The first impression was not good. The room seemed tiny and the bathroom even smaller and the room hot and noisy. But once we got unpacked and figured out there was air conditioning, it was pleasant. Small, but we weren't in room much. The staff was very friendly, however the girls at the front desk during the day are the only ones who speak fairly fluent English. So brush up on your Italian. It is a GREAT location...close to train station and to centre of town and water. Also easy to get to many different areas w/in a couple of hours, so great place to have your "home base" if you want to travel that area...only a couple of hours by train to Lake Como, Pisa, Milan, etc. Cinqueterra is a must do and only about 20 minutes by train. I fell in love with the town...you get a real flavor of the "non-touristy" Italy. May is a GREAT time to travel to Europe, weather is great and crowds haven't arrived yet (except school trips!) For Americans, I would say this is definitely a 3 star property, but given the value of the dollar, it's worth it's price!

Very friendly staff, nice and clean hotel! beautiful lobby and breakfast area. the double room was very small, the triple room was nice. unfortunately it was a bit noisy at night from the street and from the bathrooms of the other rooms. the location was very good, close to the marina and the promenade! I would definetly stay in this hotel again!

After the description/appreciation read on Internet from other customers I was quite disappointed: the hotel was very noisy (no double glass on windows and very thin walls so we had noise from the road and from inside the hotel. The room was very small. Moreover the matrass of the bed was very hard so we didn't sleep well at all.
However the employees were kind and polite and the hotel area is nice. Breakfast was good.
Overall we found expensive for little comfort.

The hotel staff was really excellent -we were there for New Year's weekend, and they gave us a great recommendation for a New Year's party. Also, be sure to take advantage of the free hotel bikes and ride to Portofino - it is an easy ride along the coast. We were with a couple, and there was a bit of a difference in room sizes - our room was fairly spacious (Room 101), while theirs was much smaller but had a balcony (Room 203). The rooms were a bit pricey, but this whole area is just expensive.

A lovely 'old world' hotel with many elegant touches. Breakfasts were ample. Complimentary prosecco and antipasti reception for guests on Saturday evening. Large meeting room with TV, reading areas, etc. and reception areas with reading materials. Staff are attentive and kind.

My husband and I took an overnight jaunt to Italy during our recent French vacation and had the pleasure of staying at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious, especially compared to our rooms in France. Our room was clean, bright and had a lovely corner window view. They also have a wonderful terrace w/ a great view. The only negative was our room faced the main street which proved to be quite noisy with all the traffic coming up from the water. All-in-all, we'd stay here again.

Overall one of the best hotels we stayed in during 10 days of train travel in Italy, when considering location, cleanliness, price, service and quality of breakfast. I Would not hesitate recommending this hotel to friends. Easy walk 4 plus blocks from rail station and same distance to restaurants and shopping areas.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel and the area. The hotel really was only a 5 minute walk from the train station and very convenient to the rest of the city. Our room (310) was very clean and spacious with a little living room area. The hotel offered a complimentary happy hour on Saturday night in their garden patio which was very nice. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. We were given 4 star treatment so we really enjoyed our stay. (Review by Donna Corless. The Hotel was very well situated, short walk to the beach and retaraunts and shopping. Our room was on the street side and the scooters and motorcycles were a bit annoying at night but not terrible. The room was nice and had an extra bed for our daughter. We loved the town, Beautiful place!! Make sure to see the cathedral and the old fort. Great views.
The hotel staff was very friendly and spoke enough english to get us where we wanted to go. Breakfast was also very good.
Nice hotel ,great town!

This was my first time in Santa Margherita, and I only wish we could have stayed longer. They staff was beyond accommodating; they would offer to do things before I even thought to ask. The room was exactly as pictured. Although small, it had a great bed & pillows, fine linens, plush towels (as opposed to the oversized dishrags at our Rome & Florence hotels), a shower with good water pressure & plenty of hot water and two doors that opened onto a wraparound balcony. The breakfast buffet was lovely, and when we ordered drinks in the late afternoon, they brought us an assortment of appetizers. The town was not "touristy" despite having plenty of tourists. The hotel was a few short blocks from the water, and a great value.
