We had a wonderful stay at Il Giardino. The owners were so helpful on our arrival and really made our short stay a happy one. The hotel is very modern and well set out, perfectly located close to the city walls. Piazza del Campo is a 15 minute walk from the hotel through the beautiful streets of Siena.
The rooms are modern and very clean and well catered. We were allowed a late check out so we could make the most of the pool.

This hotel is not so difficult to find when one is driving. Just find Via Baldassari Peruzzi (on the signs: B.Peruzzi) which runs along and very close to the outside of the north-eastern part of the city wall. When you are at a sharp corner (nose) near the eastern most part turn away from the wall, there you have the hotel, 20 metres. Good private open air parking behind. From the hotel, about 10-15 minutes walk to Piazza Del Campo.
The hotel itself is a little bit impersonal, but keep in mind that it is a 2-star hotel, fully adequate as such.

The hotel is situated just outside the main city walls- it's about 3-5 minute walk along a busy road to get through the Porta Pispina and then another 10 minutes walk to the Piazza del Campo (up a gentle incline)- so it's a bit off the main tourist areas. Hotel staff very friendly and welcoming - couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely views from rooms and especially lovely view from breakfast room.

Lovely room with terrific view. Unfortunately tho, the hotel is located outside the city walls and even tho they say it's only a 10 min walk into the town, it's actually 20 - down the hill to the city gate, then back up the hill into town. Family-run, absolutely gorgeous people, very kind and helpful. One of the older members of staff was Il Duce for his Contrada in the Palio 20 or 30 yrs ago, so it's nice to have such a close connection to something that is so significant for the Sienese.

We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Il Giardino.
Nothing to say about our room. clean et convenient. The hotel location is very convenient according to the Siena City, but the surround was in working progress at that period.
Note that the swimming pool is opened to people external to the hotel, according to a fee, that makes a strong attendance during the week end.

Siena is beautiful and this is a great hotel to stay at. It is a little bit of a walk to the center of the city, maybe 15 min., but we thought it was well worth it. Clean, modern, excellent breakfast, with beautiful views of the city from both the rooms and the dining room. Staff is very friendly and speak english.

Hosts were very helpful, answering our many questions, providing maps and directions, recommendations of restaurants and sights. The room had a real shower, which was nice.
The directions from venere.com were of little use. We drove around about thirty minutes, before stopping to ask for directions. We should have communicated with the hotel directly for detailed directions.

The best hotel during our stay in Italy. Location was perfect. Very safe and just outside the city walls. A very easy walk.
Staff were excellent. Very welcoming and competent. They were most helpful and made our stay very enjoyable.
The room was very spacious and had a nice country view. From the restaurant is a great view of the city.

We found the staff at Il Giardino very helpful in finding our way around both in Sienna and the surrounding countryside. The hotel appears to have been recently renovated and the layout is a little odd. We were on the third floor and there was no lift to get luggage up.
It is a bit of a hike to the center of Sienna from the hotel (15 minutes at a brisk pace) however the real advantage is the availability of parking if you are planning to rent a car. This is probably as close as you can get to the town center if you are planning to drive. This is important, because having a car offers great opportunities for visits into the nearby Chianti wine country and to nearby hill towns.
I think the pool and grounds would make this a good place for families travelling with children.

The place is just ouside the walled city. It's a good distance to walk to the center but we did it. The surrounding area is safe and there's free parking for my car which is great. The receptionist was very helpfull and even help us with our luggage to the room. Will stay there again if I go back.

Very convenient location just outside the city gate. Free parking at the hotel and lovely clean, warm room. Breakfast was good with reasonable variety. The winter rates offered excellent value for the standard of room and location of hotel.

The staff was most helpful recommending excellent restaurants, and taking us to pick up a rented car, then having us follow back to the hotel, a courtesy beyond the call of duty.
The swimming pool would be most welcome in summertime, a refuge from the crowds and heat.
The bus is a short walk, then a fast ride to central Siena.

Il Giardino is a well situated hotel, particularly for those travelling by car, and has excellent facilities. The breakfast is above average for Italy, and with the quality of rooms and the pool facility the hotel is very good value. It is a bit of a walk into Siena centre, so those with mobility problems should beware, but with parking at a premium and car access limited in Siena it does have an advantage being directly outside the old walls.

The staff at the hotel were very helpful and enabled us to really enjoy Siena.... The children enjoyed the swimming pool. Breakfast was excellent and there were lovely views from the restaurant. The centre of Siena was just a short walk from the hotel and as we were there during the Palio this made things convenient as it was very busy.

The hotel was nice, especially the pool during the hot summer. It is walking distance into the walled part of Siena. The view of Siena from the hotel is wonderful.
Two main issues: I thought it was a little high priced for what it was & second, the breakfast is mediocre.

Very nice place - I would definitely stay there again if I return to Siena. I was a little disappointed that the pool and restaurant weren't open and there was no mention of how to access the hot tub or fitness facilities, but it's still off season so I wasn't too surprised.

