a bit away from the crowds but great food and fun waiters. Indoor and outdoor tables.
USA, Jul 2007
The beds were not that comfortable and the front desk controls the air conditioning in the room. The room would be muggy all the time because the front desk turns off the a/c when you leave. The location is great though. However, I found it rather annoying to have to turn in the hotel key every time I left. At times when I returned, I would have to wait for the person working the front desk to show up.

We asked for a room with a balcony and view and we got just that. Room was on the small size- bathroom was large- balcony was huge with deck chairs, a table and view overlooking part of the piazza and street below. Noise was not an issue.

Very nice room, excellent location, good typical Italian breakfast, very nice reading room. Garden view was very quiet and peaceful. Only distraction was being able to hear everything, including newspaper turning, in adjacent room thru locked door. Would ask for non-connected room next time.

The location of the hotel is very convenient for transportation and dinner restaurants. The quality of the breakfasts was quite acceptable. Other travellers have commented negatively about street noise, but my room (in the back) was quiet. My only complaint is the size of the bed, which was very narrow even for a single.

Excellent location. This is a tier-2 property [tier-1's are almost double the price), and if you don't want to pay absolute top dollar, you won't be disappointed with this location. It is smack dab in the middle of all of the goings-on in the main piazza. Short walk to the beach, short walk to the train [train will take you to Pompeii and Herculaneum among other places], and restaurants are numerous and close. The rooms are pretty small, but adequate. The guest lounge area is quite nice, and the staff is quite friendly and helpful.

The Sorrento is an older building that has been updated. We enjoyed our stay there. The room was airy and spacious. The staff was VERY helpful for finding activities and answering questions about how things are done. The breakfast buffet was pretty good for a 3-stay hotel. Breads, cereal, meat, cheese, spreads

Overall stay was good. A few minor inconviences (air conditioner worked intermittently). Good central location, but the trade off to this is a lot of street noise pretty much all night long.

You can't beat the location...right in the heart of Sorrento. The hotel was quite comfortable and the breakfast was better than many other hotels that I have visited. The staff was friendly and competent. Price was great. The single rooms are rather small...so would recommend requesting a double room. I would/will definitely stay again when in the area.

The hotel was centrally located near the train and near the downtown area. We were able to walk to the port to take a trip to Capri and used this as a homebase to tour Amalfi Coast. Windows blocked most of the street noise (walls in room did not keep out adjoining rooms though). We'd probably stay here again.

although a very nice older hotel in a great central situation, we were disappointed with the lack of parking facilities offered & the staffs lack of knowledge regarding these. It took 2 hours to get our car parked about 6oo metres in a public carpark at a cost to us of 20 Euros. Don't take a car.

When booking this hotel I asked for a room on an upper floor with a balcony or terrace, if possible. We got exactly that. Fourth floor and good view of Bay of Naples and surrounding hills. This hotel is right in the heart of the action and, therefore, can be noisy from scooter traffic and tourists up very late. The city closes off the main drag from 7 pm to 7 am to traffic, which helps. There is a laundromat about 5 blks away which was very busy with tourists doing their wash. Good location for day trip to Pompeii. The Circumvesuviana railroad is pretty jammed with tourists and commuters alike.

Superb location right on Piazza di Tasso, at the same time being very tranquil with virtually no noise to be heard in the room (in the middle of August). Cleanliness was excellent with towels and sheets being changed every day by the polite and friendly cleaning staff. Salvatore and Simonetta were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff were either shy or burnt out and seemed unable to be cheerful at breakfast time. Three things were missing -a bar, a garden or terrace and (the good old English thing) tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The taxi rank and bus stops are virtually outside thus making the issue of transport easily soluble. Overall we would definitely go back again and should we still be keeping to the same budget, we would return to Sorrento and the Villa di Sorrento! We have also recommended it to friends on a similar budget. Please reword your question 2 on under ¨search of your chosen property - we don´t understand it??

The Hotel was located exactly where we wanted to be and as advertised, on Tasso Square in the heart of Sorrento. We had a lovely little veranda off of the room, with a comfortable set of chairs and a table, that afforded a nice breeze and a partial view of the Gulf of Naples. The convience to the central square (Tasso Square) was exactly what we had hoped for. We were right at the major attractions of stores and restaurants but still enjoyed the privacy and quiet atmosphere of the Hotel. Breakfast was include and was plenty enough for us. The Hotel staff were quite pleasant and helpful. The air conditioning worked! We were there in late June and it was around 90 degrees F during the day.

