Hotel Caravel was a pleasant hotel in a nice area. The rooms were clean, spacious and cleaned each day. We had a small balcony which was nice. Breakfast was good. We walked from the train station in Sant Agnello as directed when we arrived. It was stated the hotel was 250m from the train station, but it was quite a bit more! The footpaths are quite narrow and uneven avd as a result difficult to drag wheelie bags. The shuttle bus in to Sorrento was useful. There were also a few nice resteraunts near the hotel. All in all, a nice hotel in a good location with a well kept pool and sun terrace. I would reccomend it.

Hotel Caravel was located on a residential street not far from the bay of Naples. It is convenient to the Circumvesuviana Light Rail and public bus stops. Located in Sant'Agnello, Hotel Caravel provides an excellent base for visiting Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento, Capri, and Naples. Easily accessible by local buses, Sorrento provides a multitude of restaurants, shops and sight-seeing opportunities. While the hotel provides very comfortable lodging, it is a tourist hotel which caters to larger travel groups. Within walking distant are several restaurants which provide alternatives to the hotel's menu. I would stay at Hotel Caravel again and would recommend it to others.

Excellent hotel, plenty of sunning areas. Rooms wre spacious and clean (mind the ants)staff were very friendly and helpful. Only gripe was description of 250 metres from train station (St Angello), it is if you can fly over buildings, otherwise its a long enough walk with bags. Hotel is about 30 min walk from the centre of Sorrento, shuttle buses are available on weekedays.

Excellent for local festivals. Employees were very friendly and nice; while, front managers/personells were not helpful at all. i.e. Instead of showing us directions to the area, just told us to ask a close-by tobacco shop, etc.

Hotel Caravel met the expected standard and all the staff at the hotel were very service oriented with a nice personal twist. The bus schedule was not displayed at the bus stop for the buses leaving from the crossing Via Cocumella and Corso Marion Crawford to city center.

Nice, Clean, functional hotel. It would be a huge help if the Hotel could have a local Map with bus, train and ferry timetables. Also sell the tickets.

The hotel is situated in a comparatively quiet street in a suburb of Sorrento. The size of my room and bathroom (shower) was okay, everything very clean. There are rooms with small balcony, others without (mine without). On the downside: walls are very thin (so you get to know your neighbours). Breakfast was very good, staff was friendly and competent. All in all this is a good hotel if you want to explore the Gulf of Naples.

Decent enough place to stay, although nothing really special. Four star rating is pushing it. Price/value seems to be reasonable in the context of going rates. Folks should be well aware that this is a good deal more than a short walk to Tasso square (center of Sorrento activity) with corresponding logistical implications - particularly given the atrocious Sorrento cab fare prices (seems that the meters begin around 15 euros). Public buses are a viable option if people are so inclined. Hotel does have a shuttle bus which gets you closer (but not into) the center; however this only runs a limited schedule (don't know why) that ends early evening.

Very very pretty hotel on quiet pleasant street convenient to bus service. The garden and pool areas are delightful. One of the best breakfasts we had. We were very happy here. Only had two "complaints". The hotel is used by the big tour groups, so you have to arm wrestle at breakfast. The staff was OK but not as warm and friendly as we found at smaller hotels elsewhere in Italy.

Stayed nine nights at the Caravel. Excellent location for our planned visits to Pompeii and Hurculameum because of the promimity of the Circumvesuviana railway station in St. Agnello, just a five minute amble up the road. Sorrento is easy to walk to , takes about 15 minutes. Restaurant staff were excellent as was the food on offer in the evenings and at the time we stayed the hotel was offering evening meal for Euro 22 if you were staying on a B&B basis. I must also commend Massimo the barman for his Italian lessons, very very useful for someone with real beginners grasp of Italian like me.

