The Piccolo Palio is 15 minutes by foot from the Siena railway station. Nevertheless, you have to climb to the city... The friendly staff is very helpfull, even though the young lady had a flu! The hotel is not luxurious at all, as expected, but moore than enough value for money. The room was convenient and in good shape. Informations from the servicedesk were very helpfull. We would stay here again, for sure.

Bon hotel d'étape. Chambres confortables, certaines donnent sur la rue passante mais relativement calme. Petit déjeuner dans le bar en face, plutôt bien servi. Bon rapport qualité prix!

The only downer on this experience was the need for better drainage in the bathroom! Otherwise, it was perfect. The location is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It is an "old world" facility, but it was very clean, the bed was comfortable and it had a strong hot shower. The front desk was very helpful and considerate. The location was perfect right in the middle of Siena. It was close to the Campo, the Duomo, the bus station, the Fortezza, the Wednesday Market and all sorts of shopping. I had a single room and it was very small but adequate. It had a few flaws....the carpets were threadbare, the paint could have used a touch up, the shower drain was very slow and my room seem to magnify all the street noise. This was tough at 6:00 a.m. when the street cleaners came through. I enjoyed the complementary breakfast (cappucino/care late/tea, danish, yogurt, juice, biscotti) offered in the cafe across the plaza.

Very nice hotel, unfortunately I was in a small room! The hotel is in the best position to reach the train station by public transportation and within walking distance from everywhere else! Very good deal!

My 6 night stay was terrific. The only problems I had were the early room cleaning time, which isn't any earlier than any other hotel. I'm just a late sleeper. Also, the room I had was directly on the busy street, and the scooters passing by sounded like so many chainsaws. This was not a problem for me, as I could sleep through it, but my girlfriend wasn't too happy with it. Also, the shower was smaller than expected (being an American). That's obviously my fault though. Other than that, the hotel staff was courteous, the room was clean, the bathroom was adequate, and the room was just large enough for two humble travelers. If you're looking for more than a place to shower and spend the night, you might want to look elsewhere.

We were very disapointed! This was suposed to be a neat hotel an old monastary. The front desk is the same picture but they have a picture of were you eat breakfast. You don't eat there they send you across the street. We booked this hotel just for the look of the hotel and it was a complete disapointment! Also I notice the soaps and shampoos they gave us were from BEST WESTERN! ?

I had reserved two rooms, and got confirmation for both, but when we got to the hotel we were told that we had only one room. They said they never got notification of the second room. They did help us by finding another room in a different hotel, and adjusted the price so that our total was what it would have been for two rooms at the Piccolo Palio.

The location of this hotel is right at the end of the major shopping street. It is a bit of a walk away from the main square but it allows those staying there to escape the touristy areas and see other parts of Siena.

Location was good - stayed there twice on our trip. Some staff good, some with limited English. One of the beds was so concave that we had to stuff blankets under the mattress. One of the bathroom drains was clogged so bathroom flooded. One bathroom had no light - had to ask for light.

We booked for 2 nights over a weekend, but left after 1 night. The hotel is well located, but is shabby, with worn and dirty carpets. The room was small and unattractive. I do not know how the hotel compares with others in the area.

We had a problem when checking in. The room we were given was 1st floor behind the front desk, and in the bathroom the toilet was IN the shower stall. We complained and were moved the following day and our second room was a great improvement. The staff that met us on check-in was very ill-equipped. But the staff that came in later on our check in day were very courteous and helpful.

While the accommodations were acceptable; large room with very high ceilings and big bathroom, the level of noise was not. Street noise was very pronounced both nights we stayed in Sienna. The location of the hotel was good, except for trying to find it by the information provided on the web site. Once found, the location was good for seeing the sites of this ancient city. We were informed that parking was available at the hotel. This wasn't exactly the case. We were only allowed to park at the hotel to unload our luggage. Then we had to find a place outside of the city walls to park the car...which caused an inconvenience and concern because the car was not in a protected area. One point of interest others may find...there isn't a shower as we americans are used to. The entire bathroom is the shower. There is a shower head in the center of the bathroom, a floor drain underneath, and a curtain (which wasn't big enough). However, the experience was unique and acceptable. A little different than what we're used to but we got used to it. Overall, we liked the hotel and we'd recommend it to others. The location was good and even though the noise was a problem, we were too tired after each day of seeing the sites too really have it bother us to much.

We chose this hotel as it advertised having plenty of car parking in front of the hotel. However there was no parking only unloading area, the carpark was 10 mins. walk away and involved a charge per day. The rooms were dirty. Rubbish that was under the chair when we arrived was still there after 3 days. The breakfast was poor even by continental standards and was served in a room which was far too small for the amount of guests and this was at a time when the hotel was not full. This hotel was not as was advertised.

