Hotel Cocumella Sorrento - Venere.com exterior - entrance Not far from the town square of Sorrento, the Grand Hotel Cocumella was built in the 16th century as a Jesuit monastery and became a hotel in 1822. It is located in a large park that stretches down to the sea, offering panoramic views of the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.

The hotel's many amenities include a tennis court, banqueting and conference rooms, a chapel and a private ship for trips along the coast. The entire hotel is air-conditioned.

A wonderful hotel with excellent staff who do their utmost to please. Really old fashioned, good service. We walked from the hotel to Sorrento a couple of times. Takes approx 15 minutes - there is a small part without a footpath, but is not a problem. Taxis are readily available in the Main Square in Sorrento. We felt quite at ease even walking back late one night - we considered it safe and well lit. This is a first-class hotel, was very quiet and we were extremely comfortable.

Everything was excellent! Wonderful room and wonderful garden. Very nice with juice and marmelade made from their own orange trees.

Classic luxury european hotel in the old style! The only negative is that the room was small for the price.

Fabulous hotel. No beach, but sundeck. Great pool. Phantastic lunch buffet. Very good dinner restaurant. The famous Cocumella breakfast is not "famous". Little sparse. Needs more variety. Rooms need glass shower doors. Good central location to explore the region. Very helpful staff. Concert series in the attached church - free for hotel guests - is a must. Wonderful!!

It is a five star hotel that acts like a five star hotel. The hotel was fairly empty (late october) but we asked for some wine cheese and fruit to be brought to the table overlooking the Bay of Naples. They brought a wonderful selection, white table cloths etc. We could only stay one day but I would love to stay ther again during the busy season.

We stayed at the Cocumella hotel for 4 nights in a Junior Suite. The hotel is beautiful. The service however does not come close to a 5 star hotel service. The staff attitude is "take it or leave it". The last night we were without electricity the entire night (no air conditioning, no hot water, no TV, only cold showers), yet we were charged the full price of the night for services they did not provide and their attitude was "we're sorry,it is not our fault". Even the cab drivers know that the service in this place sucks, that's what one of the drives told us.

Take the A3 towards Salerno and exit at Castellammare di Stabia. The hotel is located about 10 km from the highway.

By train
The closest train stations are in Sant'Agnello and Sorrento.

By airplane
The Napoli Capodichino airport (NAP) is located 60 km from the hotel.