Stayed one week, used as base for travelling around Amalfi coast and up to Monte Casino. Was good because didn't want beach holiday and hotel pool was very nice. Was further away from the centre of Sorrento than anticipated, but didn't matter because local bus and train services were good. Hotel was lovely and clean and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and so was the one evening meal we had there. I certainly recommend it and would use the hotel again when visiting the area in future - was very good value for money. We did quite a lot of site seeing and the hotel would have been a great base to do a lot more if we had more time to spend there. Driving in the area, especially around Naples, was quite stressful, but that had nothing to do with the hotel, which provided parking at an additional charge and worth booking in advance.

We had a nice stay at Caravel. The hotel is located close to Sorrento, just 20 min easy walking. The Local train is frequent and cheap, and a good alternative for excursions to Sorrento and Pompeii. Very good service an friendly staff. Small and clean swimmingpool in the garden. Highly recommended. If you look for a pizza in the neighbouhood on your arrival date, don't go to the restaurant up in the same street. Their pizza was the poorest we had in Italy, and the staff was only interested in selling their fish. E & J M

The standard rooms are quite small, but ok. The waiters were very service minded. The receptionists weren't as helpful as I think receptionists should be. The swimmingpool area is nice. The breakfast is very good. The same is lunch. Big portions and it is cheap!!

Cannot comment on the Caravel. They gave us the excuse that our reservation was lost due to their system being down. We reserved two months in advance and received a confirmation from Venere and Caravel that our reservation was accepted. Nor did I receive any email regarding a change in reservation before arriving. When we arrived, the receptionist informed us of this disappointment and said that they would shuttle us to their sister hotel, the Alpha. Needless to say, my friends were very upset and disappointed to find out that all their efforts in searching for a very nice hotel in Sorrento were bashed. They weeded out a number of possible hotels in Sorrento just to stay at the Caravel, and then to be told we were going to stay at the Alpha, which was not in Sorrento was a let down. So my comments and ratings refer to our NON-stay at the Caravel.

I was very pleased with the property and would highly recommend it. The staff was professional yet friendly...as were all the hotel personnel. I would most definitely stay there again. They have a great sun deck, pool area and bar area to relax at. They also offer a shuttle to Tasso square which is only about 15 min away on foot. A great walk....Also the train station is only about 10 minutes away by foot or you can catch a taxi...Great views too!!!!

The directions to hotel could have been a bit more clear especially from the highway (from Rome). The hotel is ideally suited to the traveler who wishes to stay away from the busier surroundings of the Amalfi Coast. Staff spoke English and were most accommodating. Sorrento does have the better restaurants, but the Caravel did recommend some very good ones nearby and in Sorrento. All in all, a very good accommodation for the price and my group was pleased and enjoyed themselves.

We got the train from Naples and got off at St. Agnello(one stop before sorrento), its only about 10 mins walk from here, directions on the confirmation e-mail would have been helpful but we asked a local and found it easy enough. The hotel is about 1.5km from piazza tasso not a long walk but the hotel does provide a courtesy bus(9 people a time and you have to put your name down for it). When you come out of the hotel and go right it brings you down to a terrace area with great views over sorrento and there is a restaurant there(with unimpressive food). We requested a double superior with a sea view. This put us on the 4th floor(top) with a good view towards vesuvius but we could not view towards sorrento bay and from what i could make out no other room could either. We could see the sea from our balcony but the hotel does have other buildings between it and the sea so its not a cliff edge sea view which are obtained in the more expensive hotels. For this type of sea view I think you would need a minimum of a third floor room The room was clean and adequate in size but i wouldnt say very spacious. The balcony was private but the cleaners didnt mop it when we were there. The staff were polite particularly the barmen. However the night porter was not polite or helpful to me in anyway when I asked him about parking facilities (which the hotel does have, €8 per night) i found out eventually, or about the on street parking. I had to go up to the st. agnello square where i asked a very helpful guy in a pizzeria. We had dinner in the hotel on our first evening there as the menu sounded good and at €21pp seemed ok value. However we were disappointed in the quality of the food and we also felt rushed. Dinner runs from 7pm to 8.30pm so we booked for 8pm. The waiters were setting up tables for breakfast as soon as people left after dinner. This could be normal practice but its not conducive to a relaxing meal for which italians are supposed to be famous. Howe

