Neat establishment, topped by superb hospitality. Not close enough to walk to Sienna sites, but buses are ok until 10pm.
If I return to Sienna, I'll stay closer -- with 1 km walking distance from sites of interest -- not at the Arcobaleno. Had I a car during our stay my review would be better.

You have to stay at this hotel just for their in-house restaurant which has probably some of the best food in Italy. We were so impressed, we ate there both nights that we stayed there and enjoyed the food immensely. Although the hotel is outside of the walled city of Siena, it is only a 20 minute walk away, it has lovely views over the Tuscan hills and the staff are very friendly and helfpul (and multilingual).

Wonderful stay at this hotel - and the restaurant was great - we did not walk into historic center but other guests said it was a 20 min walk. Great location to visit other towns in Tuscany as well. Recommend this hotel highly.

We spent 8 nights with a rental car (thru Kenwell, highly recommended) touring Tuscany. Arcobaleno is ideally located for travelers with cars and even provides free parking. Although it's within level walking distance to the center of walled Siena, we always took the inexpensive and convenient bus -- about a 5 min. walk from the hotel.
The restaurant below the hotel's lobby was very good and reasonably priced; we found it convenient for many dinners after spending a full day exporing Tuscany's many charming villages and wineries. The breakfast buffet was of very high quality and much larger than most in Italy. The entire staff was friendly and very helpful.
Of the negative comments posted, we would agree with only two: (1)the odd shower is very small and a very large person might have difficulty, and (2) the hotel is not easy to find by following their instructions. However, you only need to find it once. And, we did not notice the vehicle noise from the busy streets adjacent to the hotel.
We would give our highest recommendations for the Arcobaleno for those using it as a home base to tour Tuscany by car. However, if we were only planning to visit Siena for a day or so, we would instead choose a B & B within the walled city.

The easy access to the bus stop, train station, and feeder roads to the Chianti region made this hotel's location excellent. The restuarants food was delicious and inexpensive. The hotel day manager, Lucca, was friendly, helpful, by far the nicest we had in 4 cities. He made this hotel stay our favorite.

Would recommend this property as a good value. Not easy to find, as the viamichelin directions are not always perfect. A good base for daytrips. Good restaurants nearby(heading away from Siena on the left is an"pizza" place that has excellent pizza and pasta, meats etc.). The bus stop is a short walk down the street, and the service is regular.

This hotel is small and charming....very convenient to the train station. To walk to the historic city takes about 10-15 minutes. It is on a busy street but the room was fairly quiet. The staff was very nice & couldn't be more helpful. There is an excellent restaurant downstairs where we had a great dinner our first night in town. The shower stall was one of the smallest we encountered on our trip but had good water pressure. We enjoyed this hotel because it was cozy. The public areas are very comfty and enjoyable. Breakfast was good (typical) but they will make you a cappuccino to order!

Siena is a beautiful place!!! You will not realize its beauty until you walk up the hill to the old city. Explore, explore, explore. We walked every where we went in Siena and I mean we walked every where. Siena is a must see in Italy.
Arcobaleno is about a 15 minute walk to the beautiful city. It is about a 10 minute walk from the train/bus station. You will notice a sign outside the station,to your right, go to your right. You will walk up the street and come to a major intersection, cross the intersection and continue straight up the street. Do not turn. Keep going!! The hotel is on the left side of the street, so, you have to cross the street then go up some stairs, go right, around a corner, and you will find the entrance.

Very friendly employees, room could be a little larger, ist was the only hotel we stayed where we got hot water for shower every morning :-)) It is a little bit out of the inner city, you always have to take the bus or walk at least 30 minutes to come downtown. Breakfast very "italian"( only sweet things and cereals )

L'hôtel n'est pas dans le coeur de Sienne et c'est ce que nous recherchions.Comme le parking était compris dans le prix de la chambre,on laissait la voiture au parking et allions au coeur de Sienne en autobus.Le personnel était très attentionné.

