Staff was very helpful and location is very near the water. They speak lots of English. Hard to practice your Italian.
Our room looked out to a quiet neighborhood and church. The room was huge and had a small balcony. Wonderful!
for a great restaurant with wonderful food and people, go to Alfredo's just around the corner. Wood burning pizza oven plus great seafood.

This was our first time staying at Hotel Europa. The location was a little out of the way but turned out to be excellent. Easy walk to the water, the ferry and restaurants. Train station was not that close and taxi fare was outrageous. Hotel was very clean and great staff.

We were very impressed with Santa Margherita as a relaxed location after some hectic days in Rome. We could confidently let our son, 14 to come and go without him getting lost and we were able to swim and enjoy the lovely weather.
If you climb up the steps from the hotel you will find a lovely quiet park in which to enjoy the views.

well, it is a 2 stars hotel (although a bit expensive). That understood, the hotel is OK. The staff isn't helpful (didnt even help me with my luggage through the entrance stairs) and make no effort to be nice or welcoming. The room is just OK (have stayed in better ones and in worse ones). In the other hand, location is a a plus. It's about 400m of the see (although a part of it going uphill) and you can easily walk to the mainpart of Santa Margherita. It's also near the bus stop to Portofino. Breakfast is so so. All in all, I'd search somewhere else if visit the wonderful region again (probably a 3 star hotel...)

Great location to walk everywhere. Terrible and difficult entrance. Very clean, comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast and service. Friendly and helpful staff. No views, facing only apartments but worth it, being so close to all the sights.

Excellent hotel in a quiet location about a 5 minute walk to the harbour front and numerous restaurants and cafes. Very comfortable room with refrigerator and safe. Staff spoke good English and were most helpful.Reception on ground floor with rooms upstairs. 10-12 Euro taxi ride from station.

The 15 minute boat ride at four euro fifty to the wonderful village of Portofino nearby is sensational. Castello Brown above Portofino harbour is spectacular with usually a couple of exhibitions for four euro, but just the views are worth more. Camaglio, another short bus ride away, is extremely beautiful with another sensational ride across the hills to get there. Santa Margherita itself is nicer than Nice (That's Nice on the French Riviera).
The park and palace, Durazzo in the centre of town on a hill are the best kept secret on the riviera, the little coffee house there is cheap and excellent. Best breakfast location on the entire coast without a doubt (Don't tell too many of your friends, let's keep it low key. open from 9.00 a.m.)
Hotel Europa is pretty OK, the location is not that great but it is safe and central. The breakfast needs brightening up a little, and the coffee and tea are almost always lukewarm and pretty horrible (Give it a miss and go to Durazzo a ten minute walk away). The price is a little too high in general, should be about fifteen euros cheaper per night then it would be good value.
Cleanliness and everything else were spot on.
Not bad at all considering you're probably in one of the great beauty spots on planet Earth,
(That's Santa Margherita Ligure, God Bless Her).

The furniture in the room was very good and better than expected. The windows, the window shutter and the aircondition were also very good. On the other hand we were a little bit disappointed, that we had no german tv channel for following news/sport. But that was not so important. We had a very good stay in a nice location.
Thank you too!

O ar-condicionado funciona perfeitamente e é silencioso.

The description online is not 100% correct. First, there is no car park at all. They will advise you on where you can park your car on the streets. Second, there is a charge of an extra 10 EURO each night for air conditioning. Breakfast is not very good at the hotel.

Lovely place, good hotel, lousy weather! The room was excellent for 2 adults and 2 children - very large (with balconies) and very clean. Breakfast wasn't up to much (even by continental standards) - they even ran out of bread one morning! Reception staff weren't particularly friendly, but I'd have no qualms about coming back here as Santa Margherita Ligure is a lovely place, the hotel is a short walk from the town centre, and the room was great.

The price was really too high for the type of room we had. Our bed was made of two small beds and didn't a normal one.
For breakfast we had an instantaneous cappuccino and coffee, I could admit that in any other country but not in Italy!

This is a great 2 star hotel. Our room(s) had large windows with a walkout, wrap-around balcony. The location is in the heart of the town and you can walk everywhere. The breakfast was good and the staff was very nice and accomodating. We would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

The staff are great; the location is really nice--in a garden-like setting away from busy streets, but still very well situated in town (and with a nearby supermarket); the rooms have tall ceilings and stone floors and stay cool in July even without A/C; a very airy, solid, easy, and comfortable property; the only cautions were: 1) one fridge (out of the 3 in our 3 rooms) was not working; and 2) some nearby church bells make their presence very obvious starting at 630am. Still fairly idyllic. And Santa Margherita on the whole is a little bit of heaven.

Europa was OK!
Nice, clean, friendly.
The room, bathroom, bed, service, breakfast, location: OK.
We will stay there again, if we later will visit that area in Italy.
OBS:
If you arrive in car: Parking is difficult.

I have only good things to say about Hotel Europa. It may look like you get little value for your money, but considering how expensive hotels are in this place, Europa is a good deal. The staff is friendly, the location excellent: the hotel is situated in an alley just off the main street so it is close to the waterfront, yet still nice and quiet.

The hotel was nice and the rooms and bathroom were spacious and very clean. The owner spoke English, but there was a lot of construction noise and the free breakfast was marginal. Nonetheless, we had a fantastic time and thought it was an excellent deal for the price. The location was perfect because it was a short walk to either the harbor, the train station, or the walking trails to other towns such as Portofino (which we HIGHLY recommend!)

Photographs suggested there was a garden, however this was actually a small passageway outside the hotel, with plants in pots. Breakfasts were adequate, but there was not much variety, though probably OK for the price paid.

Overall a very good hotel, with spacious, clean rooms, new and luxurious washrooms, and a large bed. Service was friendly. Breakfast was of the Continental variety, with breads and jams. Unfortunately, the Italians haven't quite caught up to the Germans--who normally provide cheese and meats with breakfast--in this respect. Other than that, though, very good quality for the money, considering the locale (Portofino).
