Hotel is located in a very quiet residential area, about 5km outside the city centre and area's of tourist interest. No restuarants nearby. A bus stop close to hotel but schedule limited, particularly in the evening. Well appointed public area's, including a good bar. Reception staff very helpful but breakfast staff less so. Appears popular with bus tours.
Our room was small, and the toilet/shower unit was tiny. If going back to Siena, we'd try to stay closer to city.

This is a very good hotel for staying outside the city center. One must take the local number 7 bus to the center but these buses run only til 830pm. Taxi's are few and far between but run most regularly from the train station. From the train station to Hotel Vico Alto the fare is around 10Euros, including tip. At first I thought the reception staff was not friendly but by my third day I felt differently. Alessandro, Rajeem (sorry if I completely got this incorrect), and especially Pia engaged in conversation each time I returned to the hotel from my adventures in and around Siena. Pia was exceptional, friendly, very patient and spoke the most perfect proper English ever heard outside the U.S.. The only problems, minor as they were, I felt were the archaic computer and uncooperative mouse at the hotel's little internet station, staff hot being able to make change from 20Euro bills, thin walls, and water damage on one wall of my tiny single room (room 204)with crooked spring mattress. I fell off the bed in the middle of the night but actually had a good laugh about it. The hotel restaurant was very good and I was grateful that the chef kept the kitchen open so I could eat dinner very late one night. My waiter Jeen, (Jin..once again don't know about the correct spelling) was friendly and pleasant to encounter at breakfast and dinner. I ate a dish of farfalle pasta with zucchini and saffron sauce..yummy.....also just a side of grilled vegetables with a house wine and bottle of water. Very reasonable price. Prices are set for the meal yet can flucuate depending on what courses you order and are added to your room bill. From the hotel reception one can sign up for various tours in and around Siena. I highly recommend the San Gimignano tour and the one hour City Bus tour. In the long run it would be easier if the hotel guests could book the tours themselves yet currently the staff must sign you up and take a small deposit; the remaining amount is paid before

We stayed four persones in a quadruple. The room was rather spacious and the balcony was huge. If you stay in a room on the third floor you will get a good view over Siena, but not from the first floor. There were noise from the cars on the road below the room but it didn't bother us that much. The beds were rather uncomfortable. The hotel standard is not the best. A 2 star rating is more correct, never 3 star. The breakfast was very disappointing. The plates and glasses in the breakfast room were not clean! But service and welcoming was ok and for the price payed, we really cannot complain too much. This is a decent budget alternative.

Hotel not situated in historic Siena, but in the seperate residential area of Vico Alto, 800 meters southwest from the train station (uphill)!!. There is a bus stop across from the hotel. Generous breakfast, accomodating staff, quiet neighborhood, good views of Siena. A little remote from the walled city, but being at the top of a hill, a feeling of spaciousness that we couldn't get in Siena.

It´s a normal Hotel, just 15-20 minutes away from Siena taking the public bus at the door (Be carefull with the returning times, there are just 3 buses from 9 p.m to 12 p.m.).
It´s located in a residential zone and it´s very quiet place, but maybe too quiet cause there´s no place to have dinner(just the hotel´s restaurant). Oh! and wake up early for breakfast, we get there at 9:00 and we only get some ham, cheese, bread and little more.

The Desk clerks were very welcoming and friendly. They were able to answer all of our
questions in a competent manner.
As other guests have noted, the Breakfast was \
probably the poorest choice of breakfast food - (no meat, no cheese - (only sweet rolls, cereal, and prepackaged toast) of all the hotels that we visited in Italy this trip.

Una mica car però és el preu d'Itàlia. L'hotel està apartat de Siena, millor si es va en cotxe. Molt recomanable la pizzera que està pujant el carrer a l'esquerra, a uns 300mts. Proveu els antipastos i en general tot!!!

Very spacious room (quadruple was actually 2 rooms, sharing a bath). Bath very small, but functional. Standard buffet breakfast, nothing fancy. Nice surroundings outside of Siena (need a car or have to take a bus). Found the hotel with GPS, not by using the directions on the website.