The hotels general appearence is good, however we found the rooms to be lacking that of a 4 star hotel. We had a very small room, a substandard bathroom and no fridge in the room. Breakfast is only served til 9.30am and is quite poor for a 4 star i.e. oraneg squash instead of juice, tinned fruits instead of fresh. However the pool was good and the staff friendly.

Stayed here for 1 week at the end of August and was very pleased with it. It was a short walk outside the centre of Sorrento but this was great as it gave us a chance to walk off all that lovely food! The hotel was spotless, the pool area was lovely and it was in a nice quiet area which was great as Sorrento could be quite noisy. It was also close to a nice terrace area which overlooked the Bay of Naples to it was nice to stroll down in the afternoon/evening for a drink. Would definately recommned the Hotel Caravel for cleanliness, helfulness and most importantly, price. You would be hard pushed to get a better deal in this area

Good services in general but with had troubles with the first room we had (215): noisy room in the staircase and neighbour behaviour (slaming doors, fighting with his wife ?...) during the 4th night. I changed and had a smaller room but a little bit more quiet. I asked in my reservation a nice view from my room and didn't have. I complain to direction for the noise and the view but they didn't care answering that : 1. "All the rooms are the same. A room is a room for us!" "We don"t know if there is a more or less noisy room!" "We don't have any room with a view on the sea" (wrong! some rooms have view on the Naples bay and vesuve). 2. "We are not responsable for the clients behaviour if they make noise" 3. "We have special low rate prices at this period! we won't do any reduction for your troubles..." I had a 5 minutes discussion with the director and was really disappointed by his non commercial attitude regarding to clients that were coming for the first time, changed their room because of noise troubles. I quit with the feeling that my problems haden't been taken in account. very unpleasant!

A very pleasant hotel to be, and near to a restaurant with a beautiful view over the Golf of Naples. The only thing that could be improved is the location of the single rooms. As always, they were situated on a spot in the hotel with a bad view, although the price per person is at least the same as the price per person for a double room.

Very nice hotel in area just outside of Sorrento. Very nice pool area, nice restaurant/bar area, large lobby, spacious rooms (unusual for European hotel). Excellent location in a residential area (St.Agnello) of Sorrento. Ten-minute walk from train station in St. Agnello (Transvesuviano) and 15 to 20 minute walk to the center of Sorrento. Very quiet, peaceful setting. Very easy to take a cab to station or to Sorrento. They offer a full-course dinner each evening for 21 euros--a good value! My only suggestion is that they put a fridge in each room because the bar closes early. Lovely setting, good service, quiet location. I will definitely return.

This hotel is excellent value for money. The level of service from all staff is very impressive, courteous and efficient at all times. The breakfast was exceptionally good and plentiful. Swimming pool and public areas very thoughtfully designed and well maintained. Room was exceptionally clean but not particularly spacious and our terrace was only big enough for one chair! Would recommend requesting a room above the first floor level as terraces are then big enough to accomodate two. We were directly over the main entrance area and there was quite a lot of early morning noise so again would recommend requesting a room at the pool end of the hotel. Having said this it did not spoil our stay in any way and we would definitely recommend the hotel and will stay there again. It really is a high standard 4 star and excellent value for money.

We stayed here for 2 days at the end of May. The hotel is very nice and the rooms are very clean and spacious. The hotel is located about a 20 minute walk from the center of Sorrento. The hotel does have a free shuttle service that you have to sign up for. The breakfast is standard. We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant there but we did find a restaurant just down the street towards the sea. It was called Ristorante Margherita and it had the best service I experienced anywhere in Italy during out 2 week trip. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I ever return to Sorrento.