A centrally located Sorrento hotel. Despite the breakfast not being included in the price quoted on Venere, the hotel staff assured us it was included. The main downside was that the room I had adjoined another, and the shared door was not sound proof.

We were very happy with our room and location of the hotel. There was however, a lack of information available in relation to sightseeing etc and we found the staff did not offer much assistance in this area either. Otherwise, a very enjoyable stay and would recommend to others particularly for its location.

We chose Villa di Sorrento mostly for its location since we planned to use Sorrento as a base to explore Capri and Pompeii. It is very centrally located on the main square and close to the train station and port. The rooms are clean and complete and a decent size. That said, it can be very loud since you are in the center of everything. The windows are sound proof though, which provides some relief. One thing to note though: you can get a rate that doesn't include breakfast, which I didn't realize until we were there. I would strongly suggest looking into this as they charge quite a great deal for breakfast and you can do a lot better in one of the cafes on the square outside.

We stayed at the Villa di Sorrento in October 2004. It is a lovely little hotel with a kind of faded charm. It is in a great location in the centre of town, really convenient for trains, buses, shops and cafes. The rooms are clean, light and spacious if slightly bare. We stayed in a room at the front and were worried it might be noisy but double glazing to the balcony meant the room was very quiet. The breakfast was not great, but with so many other places to eat nearby this hardly mattered. All in all, this hotel offered great value for money, we would definitely stay there again.

The 2 girls at the front desk were surprisingly very unfriendly. When I arrived, I was not even acknowledged, just handed a key and told "3rd floor," while others arriving later were given info re breakfast, surroundings & what other things the hotel offered. The room was very nice, but while I was on the top (4th floor) in the rear, it was still rather noisy late into the evening with street noise. I would have enjoyed my stay much more if the staff would have been friendlier and even returned a smile to my friendly greetings everytime I entered the lobby. Rudeness is a turnoff that tarnishes the hotel.

We just loved this hotel. Ideal location, pretty new bathrooms, friendly and competent service, nice breakfast room with fine china. Breakfast itself was the usual limited fare of rolls, ham, cheese, jams, fruit, coffee or tea. That doesn't sound so limited as I'm writing this, but it does get boring after a couple of weeks in Italy, and one does start to have thoughts of going out for an English or American breakfast. However, the quality of the food at this hotel seemed better than we experienced elsewhere. The hotel deserves better than its 3 stars, or at least deserves to be rated a superior three star hotel. Our first few nights were in a room on the top floor, facing the square. That room was absolutely quiet with the windows closed (amazing, given the activity in the street below). When we extended our stay beyond our original reservation, we had to move down a floor. We could hear some noise in that room, but it was nothing much. The only unpleasant surprise at this hotel was that the advertised free parking did not exist. Parking -- in a spacious and well-monitored lot about 50 meters away -- cost about 15 euros a day. But we were happy enough with the hotel that we weren't at all upset about having to pay for the parking.

The Hotel itself was good, in a great location, which is why we picked it. I arrived and wondered where the free parking was when I enquired at reception whilst my husband waited outside. I was told by the lady on duty that there was no free parking and you had to park up behind the hotel in a public car park, which prooved very expensive. We spent around £60 extra just to park whilst we were there. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was of the continental variety, which was fine. One night we did have a problem with the people in the next room having their TV on at full volume, but at 2.30am we phoned down and reported it to reception and I must say it was dealt with very quickly and we did not have the problem again.

Villa de Sorrento was only 3 blocks from the Circumvesuviana train station, right off the central square . The location couldn't be better for taking the railroad, the boats to Capri and Positano, etc,. It was near the restaurants and shopping. However, even though we were near where all the action was, once we entered our room we had total silence. While the desk staff were not overly friendly they answered all our questions and the wait-staff in the breakfast room was veryefficient. Over all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at there.

Staff not very welcoming, room had an adjoining room which was locked and being used by another guest who was extremely rude, loud all night ( I mean ALL night) tv on loud and talking on cell phone til 5;30 am, thin walls too so noise was even worse. Staff was uncaring and did nothing to even try to make us happy. No free brkfst or reduced rate or even an apology, just an "oh". Otherwise, great location.
