Siena appears not to have any excellent hotels inside the city walls. If I recall, we hoped for a four star but had to settle for a three star, and the one that sounded most appealing was already booked when we tried to get a triple. This is the second unmemorable place we have tried in Siena. Nothing wrong with it: just nothing special.

Fantastic view from our room (we requested room with a view which was at the rear of the hotel). Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Taxi to train station is approx 12 Euros but worth it as Siena is quite a hilly town and the bus system is not straight forward! Hotel is 5 min walk to main piazza.

The staff members were polite, welcoming, responsive and helpful. The beds were comfortable, the shower was really great, and the room size was smaller than ideal but typical for Europe. The location is absolutely great; we could comb everything in the city easily. The accommodations the hotel made with the public parking was primo. Grazie Mille

This is a well maintained hotel in a good location - only 5 minutes walk from the Campo. Some of the staff were friendlier than others but all were professional and helpful. As requested in our reservation our room overlooked the Duomo. Our room and bathroom were huge. Breakfast was typical for this type of hotel - nothing special. For a slight inconvenience go to a cafe for breakfast.

This was our first stay at the Duomo, and our first visit to Sienna. We thought it was difficult to find (we had a rental car) and probably spent 45 minutes or more, confused about this when we came into the city.
Upon our arrival at the hotel, the front desk clerk was not so much welcoming as matter-of-fact and hurried in giving instructions. He conveyed indifference to the arrival of yet another tourist couple. Unlike other places and hotels where we stayed, the staff expressed little interest in us, and offered no spontaneous comments or conversation.
Parking is free, but it is located several blocks from the hotel; we thought the staff seemed impatient about explaining how to get there, how to get parking documents, etc. Persons with disabilities or limited physical capacity for walking would want to be aware of this and perhaps make special arrangements.
The room (#62 with a nice view of the Duomo and a garden beneath) was pleasant and clean, but nothing unusually nice, certainly, for the amount we paid for a night's stay.
There is little or no common area in the hotel. The breakfast is in a quiet, basement level room, which was pleasant--and the food was good and sufficient.
On balance, we would encourage travelers to consider other accommodations if they want anything more colorful, or hospitable than a predictably "institutional" stay.

I stayed in two different rooms at Hotel Duomo, and both of them had TERRIBLE showers. I'm not a picky shower person, but these were un-usable. The water would jump from freezing cold to scalding hot without warning. I honestly was worried I would get burned. While other characteristics of the hotel are fine, I would definately not return there because you simply cannot shower.

This is a lovely old building in the heart of Siena. We had a quad room on the top floor which was very spacious with 2 walls of windows overlooking Siena and surrrounding countryside. The elevator only went to the 2nd floor.

For the money, this is a great located hotel. Just a few minutes to both the Duomo and the Piazza del Campo. Room was clean and nice, nothing over the top, it could've used some color and artwork, but it was quiet, comfortable and a great base to visit the city. Parking was included and the garage was only a 8 minute walk away, very convenient for a hotel in the centro. We had a top floor room overlooking a small garden in the back and a very nice view of the duomo. Not the fanciest hotel, but for the money it was very worthwhile.

Stayed three days and would return in a heartbeat. The view is mesmerizing. The people were extremely helpful with everything we needed - restaurants, cabs, train information, even a little Italian lesson. Could not have been happier.

This hotel is undergoing partial renovation, however, it did not bother us. For the price we paid (Euro 100 per night), they offered us a very large room (which can easily accomdate four people!!) with also very large bathroom, and they were clean and very quiet, while we simply requested a room with two beds. For us we definitely got a nice deal. Having said that, I do not have any idea what their 'normal' twin rooms would look like in terms of spaciousness, so my rating may not be regarded as a regular benchmark.

Hotel Duomo is very conveniently situated in the historic center of Siena. Our room was large with an ample bathroom w/o tub or handshower. The spaces are utilitarian, but with little charm and threadbare carpets in the halls. The breakfast room is adequate, but below ground level, so short on ambience & natural light. The included breakfasts were adequate but unvarying. Next time in Siena, we will search out a place with more charm, several are present in the immediate neighborhood.

This hotel is in an unbeatable location. Our room had breathtaking views. The rooms were very clean, except the bathrooms had a musty odor. The breakfast was one of the best we've had in Italy. We would stay here again and think it is a great value.

The location is very convenient, and overall the Duomo is a good value. Bathroom facilities are not up to 3-star standards outside Italy. Driving instructions are OK for arrival by taxi, but inadequate for driving there yourself (you end up a half a block from the hotel with the street one-way toward you, so you have to work yourself around to the other end through very narrow streets).

