Our traditional and friendly 5-star Hotel is situated in the midst of an unique environment-in the heart of the old part of Salzburg city-and only few steps away from the Mirabell Palace and Mirabell Gardens, Mozart's residence, the Salzburg local theatre, the famous Getreidegasse, the festival area and many other cultural attractions.
Apart from all the modern comforts offered by the 5-star Hotel, there are still small reminiscences of old hotel traditions.
We can book your Salzburg city tours or country excursions and organise travel with a Fiaker (coach), a wedding coach or an old-timer Cadillac-or organise a complete package, with everything included.

The Hotel Bristol is located in the Makart Square, named after the Salzburg painter and "magician of colours" Hans Makart (1840-1884). Originally at this site, at the end of the 16th century, Archbishop Wolf Dietrich built a palace with garden for his brother Rudolf Hannibal. Till the end of the 19th century, the square, surrounded by the Church of the Holy Trinity, Mozart's residence, the birth place of the physicist Christian Doppler and the local theatre, was known as Hannibal Square.
After the death of Hans Makart and in memory of this famous Salzburg painter, the Hannibal Square was renamed Makart Square.
The Bristol was built around 1890. According to witnesses of the time it was the first hotel on the right side of the river Salzach to be equipped with electric lighting.
In the more than 100 years of history of the hotel, the guest book is naturally filled with numerous prominent names. The period spans from Emperor Franz Joseph I. or Sigmund Freud up to Ricardo Muti.

OVERALL GREAT EXPERIENCE. EVERYTHING IN SALZBURG WITHIN ENJOYABLE WALKING DISTANCE. OLD STYLE CLASSY PLACE. THOUGH OLDER IS WELL MAINTAINED. WE LIKED THAT. HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVEN AFTER WE VISITED THE OTHER 2 MORE EXPENSIVE AND SUPPOSEDLY "BEST" PROPERTIES IN TOWN.

Our stay at the Hotel Bristol was wonderful. From the girls at the front desk, to the bellhop, to the bartender, everyone was friendly and helpful. This hotel is a perfect place to stay if you want to experience the charm of Salzburg. Our room was spacious with tall windows and a modern bathroom, yet it had centuries old romantic charm. Mirabelli is literally right behind the hotel. The walk to old town is very short. You cross one street (passing the Hotel Sacher) and then walk across a foot bridge to old town.

Four day/three night stay in Salzburg, first time visitors celebrating wedding anniversary. Lovely city and surrounding area. Easy to walk around, very friendly, good restaurants and bars and nice and relaxed. Bristol is an old hotel but service is top notch and staff have the perfect blend of unobtrusive, friendly and efficient service (I travel with work a lot so feel able to comment). Decor is traditional but fresh looking. Rooms are very big and bathrooms excellent (especially for an old hotel). Breakfast also very good, buffet style with wide choice and good quality. All in all, Salzburg is an excellent place for a relaxing short break, and the Bristol a fine hotel from which to enjoy it.

The Bristol is a pure gem. It was beautiful, historic, clean and extremely comfortable. The staff was anxious to please and succeeded quite well. The location was perfect for seeing the sights, dining and musical entertainment. The breakfast was delicious and nicely presented in a room of overhead crystal. The owner interacted with her charm and thoughtfulness and helped to make Salzburg our favorite destination. I can only rave about the Bristol and their friendly staff.

We spent a very comfortable, and quiet two nights in the Bristol Hotel. The staff were very friendly, and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel to anyone requiring a 'Classy' hotel within easy reach of the main attractions of the lovely city of Salzburg. Definitely five star !
