excellent location in Tuscany; easier to find when coming from Rome, but more difficult if coming from Siena; excellent free breakfast; tour groups stayed there as we met them at breakfast; staff at front desk were always available and helpful; free parking as a rental car is a must in order to stay there; good price for the room and services;

This hotel was like an oasis in the middle of the Tuscan hills. The rooms were big and clean, with modern conveniences. Prices were excellent. You definitely need a car though as there really isn't anything near this hotel. The rooms were incredibly noisy though as the doors are big and heavy and constantly being slammed up and down the hall. Tour groups show up late at night and it is incredibly annoying. The public computer use has no monitoring, first come first served. So for example if some inconsiderate German tourist wants to park her butt in front of it for several hours, the hotel will refuse to step in and assist the other guests who want to use it. The breakfast was really good with both hot and cold food. Also, the hotel was very easy to find using the website directions, and without GPS. I would probably stay right in Siena if I was in Tuscany to see it specifically, but if you want to just have a central location to see the whole area, this hotel is perfect for that.

Its easy to find but dont believe your sat nav or you might end up on a grey mountain as we did. Very nice modernistic hotel a few miles form Siena. Nice little extras like free snacks in reception in the evening. Good breakfast. A little noisy in the roadside rooms. Overall an excellent hotel doing nothing wrong and many things very well in a slightly remote location.

We travelled by car in the Chianti region and arrived at Montaperti late at night. Though it was hard to initially find parking (hotel was full that day), we were very delighted to be upgraded to the Junior Suite, which is very big and have a very chic living room. Too bad we stayed only for one night and had to leave early in the morning. The view of the vineyards and Siena from our suite was phenomenal as it gives our very first breathtaking experience of Tuscany morning. Overall, we were very happy with the Hotel due to the upgrade.

The only two things that let the hotel down were the surroundings (very small village with no bars or restaurants or any public area worth visiting by foot) and the bathroom was not as cleaned as the rest of the room, and the taps and handle for the shower cubicle were broken. Apart from that very good value for money.

We booked this accommodation only as a stop over in Siena. It was actually a fair distance from Siena but once we found this "hotel" (more like a resort), we were happy to hang around the bar and pool. It was a fantastic pit stop for us between Florence and Rome. We highly recommend this hotel if you want a place that has all of the mod-cons (including internet)and you just want to relax away from the crowds. The service was exceptional and the rooms were very modern and very, very clean.

Fantastic hotel for the price. Great shower, very clean, mattress quite hard.
Fantastic local restaurant reccommended by friendly staff. Was able to get dinner when we arrived at 11pm!
Used a sat-nav to find the hotel. Think it would have been very hard without one... Some better directions online might help.

This hotel was fantastic. The room looked as if it was out of an Ikea catalog...very strange, but VERY comfortable. It was also extremely cheap compared to other places we stayed during our 2 week trip. Nice infinity swimming pool out back as well. One thing to note...this place is NOT IN SIENA. It's in a town called Casetta. We got lost for 3 hours in Siena trying to find it, instead of being smart people and printing out the directions :-). One other downside was that the restaurant was a bit understaffed for a Friday night dinner.

Nice Hotel, well kept, good welcoming, very good restaurant. You need a car to be able to move , the Hotel is located in a small town like 15 minutes driving from Siena.
I will recommended to others, specially if you are travelling with kids.

Go to "del Pellegrino" in Calstenouvo Berardenga for a nice meal! Ten minutes by car.
The hotel was located a bit further away from Siena than we thought. To visit Siena, it may be a good idea to take the bus right outside the hotel.

This was a smart looking hotel but the stay was spoilt by staff who frankly wished that either they were not there or you were not there bothering them.
The room was really clean, the hotel facilities were good, but they just did not make you feel welcome.
The evening meal was not particularly good and the restaurant lacked character maybe because it was practically empty even at 20.45. If you are going to take your car into Siena then follow directions to the football stadium where we found that there was plenty of car parking. The main town is just a 10 minute walk.

Perfect location in the middle of Toscana. Good and confortable basis for tour to all directions with a good price and free internet access to discover the next targets. Only downer: The lack of nice tuscan trattorias in the direct surrounding within walking distance. But the osteria in the neighborship is ok for one visit and has nice staff.
All in all: High recommendation!

The hotel is very modern, great facilities but it is not in Siena, it is actually fairly far from town, in the middle of nowhere. The directions were terrible and even with a GPS, we had a hard time finding it. I loved the hotel, the staff was great but due to its location I would not recomend staying there.

Very modern hotel. Very clean room and great facilities. Excellent place to stay to relax and enjoy the beauty of Tuscany. Siena city centre is a 10-15 min bus ride but bus stop is right outside the hotel and buses come frequently. Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again and again and again!

