As a family of 4, 2 adults & 2 teenagers (14yrs,16yrs) we occupied 2 rooms in January 2008. The rooms were clean & modern, and adequately sized, the bathrooms good size with shower onto bathroom floor with a curtain to pull around. We caught a taxi to the hotel from the station as walking with suitcases uphill would have been an arduos task. The hotel was only 5 minutes away but uphill. The old part of the city was within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, ever ready to give assistance or information when needed, particularly the young lady. There was a small lift which was handy for large suitcases, though we could only fit 1-2 persons at a time. We however expected this so it was not a problem. Our room was above a fairly busy road, so a little noisy in the morning. The view over the country side was very pretty. The European breakfasts were very good with varied choice. On our departure to Florence we lugged our bags to the main bus-stop when in actual fact we could have caught the bus not far from the hotel-if we had been more certain of the language, bus number & timetable this would have been a lot easier.Overall we enjoyed our stay in Siena @ Hotel Italia despite the rain

Very good value. Spacious single room, clean and well provided.
Service desk was helpful.
Morning breakfast offers great variety, including fresh coffees.
The walk from the train station is doable, but uphill...hotel is convenient walk to center of Siena.

Our first trip to Siena, which was fabulous. Our hotel was a bit far from the walled city, but we knew that in advance. I think we will stay closer the next time. Over all the hotel was ok, I would say the plus was the breakfast. Much variety. The public area was messy but clean.

Best sleep I had in Italy. Very nice hotel about 10 min walk from the tourist attractions. Nice staff, varied breakfast spread, quiet area, safe area at night. No complaints; would stay there again in a minute.

I stayed in the Hotel Italia with my girlfriend for one night only in September of 2006. We have no complaints for the hotel and some aspects of it were better than we expected.
The hotel is a short distance away from the train station, we were able to walk there even though we arrived at night. It's about a 20-minute walk, in a bit of an uphill, but we didn't have much luggage (just two backpacks with wheels), and we like walking, so it was no problem for us.
Once there, the room was very large and the bathroom seemed to be brand new, the best bathroom we saw in our two-week tour of Italy.
Although the hotel is outside of the city walls, it's only a couple of blocks to the nearest gate, so it proved to be a good spot to be while visiting the city as well.
Breakfast was way above average, one of the best we had in our trip with several selections of cheeses, cold cuts, breads, juices, etc.
I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Siena.

Hotel trés confortable.Difficile de se garer si le parking de l'hotel est complet.Accueil un peu froid, mais le consierge parle français.Assez éloigné du centre ville, compter 30 mn de marche pour atteindre la place du Campo.

The guy at the front desk was really rude. When we arrived, we had no where to park, as indicated on the web info. He was very unhelpful saying "We are full" offering no advice on where to park or how to get our luggage into the room. Our TV was broken and he basically told my husband that he was bothering him when he asked him about getting it fixed or replacing it with another.
Also, we needed to move our stay around and the property was unwilling to help us adjust our reservation as it was after our online booking cancelation date (but a few days before our orginial stay). They lady on the phone was nice, spoke english, but told me that she would charge my credit card the full amount if we didn't show up. We were on a budget, so we had to make it work for that night instead of being flexible with us.
The property was very nice. Walking distance to all the major Siena sites. Aside from the rude person at the counter and their inability to work with us on our reservation, it was a nice place and a good location. Breakfast included in the price was great.

Our room was incredibly large, comfortable, and with many ammenities. The rooms were clean and well worth the price. The staff weren't all completely helpful. Most spoke English, but one man did not very well and was also fairly rude. A woman working, named Sonya, was incredibly helpful and helped us figure out our train schedule. The location was just outside hte city walls, which was just fine. It really was not very far (5 minutes walk), and after being there, I would prefer to stay just outside the walls anyway. The only problems were when arriving by train, the taxis at the train station were virtually non-existent. We waited for an hour with many other travelers before the first taxi arrived. The directions to the Italia say that the hotel is only 400 meters from the train station, THAT IS COMPLETELY WRONG!!! We thought at first that we could walk, but it would have been at least a 20-30 minute walk all uphill. If arriving by train, make better arrangements and don't think you're going to get a taxi in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, the Hotel Italia was wonderful and easy to stay at without a car.

We were lucky because we received a suite instead of a normal room. The suite was of course really nice, with air conditioning (following the hotel brochure, many rooms have now air conditioning), TV, fridge, safe, very clean and nice bathroom.
However, really ask for a room at the back, because the noise of cars passing in the street is really disturbing. Also, there are no closed doors between main reception and the corridors. From our room at the second floor, we could hear all the conversations at the reception desk, not so great for an afternoon nap.
About surroundings, I knew that 15min walk was necessary to get to the center. After 200m, you enter the old city's walls so the walk there is quite nice. but after a while and a few go-return walks it's a bit tiring, even for not so old people (27 years old:)
About parking, there is one but REALLY SMALL and in narrow walls, we were lucky to arrive at 12:00 and found one space left. However, on the street at the back you can find some spots. If you want to park closer to the city, try to go behind the stadium, there are some free parkings along the street.

très bel hôtel, très facile à trouver; seul petit point noir : le parking est très petit, mais on peut se garer facilement à l'extérieur. Le centre est à 15 minutes à pied et c'est un régal! Le buffet du petit déjeuner est magnifique. A recommander!

Great location. Easy to get to by taxi from train station. You can walk, but it is a twenty minute walk uphill. Hotel was very clean and quiet. A five nice five minute walk from historic center. Rooms were large and nicely decorated. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful desk personel. Great value. Will return.