Though the public rooms were lovely and the staff were warm and welcoming, the noise level from the street (buses, cars, and motorbikes) made sleeping difficult. The beds were quite soft with permanent depresions in the middle. My husband woke up with sciatic pain in his back. the bathroom facilities in our room were tiny and we wondered how people of more substantial proportions could ever use the toilet or bidet.

When we arrived, the front desk person was talking on the phone (it appeared to be a personal call as at one point it looked like she's was going to cry). When we walked in, she put up her hand in the stop signal. We were unsure if this meant don't come in or don't talk to me until I'm off the phone. She continued to talk on the phone for 5 minutes while we stood there. Then once she got off the phone, she could barely speak english, so she was unable to tell us different things about the hotel. Overall, it was an ok accomodation. Kind of a dumpy hotel, and not in a great location.

Very noisy from the street - people late at night, buses, motorscooters, and very lumpy mattress. A pity, because the staff were very friendly and the building itself attractive. It rather spoiled Siena visit for us.

The only negativ thing we have to say about the place is that the bed was very soft, but it was the cheapes room we had in all of Italy, and the service, location, breakfast and the rest of the room we have no complains about, and we would go back.

After a not great stay in Rome, to arrive in Siena at Piccolo Palio was very comforting. The room was clean, fresh, and the staff attentive. We were only in Siena for one night, unfortunately, but the bed was soft, service exceptional, and after some trouble finding the place (probably more our own fault than anything), it was a very nice trip.

Great location--close to bus station and an easy walk to Il Campo and our favorite restaurant--La Mossa (traditional food of Siena) Breakfast was OK but not great. The bathrooms were nice, but the shower was unique. The shower curtain pulled around part of the bathroom but was not a separate enclosure. Therefore the bathroom floor got totally wet every time you took a shower. I would stay there again.

The Piccolo Palio is excellently situated for the heart of siena, with most locations being only a short walking distance away. The pictures represent an excellent likeness of what to expect. Considering the price, the quality of the hotel is fantastic. Cleanliness is of a very high standard in both the adequately sized rooms and public areas. Breakfast is basic but we were provided, amongst other items, with fresh bread, ham and salami which other slightly more expensive hotels in the area do not provide. Other hotels in the area also lock their doors at a certain time in the evening making late evening excursions restricting, the piccolo palio has a security code door operating after 10.30pm allowing access whatever time you wish to return. This is especially good if you want to visit the italian version of an english pub for a little taste of home whilst away, which is located directly opposite the hotel. On the negative side, the majority of staff speak italian obviously, french and very basic english. This did cause a few communication problems especially on our arrival date when we tried to ring them to let them know we would be arriving after reception closed and had to get our key. Luckily we found someone who could speak to them for us to arrange door keys etc, otherwise we would have spent the night sleeping outside. Safest bet is to check the box for late arrivals after 10.30pm when booking in case you dont make it there in time like us.

Our room was unattractive and badly decorated. It was cold (in February). The hotel certainly isn't "a stone's throw" from the town centre. It's a stiff walk. Parking was impossible, even in February.

Nice small hotel inside the townwalls and within walking distance from famous Siena's Campo. Its location and the lack of a large lounge make it quite fit for strolling throughout the historical town. The internal structure of the hotel discloses the origin of the building, but this only adds to it a touch of harmony with the surrounding town. One more good point is the easy access by car to the hotel, even though the parking place is not annexed to the building.

The property certainly didn't look anything like the pictures - we were expecting some kind of left over "monastic charm" at the very least. Location was quite convenient (accross from bus station to get back to train). Bed was very lumpy and uncomfortable with the springs poking through. Breakfast was mediocre, water for tea lukewarm. It was a relatively inexpensive hotel in a convenient location, but next time we will try another hotel.

The noise levels late at night were dreadful. No mention is made of the bus terminal outside the hotel or the fact that it is on a main road and junction of busy side road. Local youths gathered in the square each night and shouted at each other as well as the noise of their Vespas. Such a shame as the staff were good and the hotel clean and comfortable....if only we could have got some sleep!

My Before arrival i requested two single beds, on our arrival we were told they did not receive the request and were told it was not possible. We were told that there is a chair that can be made into a single bed - it was broken. We discovered that the double bed were two twin beds, they were just to lazy to seperate and we did it ourselves. When we told reception the next morning, it was just a shrug of shoulders. Also, the hype of being a monastary before is overrated - absolute no sign of that! Will not go back