Cannot verify the majority of the listed facilities, but both the restaurant and accommodation were well up to standard. Difficult to find and too out of the way unless you have private transport, but certainly a fine and relaxed location. Well sited as a base for exploring central and southern Tuscany.

Access to the hotel was almost impossible as there was no clear indication on the Venere map but at the hotel they wanted to give me a conference on how it is easy to get there.
Please you at Venere give reliable information on access.

This was my wives and my first time in Siena and Hotel Montaperti, we spent 2 nights and 3 days there. We stayed in the first part of August 2006 and it was 90-100 F everyday however the air-conditioning in the room was a relieve at night. This hotel is in the country and was a challenge for us to find because of us not knowing Italian, some road construction, and the way the area is laid out. The people at the front desk were very helpful, all their suggestions for places to eat where great. We did not eat at the restaurant in the hotel. Their breakfast had good variety and was fresh, their coffee was not up to Italian standards. Their bathrooms are showing some wear, however okay for the stay. Reservation and prices quoted by Venere were honored. We would stay at Hotel Montaperti again.

The hotel as such is great, but we had difficulty in finding it, for two reasons:
- it was not clearly indicated on tne internet that the hotel is 8 km outside Siena near the motorway exit Casseta
- there were badly sign-posted roadworks going on

Whilst a resonable distance from Siena this was a good hotel with helpful staff. The regular bus transport (circa 15-20 minutes) costs €1 and is an excellent way to travel in and out of Siena as parking can be expensive. The rooms at the hotel were adequate and good value for money.

very central to Siena & surrounding Tuscany region, ideal for wine tasting. The food & service was excellent in the hotel & excellent value for money, room was cleaned every morning & fresh towels provided. We stayed for 5 nights & had a very pleasant stay, highly recommended.
The interior of the hotel is lovely and within easy reach of the Tuscany Region.

We were four: 2 adults and our 2 daughters (14 ans 17) in 2 separate rooms.
As the hotel is not enormous, it is no problem not being close together.
The hotel is only 7/8 kms from Sienna and has a wonderful view on it.Of course you need a car, but as there are a lot of very nice places o visit around it is not a problem(San Gimignano, Monte Maggiore...). Here you really are inside beautiful Tuscany.
With a bike, if you like it, you can enjoy deeply.
On site, you have a restaurant, convenient but nothing genious. With your car, you will find around in a 10 km circle many others more typical.
Swimming-pool is covered and warmed: good. Sauna and jaccuzzi are also available and provide good relax.
Modern rooms and public areas, very handsome.
In a few words: nice stay in a place place.

We had such a great experience at Montaperti. The staff was great and very helpful. It was nice to be outside of Siena and take in the more rural surroundings. If you have a car, I would recommend Montaperti! The pool was perfect and the breakfast was delicious. We loved it and would go back again.

The Montaperti hotel is a nice, modern hotel with every comfort. It is clearly meant for tourists who like to travel around Siena.
The only disadvantage for us was the fact that the hotel is not so easy to find, even with maps and gps. Our (up to date) gps could not be programmed on the address, given by the website. We've met another Belgian family at the hotel and they told us the same.
Anyway, it was a pleasure for our family to stay at the Montaperti hotel and we would certainly go back if we would visit this part of Toscany again in the future!

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, though with a few minor reservations. The support staff was very helpful and nice, but they did not anticipate my personal needs, did not think about how they might make my stay more comfortable (eg., use of towels in swimming area, the policy on sauna reservations, etc.). Overall guests were either forced to ask questions that might have been covered in an introduction at reception, or discover for themselves through the literature in the room.
Secondly, I found the hotel a bit understaffed. No one was available to assist with baggage arriving and departing; no one showed guests to their room; hardly ever did I find the lounge bar staffed, forcing guests to wait or report this to the front desk that they wanted service.
The rooms were designed without consideration for guests wanting to store their belongings in a wardrobe (with drawers).
Finally, the breakfast was unsatisfactory, with only cold choices, synthetic orange juice, and sweet rolls. Even the muesli had chocolate in it. And the fruit was canned, except for some bananas and inedible apples. Health conscious guests found little to eat. Hardboiled eggs would have been a small concession.

My husband and I were traveling in Italy the middle of June and found Montaperti on the web before departing the USA. For a "box type" hotel, we were very pleased with the hotel; service was good and friendly and the room clean and well equipped for travelers. We especially appreciated the large fluffy towels.
We did have a bit of difficulty locating it, however, since the sign on the main road was different than that we had been told to look for. That is something that could be remedied easily in your information to those who have booked a room.
We thought the food better than average at breakfast and the selection was very good as well. We also enjoyed one meal in the main dining room where we found the service and food good though not exceptional.
For families with children, the pool is a real plus. And since the hotel is only about 1 hour from Florence (1 1/2 in traffic, perhaps), it is also a good choice for those vacationing in the area. Siena, Montereggoni, San Gimigniano and other interesting small Tuscan towns are also easily accessible.