Hotel de très bon niveau, cependant popur le prix le petit déjeuner devrait être inclus.
En dehors de cela, l'hotel est un peu reculé de la ville mais très propre et la chambre était superbe.

We are a family of four and were able to have a quad room that was spacious and clean. The breakfast had a large selection to choose from. The location is outside the central core, but is easily accessible to the A1 highway. There is a bus to the city centre and parking available near the major attractions--a 10 minute walk. I would recommend the hotel.

First and foremost, book to eat lunch and/or dinner at the hotel and book early! It is really good home-cooking, and lots of it. It's like grandma's cooking except, it's grandpa! The price for it is also very good and economical. When inquiring directions, just ask which bus to take. Unless you are young and fit, don't attempt to walk there with luggage from the train station. The rooms are clean but the decor seemed bare and boring. Again, there is no TV but there is an elevator.

se siete da soli in viaggio per lavoro, non ve lo consiglio: è molto isolato, senza negozi o esercizi di alcun genere nei dintorni, non si può cenare la sera e per andare in città è necessaria la macchina

Really good value. Somewhat difficult to find.
Also, I must say, there's a great pizzeria
nearby; I had one of the best ever simple
buffalo mozzarella and cherry tomato pizzas
(they bring olive oil to douse those tomatoes).

Pleasant and very clean hotel. Fairly priced. Friendly and helpfull staff but they do not seem to know too much, probably caused by the limited knowledge of English. Information given about bus services was confusing, but one soon finds out. No bus tickets available from hotel or bus, buy them at the newsagent/tabac. Taxi to/from town ca. 7 euro. From the information given on internet it is difficult to find the hotel and to estimate the distances to town and other places: 15 min. walk to the medical university, 40 min. to the town centre.
Overall a place to be recommended.

I enjoyed my stay.Very quiet hotel because there weren't a lot of visitors. The busservice taking you to the city centre was very practical: don't forget to take a ticket at the hotel or in town before you take the bus!! and don't stay out too late because they stop running after 21.OO;For my next visit I'll go back to this hotel

The best things about the hotel are the very large, comfortable and clean rooms, and the staff who were very helpful and pleasant. Some spoke English and some did not, but they were all wonderful. We had a room for four people, and there was more than enough room with a beautiful view of Siena and a big balcony.
The breakfast was adequate. The location and the parking situation were the only problems we had. It is rather out of the way and we had a hard time finding it at first -- it's in a little village a few kilometers from Siena, although it's within view. The parking is on the street (and the sidewalk) in front of the hotel. It's not a busy street so it was OK, but we were a little surprised about that.
There is a large supermarket (called COOP) within 5 minutes driving distance -- we shopped there and had picnic meals in our room.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you have a car and don't mind exploring a little to find the hotel. If we go to Siena again we will probably pay a little more to stay in or very close to Siena.

Usually, when there's a lot to write, it's due to "complaining purposes"... Nevertheless, in this case, I'd have very much to write about my lovely stay, in Siena and in this hotel!!! Of course, I won't talk about the beautiful Siena, it's not necessary...
The hotel is very nice, it's not too far from the railway station and you can easily reach the centre of Siena by bus (and it's possible to buy bus tickets directly at the reception); also, into the range of 200 metres out of the hotel there are a newsagent's, a supermarket and a pizza restaurant. Nothing to say about the service inside the hotel: simply perfect.
I'm sure I'll come back there, and of course I recommend Hotel Vico Alto to everyone who plans to go to Siena.

People in the room next door were having sort of a party – wasn’t really that funny to me.
TV remote control was broken– even though it had been kept at the reception and handed over at arrival; i.e. it was handed over in this condition. What’s the point to do so?

I had a wonderful stay at Vico Alto! The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. While the hotel is a fair walk outside of town, it makes traveling with a car very easy with free parking! Two buses run from right outside the hotel into town in 5 minutes, making it very easy to reach Siena for sightseeing. The view is very nice and the hotel is quiet. Full service restaurant and bar make the fact that is is a residential area no problem. I'd happily stay there again!