Clean, beautifully decorated, spacious, good parking extremely friendly staff, outstanding buffet breakfast in lovely glassed in porch. Convenient attached resturant was good. Five minute walk to bus stop made Siena access easy. (buy tickets at the fruit market across from bus stop). Disclosure: hotel is located between two busy roads that can make it initially difficult to find and access . However, once located access and parking were easy. (We parked in the large resturant lot below.) This was our first time driving in Italy. We used our Garmin GPS with Europe card. This made driving fun and easy.
We would definately stay at this hotel again.

The staff was so very helpful. The meals at the restaurant at the hotel were great and the wait staff very accomodating. We walked into Siena each day...about 15 minutes to the walls of the city and another 10 minutes to the main square. An easy walk and good exercise. We are seniors and had no trouble.

We stayed at the Arcobaleno for one night which was quite enough! we had booked for three, but left early due to the fact outside our dull and dreary room (which was on a busy main road) a manhole cover clanked all night!! The instructions to find the hotel where so poor it took us 2 hours to find. The price of the hotel was very expensive for the services provided, this is one place we will not be visiting again

We were very pleased with our stay at Hotel Arcobaleno. The hotel was actually much closer to the old city than I had anticipated. The staff was welcoming and helpful in giving directions, helping with tours, and recommending restaurants. A plus was the restaurant located on the hotel's property; it was obviously a local favorite, and the food was quite good and reasonable for Siena. Our only negative would be the shower--it was very small; a large man would have trouble negotiating it.

Clean, modern, with very helpful English speaking staff. A great restaurant downstairs with better prices than you would find in town. It is 2.5 Km. from the town, which can be easily reached by bus #11 or bus #4 to the train station.
Excellent breakfast for Italy.
The walls are paper thin. My wife was kept up all night by the guy in the next room snoring loudly. You can hear "everything".

Our stay at Arcobaleno was most memorable. The staff was friendly, courteous, helpful and spoke English better than expected. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again. It was very clean, breakfast was continental with variety, and in a quiet location. Also the restaurant below the hotel was one of the best we ate at in Italy. ++++ This hotel is worth checking out.

The only bad thing I can think of about this hotel is that it is very hard to locate. We gave up in the end, parked and walked to where it was. We stayed for 6 nights from Jun 13 07 and had a wonderful time. The staff were extremely helpful and they enabled us to visit places we would never even have known about otherwise.
The restaurant which is on the same site, but I don't know if they own it, was very good. The food was excellent and the menu comprehensive. The waiters could be a little non communicative though.
I would agree with some other comments re the size of the shower - not for the larger person.
This is a place I would definitely stay again.

What a great hotel. The girl at the desk was super helpful with making dinner reservations and directing us to a local public pool. Room was great. Only problem was that onsite parking for car was kind of cramped. We took the bus to downtown as it is quite a distance to walk from here, but this was easy.

Arcobaleno is a nice property located away from both the historic center as well as the business center. There is some traffic noise as the hotel is situated in a "triangle" between 2 busy streets - but the noise was not really a bother. Contrary to other reviews, we did not have much trouble finding Arcobaleno as we entered Sienna from the north (Firenze) direction. From the south is another story as we found Siena in general a very confusing city in which to drive.
The front desk staff was extremely helpful with dinner recommendations and advice on where to visit and when. The common areas were wonderful with a comfortable gathering lobby, screened porch breakfast area, and a very good and brightly lit restaurant on the lower level. There was also a large table with umbrella in the front courtyard - a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine at days end. The restaurant was a godsend as we dined there 2 of our 3 nights in Siena and didn't have to venture back into the city to try to find an eating establishment.
Our room as on the small side, bathroom as well, but that seemed to be true of many of the hotels we visited. All in all, we found Arcobaleno a great find for the money.

The Arcobaleno was all that we hoped it would be. It is small and friendly with helpful staff. We were in the main building and the room and bathroom though not large were perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean. It is a 20 minute level walk to the gates of Siena. We can recommend the restaurant under the hotel.