Che bello! This hotel was absolutely beautiful. We stayed in a corner room on the first floor and our view of Siena was incredible. The room was perfectly lovely, large and clean, and we were greeted by name at the front desk and even on the TV. When my father-in-law went to seek out a bottle of water the night we arrived, he was given one free of charge. The breakfast was simple but plentiful. All in all a fantastic experience! GREAT deal for the price. The only CAUTIONS: this hotel is almost a kilometer from the city center and does not have a lift, so if you have difficulty walking, it is NOT a convenient location. Also, we had some trouble finding the hotel using the directions given (the FS station is hard to see at night from the side you will be on) - have a map on hand if you are driving.

This hotel was amazing! If you can get a room there for your stay in Siena, DO IT! We were only able to have 2 nights but we wished we could have stayed there for our whole stay.
The owner (I think it was the owner) picked us up from the train station at 11:15 at night. It was the nicest thing ever and avoided a taxi ride there.
He didn't speak much English which was our only problem with the place, but that is not something bad about them, it's something bad about us for not speaking Italian!
The breakfast was great! We were full for most of the day from it!
You get good quality for the price you pay, and it's not even a bad price!

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful--my friend had left her purse on the bus we took from Florence and they immediately got on the phone and tracked it down for her, then drove us to the bus depot to pick it up. They were extremely nice and went out of their way to help us on every occasion. The room was quite nice but overlooked the gravel parking lot which was a bit noisy, and the neighbor's dogs barked a lot, but otherwise the room was very comfortable and clean (good mattresses!). We ate dinner there one night and it was delicious, however the dining room was a little sterile. The view at breakfast from the dining room is absolutely gorgeous. It's a bit of a hike up to town, but it's pleasant enough to stroll up the hill each morning. All in all, a very nice spot although the building lacks ambiance (it kind of resembles a high school gymnasium).

In terms of location alone, this hotel is a winner. It is very, very convenient for Siena centre - only a 10 minute walk to Il Campo. It has a lovely setting, with fantastic views from the restaurant. The pool is a good size and there is a jacuzzi and small gym - though 5 euros a day to use the jacuzzi for 20 mins is a bit steep. The on-site parking is also a godsend, as Siena (like most of the cities in the region) is pedestrianised and parking can be a real nightmare. It was also very easy to reach by car (being off the main road that runs around Siena).
The only thing that really let the hotel down was the noise. We were in Room 17, which is set with one other room at the end of a short hallway. It is one of the old rooms, which is due to be renovated next year. It still had air conditioning, but the shower was a bit ancient. I don't know if it's any better in the modern rooms, but in Room 17 the walls were paper thin, with every little noise heard very loudly. The people in Room 18 constantly banged both their room door and the door at the end of the hall. We were also kept awake by them talking (at a normal volume) and engaging in nocturnal activities (ahem!) until the early hours of the morning. Then we were woken up in the morning by them discussing their plans for the day. The room above, we think, had a fold-out bed, which the occupants decided to put away at 07.30. In both instances, it felt like these people were in the room with us. Over the 5 nights we were there, the sleep deprivation caused by being disturbed so much started to catch up with us.
That said, if I was looking for a hotel in Siena centre again, I would definitely go back there, purely for it's convenience and friendliness. Next time I think I might ask for one of the modern rooms though.
The owner and staff(I think it is a family business)were always ready to help. We were not provided with any info about the facilities (breakfast and pool times etc) when we check

I think that Il Giardino has a superb reception, many great facilities, however i think that it would perhaps be more welcoming for guests if the pool area was only for the guests. Thankyou for a pleasant stay, we would reccomend it!

We thought the room was quite small compared to other places we stayed in Italy, the main reason for taking this hotel was because of the pool, but it was soooooo crowded my kids only went in for about a minute. very disppointing. also it was a health club by day and everyone there was about 22 years old, not so appropriate for a family with young children. Price was elevated we thought. thanks.

We loved our stay at Il Giardino. It is a lovely hotel nicely situated near the old city wall with great views of old Sienna to one side and a nice rolling Tuscan countryside on the other. The owners were very welcoming, which made our stay feel more like a visit to family rather than a stay at a hotel (andare il panterra!). We are already planning our next stay al Il Giardino which will be more than 2 days the next time!!

The location was perfect because we used a rental car and the property was outside the city walls (it takes a special permit to park within the walls.) Our room was quite nice and we were surprised to find a pool at the location. For some reason we had overlooked this in the description. The views during breakfast were fantastic. The restaurants suggested by the owners served very good meals. If I were returning to Sienna I would book a room at the B&B again.

This is a very good hotel, which is only a 10minute walk into the heart of siena. The hotel staff are friendly and efficient. We had a hire car and the hotel has free parking. The only downside to this hotel is that the walls are thin and therefore people in the next room can be heard. Otherwise, a nice hotel.

The hotel is excellently located for a visit to the medieval attractions of Siena. We had a very pleasant stay and the proprietors were friendly and helpful. Since our visit was short, we were not able to take advantage of the many facilities available. The only thing I didn't like was the coffee machine at breakfast time; I found the coffee undrinkable! The hotel was excellent value for money.
I would happily stay at Il Giardino again and will recommended it to my friends.

This hotel is a GREAT value for Siena. You are a stone's throw from the wall and a 5 minute walk from Il Campo. Location is key when staying in Siena because most other hotels in this price range are at the bottom of the hill, whereas Il Giardino was very nicely located. The staff was great and gave us a map and suggestions for activities and meals. Rooms were full featured and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. This was one of our best stays in Italy
