Good location for the major sites, both in the peninsular, Ortygia, and the main land. Also well located for restaurants and transport (bus and train station). Only downside was a noisy air conditioning unit on our balcony, servicing another room in the hotel

I chose this hotel because it was not too expensive. was close to the train station, ( this is because we are backpackers who usually walk rather than take taxis) and seemed to be close to Ortygia and the archaeological sights I wished to see in Siracusa. I found it to be clean and I found the service to be excellent. The hotel is located on a rather inauspicious residential, commercial street, so don't expect a great neighborhood. However, the interior of the hotel and the exterior of the hotel are very attractive and welcoming. I thought it provided good value for the money.

The hotel was as described, and the staff were helpful. What let it down was the ineffective air conditioning. We were visiting at a time when the daytime temp was in the high 30's. It was unbearably hot, making sleep almost impossible, the airconditioning just couldnt cope, and, as it is in the middle of town, it was too noisy with the windows open. You couldnt go out and leave the air conditioning on to cool the place while you went out as your room key is required to activate the electrics in the room. Location is good for seeing the sights, and the breakfast was ok. The views from the rooms wasnt that great, but you are in a town so thats to be expected!and you could see the sea which was a bonus. On the whole we would recommend this hotel, but not when the weather is hot!

Extremely friendly, english speaking staff. Charming hotel. Excellent location. View of disused railway track from the tiny balcony wasn't perfect but you could still sea the sea. And definitely the best, most varied breakfast we had in sicily.

A nice small hotel, ranking perhaps a bit lower than 3 stars, but the persons at the reception desk are nice and helpful. The hotel is well located between the station -where the bus stops too- and Ortygia. To be recommended.

I visited with my partner and her mother as part of a holiday and we had an excellent stay at the hotel. The access to upper floors is difficult for less able visitors and some rooms do not have a proper shower. The location is convenient and Siracusa is a lovely city.

Nice hotel quite central, 8 min walking from Ortigia Island. No lift so had to carry luggage upstairs otherwise fine. Staff extremely nice and helpful, asked where and what to eat and got cool places and excellent meals!! Parking on the street in front of the hotel, need to reserve it in advance to be sure. Overall good!

We had such a lovely stay! The hotel staff was more than accommodating and very nice as well. The breakfast nook was enchanting and I loved the view from my balcony. The room was spotless and smelled so clean every time we came back. It was also conveniently located within walking distance of great restaurants and sightseeing. I would definitely recommend staying there!

Bonus: Sauberkeit, mittlere Lage

This is a nice hotel with very nice employees, however, I traveled a month throughout Italy and found this hotels prices to be unreasonably high based on its location. I see no basis for this kind of pricing.Rooms of close to the same quality in close proximity of this hotel were approximately 1/3 the price of this hotel and they were very abundent upon arrival. I felt as if I was ripped off and still feel that way. I would never stay in this hotel again based on its price/location ratio.

We stayed in Mediterraneo for 1 night in late July 2005. The hotel is easy to find, and the parking right next to the hotel door is free.
Although the immediate vicinity of the hotel is not really attractive, the famous island of Ortigia is within walking distance. Another attraction - the Greek theater and archeological park - is also not far; we actually visited those before checking into the hotel and then drove to Mediterraneo.
The hotel has apparently been recently renovated, and everything inside looks new. The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet, with harbor view.
The breakfast was good. The hotel staff was very welcoming, cheerful, and helpful.
Overall, our stay was very pleasant. We regret that we stayed only 1 night. We would definitely stay at Mediterraneo again.

An excellent location--walking distance from train station, to ortygia as well as to syracuse (we never needed bus or taxi). Staff is very friendly and welcoming and rooms are large and quiet. Barking dogs in the neighborhood not their fault, but loud enough to interfere with sleeping.

Nice rooms. OK view of the bay. Within walking distance (less than a mile or two) of most tourist sites. In an "industrial-looking" area. Convenient to drive to, once you find the little street that it's on.

Hotel ist erst renoviert worden. Sehr schön eingerichtet.Personal sehr hilfsbereit, leckeres Frühstück.Umgebung erschreckend heruntergekommen!

The Mediterraneo is an excellent choice for exploring Ortygia--it's located just a few short blocks from the island and away from the crowds on the island. The room and the public areas were beautiful, a good breakfast was served and the staff was very helpful. Would love to stay there again.
