Delighted with the welcome we received - the manager on duty provided excellent references for local restaurants, which were exactly as he had described them. The hotal is very well situated, being close to the town centre and the railway station. We had expected to have to use our car to get around, but left i parked in the hotel car park for the whole stay! This was our first visit to Sorrento, and we would recommend this hotel as a good base for visiting the area.

Service was not up to standard at all, I was very dissapointed with the staff at this hotel. They were not helpful and seemed like they did not care at all. I would never stay here again, not worth the money at all.

The Hotel was very good. It is very close to the main town square where there are plenty of restaurants and cafes from which to choose. It would be good to advertise that the hotel is only 10 minute walk from the local train station. I travelled from Rome to Naples, then took the local train from Naples to Sorrento. I stayed 2 nights. Apart from seeing Sorrento, I took the 20 minute boat ride to Capri - a must if visiting Sorrento. Both places are wonderful. I also took the opportunity to travel part of the way along the Amalfi Coast. The hotel provided a most lavious breakfast as part of the tarriff.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Carlton and look forward to our return to Sorento when we again stay with the wonderful folks of the Carlton International. The breakfasts were great and the wait staff treated us in an exceptional way. Thank you all!!!! Alan

Positive: location, breakfast, service, staff. Negative: tiny shower, room, and beds, only CNN in English. Wouldn’t stay there again because of the shower - it's 2" by 2" and the curtain keeps sticking to your body. I felt claustrophobic in there. Sorrento was fabulous.

First time in Sorrento. There is a bar next door so if you need an early night you might hear this if you're in the end room. Seems to be a rush to breakfast in the morning and a rush to the sunbeds. Paying for sunbeds is ridiculous in a four star hotel.
Shower very small so water everywhere.

The hotel itself is fine, it is just not a very Italian feeling hotel. I was looking for something a little more characteristic of Sorrento and the bay, but it felt like a Holiday Inn in Florida. Location is great - Close to the train station and center of town. But, I will choose to stay elsewhere next time.

The hotel is ideally located 2 mins from the main square, thus you are subjected to traffic noise if you are positioned on the front of the hotel. The staff we all friendly and polite, we asked for my daughters bed to be chnged as it was only a very small fold out camp bed. The first time of asking we were told that the third beds are all standard. I tried to sleep in it on the second night it was awful so i asked again at reception the following morning, after a few phone calls the receptionist informed me that a new bed was on its way, sure enough within 15 mins the bed was replaced..
Overall a nice hotel clean and presentable but 4* is pushing it a good 3*+ i would say..
Sorrento is lovely enjoy

A great location. My wife and I found more than we expected. You won't be disappointed. Clean, quiet, with a calming peaceful, classy decor. Our balcony overlooked the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvious. One short block to Piazza Tasso and Piazza San Antonio for shopping and restaurants, and romantic strolls. All in a safe environment. All transportation was very close including train to Pompeii, Naples, etc., local bus, excursion buses, ferries to Capri, Ischia, Amalfi coast. The breakfast area was pleasant and buffet is bountiful. We enjoyed a wide range of fun from sharing a gelati on the Piazza to a memorable and expensive but delighful dinner at Caruso's. After Capri, purchased wine and sandwiches on the street and dined on our balcony. Viva Italia! I could go on and on. But it began with our hotel room.
We will come back to Sorrento, and we will stay in the Carlton. Magnifico!

The best thing about the Carlton is the location - right in the middle of the town with absolutely everything on your doorstep. This is my third year running that Ive stayed in the Carlton so Im a big fan, its so clean, towels are changed twice a day and the staff are so friendly. My only gripe would be the food, this year it wasnt as good as previous years. Im a vegetarian and they really need a greater choice for dinner. There was a great selection if you like lamb, veal, rabbit etc but some nights my only option was an omelette, which appeared almost every night. Despite that I'll be back next year but will just stick to B&B.

The hotel was clean and friendly. Staff were very helpful. Ideal location couldn't really fault anything only the people in the next room. Never heard anything on either side until the last 3 nights of the holiday when a young couple came. They came in late about 4am shouting and then made love very loud. The noise would have been loud were ever you stayed they were that type of people. The night porter did not deal with it and that is my only complaint. Everything else was as expected and better. I will return to the hotel.

Didnt find Reception staff very friendly or helpful. Also Luige, the Pool man, could be quite rude sometimes. Bar staff were very friendly, three men in particular, not sure of their names, one was Antonio I think, serving drinks by the pool and at night in the bar, very nice men. Hotel itself is lovely, fantastic location and lovely place to stay, perfect. Would definately recommend it and return. One point I'd like to make, I felt the pool closing at 6pm was far too early, 7pm or later even, the sun didnt go down till after 8pm most nights.

An Excellent Hotel in the centre of Sorrento right near Piazza Tasso. Better location than the sea front hotels as the tiny beaches/bathing platforms can only be reached at the base of high cliffs. Staff were very friendly and organised excursions for us on request. Pool was clean and safe for kids, food excellent. 5 euro per day charge for sun loungers has been cited by other users as an issue, our opinion was that this actually reduced stress seeing as there was no early morning rush to put towels out and the loungers were yours for the whole day without worries.
All in all the holiday was brilliant and I would recommend the hotel to other families travelling to the area. We'll be back to the Carlton... Sorrento is wonderful!

Carlton International Hotel in Sorrento is in a good location and has a garage for your car which you can otherwise leave in a parking lot a short distance away. It is ideal for reaching the port as well as the city centre. I was not impressed by its Menu however and preferred eating in very good Italian restaurants nearby. All in all a good Hotel to stay in and Sorrento is delightful.