We had a hard time finding the hotel with the directions that we had. The only thing that saved us was I remembered the picture that showed the parking lot. I thought it would have been in a more rural area. The bus stop was close to get into the main area of Siena and there was ample parking in the back. The parking in the front of the hotel was a little tight. If the parking lot was full you would get in there (behind another building) and have to try and back out onto a fairly busy street.

I would recommend this hotel on the merits of the helpful staff, the location, and the comfort level that they provide. I must admit that when I arrived in Siena, I was unfortunately ill. I have never seen a staff go out of their way as much as this one did to try to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They helped in every way imaginable, and went above and beyond their duty helping me get better, and feel better.

Great hotel in great location (although not within walking distance of any major attractions). Wireless internet requires paying by the hour. Cappucino is free 24/7 and very tasty. Good parking, rooms are comfortable although a little noisy because noise filters upstairs from reception and the restaurant. We stayed two nights and had no complaints. I would recommend.

Our family enjoyed a delicious dinner at Hotel Arcobaleno. The front desk lady was very welcoming and extremely helpful with directions and suggestions for our drive back to Bologna. We wished for better directions to the hotel; a more detailed map would be helpful.

One of the nicest hotels in all of Italy. Hotel had outstanding front end staff, always friendly and willing to help. A 30 minute walk to the centre of Sienna and 5 minute bus ride away. Yummy breakfast! THis was the first time at Hotel Arcobaleno and it was wonderful. I think the hotel was newly renovated and lovely decor.

The staff was friendly, the room very clean and comfortable (not luxurious but very decent by any mean). While a little noisy in daytime (well, what do you expect from a city hotel...) it quieted down nicely at night and was perfect. Breakfast is buffet style (all you can eat) with a rather good selection for a European breakfast. Good coffee served by amicable and smiling staff. Nice complimentary lounge if you wan a drink before supper. The hotel, while approximately one km from the walled town, is actually very nicely located if you use it as a base to travel in the nearby Chianti, Le Crete, etc. by car. You can also take the bus (which runs approx. 10-12x a day) 200m away to Florence for 6.5E. (which saves you the aggravation of parking in Florence...). And there is a nice, rather inexpensive restaurant(for Italy)in the basement which serves great food (mostly...:)).
All in all, we loved it and would recommend it and return if we ever need a room in Siena again. Oh, as a side note...we stayed for 10 nights...so we had plenty of time to make our judgement...and I forgot...they got a private parking! which means peace of mind for your rental...:)

This is a great place to stay in Sienna. We stayed 2 nights. The directions to get there on Venere could be a bit better though. Luca, the manager, was extremely welcoming and helpful - pointing out good places to eat in the town, and even reserving a table for us! He also showed us some great places to visit on our onward journey. The room was as good as anything we have stayed in in Italy. The only minor gripe was that the shower was quite small and you had to be careful not to slip. One major plus is the restaurant downstairs. We had our best meal of the week in there. Highly recommended. We'll be back! Thank you Lucca.

This was hotel was by far the best we stayed in during our entire trip! Luca was such as pleasure to deal with. Before we could even ask he had maps out and was telling how to get to the main part of the city as well as things that were a must see. He also recommended a GREAT resteraunt for us that was amazing.
The hotel was clean and our room was very spacious. The breakfast in the morning was very good and had a decent variety. We took a taxi from the train station, only 7 euro - it was worth it with luggage. Other than that the walk to the main part of the city was very easy and safe. Our only regret was that we stayed there only one night!
Many thanks again to Luca for his wonderful hospitality!!

We stayed 4 nights at this hotel and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Room was very clean and well presented. The plus points were the availability of parking and the ease of getting onto the main roads in and out of Siena. The only drawbacks were the distance from Siena town centre (20 to 30 minutes walking) and as the hotel is sandwiched between two main roads, the traffic noise (with the windows open) and the fact the bathroom had mould on the ceiling.