Okay hotel, not far from the historic city centre of Sienna. The receptionist seemed reluctant to smile or give any extra, but did his job to a minimum. Nice bathroom, very continental breakfast. Would find something else next time, though, I want more for 150 euro a night.

Hotel has rooms available right next to main hotel, villa type, very spatious and quiet. Very friendly, multilingual and helpful staff. Coveniently located next to one of entrance doors of old city. Many services nearby. Free parking nearby is travelling by car. Close to Siena's city centre, 15 minutes walking distance. Hotel is conveniently located and easy to get to. We Strongly recommed it. Very pleasant stay.

The distance between the train station and the hotel seems insignificant from the map, but the terrain makes the cab ride well worth it, especially at night. Service was not exactly friendly, but managable. The room was one of the biggest we saw. The bathroom was also very spacious. Great room, average hotel.

This is a very conveniently located, reasonably priced hotel, just a five to ten minute walk from the city gate and near a terrific trattoria/pizzeria (on the same side of the street as the hotel, three or four minutes walk toward the gate). The hotel offers an excellent, quite lavish breakfast, and spacious, comfortable, clean rooms. It's a fairly new building, without much Old World charm, but very pleasant. Our only criticism would be that the walls are really thin. You hear water running, and you hear guests in the hall as if they were in your room. Fortunately, there were very few incidents like that and none that disturbed us (the place was silent at night, though we might have been lucky in facing the back--hotel is on a main street). Limited parking at the hotel, but plenty on the street behind it (just be sure to ask about street cleaning days). Overall we thought it a great deal.

We stayed at Hotel Italia and were very happy with the rooms and the staff. Everything was very clean. The rooms were a bit smaller than others we stayed in. They offered a very nice complimentary breakfast in the morning. The hotel was probably a 10-15 minutes walk from downtown Siena were the duomo and other sites are- but not a bad walk. Our only complaint was the noise in the corridors. They were hosting a high school trip and the children were running around the halls and yelling. The noise made it difficult to fall asleep and woke us up in the morning.

I booked Hotel Italia particularly for its internet availability but it was 'out' the whole week. While some of the reception staff were lovely one or two espedially in the evenings were very unhelpful. The lady in the breakfast room was lovely. My bill was more than quoted -rate wise- but as it was a difficult to communicate person on the desk I didn't persue it. Too tired & it wasn't so much. We were delayed a day & when I informed the hotel they were most helpful. The triple room was an excellent size & cleaning first class. There was no help with our bags up a steep flight of stairs & parking is VERY limited.

This was well located between the station and central area of Siena. An easy walk everywhere as long as you don't take the wrong road - stay on top of the ridge as Siena.
We arrived on an Italian public holiday weekend which was great except we had trouble getting into a restaurant to eat and the hotel had no restaurant and was quite unhelpful about this. In fact we found the front desk most unhelpful generally. Apart from this it was clean and freshly decorated and offered a fabulous breakfast.

Outside the main centre of Siena, but far enough away from the train that you have to catch a taxi. the room was lovely, internet was quite expensive, if I went back to Siena (WHICH i WOULD DEFINATELY DO)I would stay in the old part of town. Apart from a lack of information about a bus, the staff were ok.

I initially had a problem with the hotel concerning its location, but it was all clarified later by one of the the staff members and proven to be a misunderstanding/representation of the map on my side.
Following these lines, the hotel is not the best location in Sienna. Yes, HISTORICAL Sienna is a very small town and you can walk everywhere, but Hotel Italia is off the wall that separates the city of Sienna and the historical part of it. I was a little disappointed with the location.
However, what was most disappointing was the staff. 2 out of 3 people I spoke to at the hotel were not sympathetic and this is not what you want to have while you are traveling.
Otherwise, the hotel is clean and has nice rooms. I cannot be precise on evaluating the price since I did not perform a thorough research before going to Sienna.

After traveling from US to Siena, it was refreshing to find our hotel, and work on getting over our jet lag. The staff were most accomodating and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It's not fancy but it's clean. Try to get a room that's not on the street side of the building!

This hotel was a bit disappointing. Firstly, the room that was assigned to us stank of cigarettes, secondly, it was located 'outside' the hotel right next to a very busy street. We requested a change of room but were told that they had a big group booking so could not change our room. Upon creating a fuss, we were assigned to a different, smaller, somewhat basic room. The location is not handy (about 1.5 kms from Siena City Centre) and about a 1 km from the train station. There are very limited parking spots in the hotel car park, we had some difficulty finding a parking on the street at night. The only good thing about our stay was the fabulous and generous breakfast spread (best breakfast we've had in a hotel in Italy) and the staff there were very
friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They make nice cafe lattes too! Stay there in off-peak season and you may get a nicer room inside the main hotel building, away from the street noise or request a quieter/non-smoking room when booking.

We arrived at Siena by car, and we found the hotel by luck - we cold not find a map available, so we kept driving, and there was Hotel Italia! The recepcionist was great. We made the reservation only one day before. When we arrived I asked if it was a quiet room, and she changed our room to a quieter one - really clean, amazing space, well decorated. She gave us the directions to get to the center (it's close to the hotel). We parked our car with no charge. The only changing could be Internet Point - 5 euros/hour - really expensive! But we recommend and would stay there again.

This hotel was advertised as having private parking and for this reason alone we decided to book the Hotel Italia. Upon arrival, we found they have 6 to 8 parking spots for the 66 rooms. This is false advertising and needs to be changed. My husband is a disabled veteran and trying to find a parking spot near the hotel was difficult. The breakfast was the best part of our stay.