Our stay at the Duomo Hotel was delightful. The room was large and very clean, service friendly and location excellent. The only problem was finding it when we arrived in Siena since the signage and map were not very helpful in guiding us to the hotel or to the parking garage.

I emailed this hotel as I was concerned about parking the car and had a prompt reply which explained all I needed to know. On arrival I was given a map and very good instructions to find the public car park at which this hotel has an arrangement to pay the parking charge. The whole procedure went smoothly and was pleased with the overall service.

Excellent location. The balcony looked accross the ravine, over gardens and greenery, at the Duomo. Delightful view. Only drawback was the loud singing on the other side of the ravine lasting until the wee small hours--but it also added to the charm. Room was adequate size. Bathroom was cramped, but served the purpose. Good value and excellent location. We'd stay at here again if we return to Siena.

We requested a room with a balcony and a shower. The room with the balcony was provided and the view was excellent. However, for the price of the room, we did expect a proper shower. In this case, it was a shower head, curtain and drain in the middle of the floor.

This hotel is located near the Duomo (about 3 blocks for lack of a better way to describe) and is convenient to all the sights. The physical layout is interesting and unusual. To reach our room, we could take the lift up one floor and walk down two flights on stairs or we could walk up two flights of stairs from the ground floor so I guess we were on floor 1/2. The rooms were spacious and clean with a full bathroom although not always a great view if you are in the back of the hotel.. Staff speaks limited English but was always friendly and helpful - even managed to get some ice!. I would recommend the hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again.

We were very happy with the hotel, its staff, and our room. Room was quiet, clean, and nicely decorated, bath was clean and well maintained, and we loved our window view over medieval rooftops to the distant countryside. Hotel location is good. Neighborhood is quiet.

The Hotel Duomo in Siena is in an excellent location. Our room with a "panoramic" view of the Duomo was spacious, had great light, a nice small balcony, and was comfortable. The only drawback was the bathroom. It was "tired," and the wrap-around-curtain-drain-in-the-floor was extremely awkward and messy - not what we usually see in 3 star hotels. The hotel would do well to throw out much of the stuff (telephone books etc)that clutters the reception area. It should also get rid of the ridiculous signs such as "It is strictly forbidden to throw objects from the balcony."

Pretty nice place to stay, very close to the heart of Siena but not noisy. Room clean and spacious enough, bathroom small and crowded but clean. Carpets in public areas grubby - more effort could be taken to improve this. Great view from room (ask for a panorama room when booking). Unlike most Italian hotels we've stayed in, we'd be happy to stay here again.

This is an old and somewhat eccentric hotel in the centre of Siena. The location is excellent as it is a five-minute walk from the Duomo and central to everything in the ancient part of the city. Our room was clean and had a stunning view overlooking the beautiful hills of Siena. The bathroom and specifically, the shower, could have used some updating. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. The breakfast was outstanding. If we were to return to Siena we'd definitely stay here again.

In splendida posizione nel centro di Siena, camere confortevoli ad un prezzo giusto (molto più basso del listino!), servizio e cortesia impeccabili.
In a wonderful position in the centre of Siena, we enjoyed confortable rooms at a correct price (much lower than the official one!), service and disponibility of the personnel were perfect.

This hotel is wonderfully located for touring the old city of Siena. BUT though we had thought about staying 2 nights before we arrived, we checked out after 1 because the hotel wasn't clean, particularly the carpet. The hallway carpet was worn and filthy. Note that our room had no view (none of the triples or quads does according to the front desk).

Nice hotel, very helpful, multilingual staff. I was not a fan at all of the shower provided in the bathroom, which was merely a hole in the ground with a surrounding curtain practically located on top of the toilet. Very cramped bathroom, I believe there are better places to stay in the area, however, this hotel was not a terrible choice on such last minute notice.

This is a bare-bones facility. It is definitely the worst 3-star hotel we've stayed in. That being said, it was clean and the rooms fairly spacious, but the bathroom was in awful condition. We have gotten much more for our money at other hotels.

We had a very enjoyable stay. Our room was comfortable with a superb view of the cathedral from our balcony.
The location of the hotel was excellent; quiet but in a very atmospheric street with several decent restaurants a short walk away.
The staff were very helpful
Breakfast was pefectly adequate if not spectacular.
We would certainly go back, next time we are in Siena.

The room and the little balcony with a splendid view were nice. The bathroom is very small and uncomfortable. Breakfast, for an italian standard, was good. But plastic "glasses" for the orange juice? All in all good, but for this standard the price was a little bit too high.
