The Touchstone hotel is a small, intimate property of 42 rooms in San Francisco's historic theatre district, just steps from Union Square, the shopping, entertainment and cultural center of the city.

Family owned and managed for over 50 years, The Touchstone is the perfect blend of old-world charm, new-world convenience and small-world comfort.

The hotel is located in the same building of the world renowned David's Delicatessen, San Francisco's most celebrated delicatessen since 1952. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The registered guests of the hotel receive a 10% discount off all items on its regular menu (except daily specials).

    The San Francisco hotel it's self was what we expected, functional and clean just off city centre at a reasonable rate with good quality breakfast facilities. But after a long flight from England, the six of us didn't expect to be standing on the street pavement locked out of the hotel at 9.30pm with no one on the reception desk. The only contact number we had was a telephone answer-macine that was of no use. I ended up forcing entry with some returning hotel guests that had a reception door key.I Managed to raise the manager after knocking on several bedroom doors to be told when he would returned to reception after he has dressed,which he did to tell us he had only one room, not three as my cofirmation showed! His response to my plight was "Don't make a problem for me, take it or leave it! We took it and our four friends walked the surrounding streets to find two more rooms which cost them three times as much. With proof of our confirmation this was a poor attitude, he should have offered to call surrounding hotels for availability. Lessons we learnt, if you book on the web don't trust the confirmation page without checking direct with the hotel management. The manager next day showed me his paperwork he had faxed to Venere stating he had only one room available against my 3 room request. The venere paperwork clearly stated 3 rooms confirmed. I don't know who was to blame for our desasterouse start to the USA holiday.

    By car
    From the south take the 101 north to the I-80 east, exit at 4th street and at the bottom of the off-ramp, go straight, onto Bryant street. Take Bryant to 3rd street, turn left on 3rd street. Take 3rd street until you cross Market street, then turn left onto Geary street. Follow Geary street until you cross Mason street. The Touchstone hotel is located on the right side of the street, nearly at the end of the block.
    From the east, take the I-80 west across the Bay Bridge. Exit at 5th street. At the bottom of the off-ramp, turn left onto 5th street. Take 5th street to Bryant street, turn left on Bryant street. Take Bryant to 3rd street, turn left on 3rd street. Take 3rd street until you cross Market street, then turn left onto Geary street. Follow Geary street until you cross Mason street. The Touchstone hotel is located on the right side of the street, nearly at the end of the block.
    From the north, take the 101 south across the Golden Gate Bridge. Take the 101 south onto Lombard street. Take Lombard street to Van Ness avenue, right onto Van Ness avenue. Take Van Ness avenue to Bush street, turn left onto Bush street. Take Bush street to Mason street, turn right onto Mason street. Take Mason street to Geary street, turn right onto Geary street. The Touchstone hotel is located on the right side of the street, nearly at the end of the block.

    By airplane

    METHODS OF PAYMENT
    Venere.com does not debit your credit card for your reservations. You will be asked to insert your credit card details which will be sent to the property only as a guarantee of the reservation. The bill will then have to be settled directly at the hotel. In case your chosen hotel needs a deposit, this information will be included in the "Cancellation policy" section and the deposit will have to be settled directly with the pre-selected property. You cannot cancel your reservation if you selected and booked a non refundable or prepaid rate.

    Check-in: the rooms are available from 4 p.m. Guests planning to check in after 9 p.m. are kindly asked to notify the hotel one day prior to arrival.
    Check-out: it is necessary to leave the rooms not later than noon.

    CANCELLATION POLICY
    Cancellations must be made by 4 p.m. (16:00 h) local time the day before the arrival date. Late cancellations and no shows will be charged the cost of one night's room rate.