This is a good, comfortable hotel in an excellent location, literally one minutes stroll from Tasso Square and five from the Station. The staff are friendly and helpful and the gardens and pool area private and relaxing. We were not leaving until the evening and although we could not keep the room as new arrivals had booked it, the hotel kept our luggage and allowed us to change etc before departure. No problems to mention at all.

We spent 5 nights at the Carlton and thoroughly enjoyed it. It seems that the airconditioning is only available when the outside temperature necessitates it, and that is OK. The breakfast choices were very good, the staff very attentive and the facilities more than adequate. The big advantage of the Carlton is its location - just a little off the main street so it is relatively quiet and the ease with which everything can be reached by a flat walk to the main piazza. We felt very very comfortable

Great location inthe heart of Sorrento. Just a couple of blocks from the train station (Circumvisuviana) and a quick walk to the Marina for boats to Capri, Positano and Amaplfi. Just around the corner from the main sqaure, Tasso Square. Pool area was lovely with orange, lemon and lime trees. Pool was not heated. Suggest eating at Don Vioncenzo's on the square. Excellent meal! The shower curtain was actual fabric and tended to stick to your body once the hot air began to rise like a chimney and the curtain moved toward the center of the shower. I was assured these would be changed by next year. We would definately stay here again if we ever returned to Sorrento.

We were thrilled with the location of this hotel, just around the corner from Piazza Tasso. Although the room was small, we expected that, and the balcony gave us some added living space. Everything was extremely clean and looked well-kept. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. We would definitely stay here in the future!

The hotel was in an excellent location. It was virtually steps from Piazza Tasso. The view from the balcony was wonderful. The room and public areas were really clean. The room itself was comfortable. Breakfast included scrambled eggs and bacon (unusual for Italian hotels). Probably a little on the pricey side, but I would stay there again.

Stayed 7 nights in August. A great location, 1 min from the centre square 'in' Sorrento! Room was spacious & clean. We had a 2nd Fl Blacony seaview but some trees partially block view (Ask for higher room for clearer view). Lovely Poolside & garden. Deckchairs free, Sun Loungers €5 per day(with towel, but no Mattress). Pool is cleaned @ 6pm sharp (too early!). Daily Dinner menu had no price. Sorrento has loads of lovely restaurants in the town. We were Happy to find Hotel used by numerous Travel Companies incl Irish Topflight, so had info on local areas & tours.

Generally the hotel was very comfortable and, well situated to Sorrento facilties. The swimming pool area was rather over-crowded due to members from other nearby hotels allowed use of the facilities too within a faily small area around the swimming pool. There was very little precise tourist information available in relation to excursions, trips, etc.
There was no choice of evening catering with only the one choice of the very expensive restaurant dinner.

We stayed at Carlton International in Sorrento for 4 nights. The location was excellent, it was very central. The dissapointing part however was the fact that you had to pay 7 euros to use the pool (there is no mention of this on the web site- we booked this particular hotel because it had a pool) and also the fact that the pool is shared with the hotel next door. Therefore if you wanted a sun lounger you had to be out by the pool by 10am otherwise you missed out for the day! Another gripe is upon checkout the person at the front counter said we could get a boat to amalfi- true- but only once we got down to the port on the overcrowded bus with our cases etc we found out there were only 2 ferries a day and we had missed the last one by 3 hours! I don't believe this hotel should be awarded 4 stars...there wasn't even a mini bar in the room. Four star prices for a 2 star hotel.

This was an excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in one of the smaller twin rooms but the size was perfectly adequate with plenty of storage. The shower cubicle was a little small but this was a minor inconvenience. Our room overlooked the hotel pool rather than the sea but there was no noise even when there was dinner or entertainment by the pool. The location is excellent, only a few minutes walk from the main square, which is ideal for anyone taking the Curreri bus from Naples airport, and it was easy to get the train station, shops and restaurants. We did not have dinner in the hotel but the breakfast was of good quality. We would certainly consider staying there again.

loaction was great but for a 4 star hotel I think it is overrated. The room had no visitor information about the hotel amenities or Sorrento whatsoever. Usual European double bed of 2 singles pushed together which is not that comfortable. My stay was OK for what I needed but I guess I had higher expectations for this rated hotel.

I stayed at the carlton for 3 nights at the start of august. The hotel is in a prime location just around the corner from the piazza tasso, which is the main square.Rooms were spacious and spotless, maids came every day. Swimming pool shuts at 6pm and gets very busy so, if you want bed get out early. The pool shuts early as dining in the evening is outside.Breakfast superb, cereal, cold meat, cheese and the coffee is fine. The only down side really was the amount of noise the maids made at 7.30 in the morning right outside my door, so, if you want alie in request a higher floor!! But overall an excellent stay for the amount it cost and would definatley stay again.

We both had a really good holiday and the hotel was a part of that. We have recommended the Carlton International to a friends mum.
The only concern was that the your web site stated the hotel had a view of the Bay of Naples but our room looked onto the road, but I assume you pay an extra suppliment for the iew

The hotel is in a wonderful place, you are actually in the main square of Sorrento. Rooms are nice, clean, quite and modern and in the bathroom there's even the toothbrush!!!
The swimming pool is quite big, nice and clean and by night there's also music. Breakfast room is in front of the swimming pool, full of light and really nice. You can eat a lot of thing if you come from europe but for italian people there isn't much...for example no croissant filled with chocolate!!! The employees are very kind and helpful and they speak several languages. Sorrento is a wonderful place to stay and this hotel is really good.
