Hotel Amadeus has a wonderful location in the "new town" just a short walk from the Salzach River and the "old town". It was also a very short walk to Mirabel Gardens. Our party of 5 stayed here for 5 nights in three different rooms. The first two nights, my husband and I were in a room (#12)facing St. Sebastian Church, which is right next door. We found this room to be very noisy at night, as there is a bar just across the street, and noisy patrons talked and yelled until about 4 AM. The bells of the church, though lovely, rang riotously at various intervals, most notably 7AM. We requested a room change to a room facing the cemetery, and this room was peacefully quiet for the next three nights. The breakfast is generous and varied and is served in their lovely "restaurant". The free internet access in the lobby was appreciated by all of us. The lift was a great convenience, as some of us were on the fourth floor. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Amadeus.

We stayed in the apartment (which is two rooms not separated by the doors. Generally it would be perfectly adequate for a couple, or a family with the older children. There are a few things though that need to be mentioned here - at 7am expect your first full set of the bells' music (the church is next door), no child locks on the windows (so a 3 year old could easily climb from the sofa onto the window cill while you are in the shower), no lock on the door on the inside, so, again, if your child is prone to wandering at night, - make sure to move the wrought iron bench to block the doorway. However, when my husband was taking ill on the last day, - the staff was very sympathetic and allowed to stay past the checking out time while waiting for the doctor to arrive (almost 2 hours past!). The location is very good - right in the centre. Plenty of places to eat around the hotel.

We had a nice stay in Salzburg, our room had two bedrooms with a renovated bathroom, very nice and tidy. This was great for us as we were a family of four. The motel was very close to everything we needed (laundromat, supermarket, restaurants, etc). Our room was right next to the church but the bells did not bother us, we found it to be a beautiful sound as we don't have this where we are from (they were actually faint). The breakfast was good and adequate, probably one of the better we had around Europe.

Right in the heart of the town! Excellent hotel but right next to a church. If you don't mind the bells ringing every 15 minutes then it's ideal for those who do not wish to spend a fortune on accommodation. Close to all sights -walking distances, even to the fortress-.

The Amadeus is a very nice hotel with friendly staff. It's is just a 5 minute walk away from the centre of Salzburg. The receptionist was very helpful, and the restaurant recommended by her (Goldene Ente) was one of the highlights during our stay in Salzburg.

We liked this hotel very much. A great location quite close to the centre. A nice friendly tavern next door. On the down side the church bells are noisy and there is a night club about 200 metres away which is a bit rowdy at a closing time. Apart from this the hotel has our full recommendation.

We wanted a city centre location and the Amadeus was close to all attractions and situated in a lovely pedestrian area in the heart of Salzburg. The staff were welcoming, helpful and accommodating at all times. Our room was huge and had a fantastic recently refitted bathroom which was spotless. Continental breakfast was good and plentiful. Car parking near to the hotel can be a problem as quite expensive at 18Euros for 24hrs. Overall we would highly recommend the Amadeus and would revisit without hesitation.

Good location and pretty much everywhere was walkable. Our room was in the front, so was very loud with FIFA revelers, cafe customers and the church bells. Breakfast was plentiful and in a very nice breakfast room. The internet kiosk in the lobby was an added plus.

We had a lot of rain and I asked twice for the radiators to be switched on so that we could dry our clothes. This couldn't be done.
Tea and coffee facilities should have been available in the room.

Amadeus was an excellent hotel in a great location. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was substantial. The hotel is an outstanding value and we would definitely stay there again when we return to Salzburg.

The location, service and breakfast service were all good, as expected. However, when you are paying London prices for a 3 star hotel in Austria, I expect a shower. Some money would also be well spent on general refurbishement of the rooms and common areas.

My single room was quaint and charming, with two windows, one in the bath (street side) and one in the sleeping room (courtyard), practically unheard of in European hotels. My only complaint was that the bed was quite hard, but the hotel staff provided additinal duvets to make the bed more comfortable.

For the price this hotel must be very hard to beat. Location scored 11/10. Before booking we saw a review referring to a)noise from street sweeping and b)church bells so asked for and received room to rear and floor other than 1st - experienced no problem on either count, but have a feeling we wouldn't have wherever we had been placed. Sweeping streets in the centre of town! outrageous! Peels of bells from churchs! how dare they! The Amadeus has a feeling of history, quaintness, all facilities required without frills and is perfectly positioned. Hard to see how a stay there could be spoiled.

This hotel was on a mostly pedestrian street, with several good restaurants and shops nearby. It was charming! They had a computer set up by the front desk to send free emails which we took advantage of. There was also a laundry near by (albeit expensive) but we were ready for some clean clothes. Our room had a huge bathroom with 2!!! sinks. It had the typical tub with hand held sprayer, but we got used to those as we traveled around Europe. We liked the location a lot and would definitely go back again.

The location of the hotel is excellent. It is very nearby to the old town. We took by taxi from the train station to the hotel which ic costed below Euro$7. The choice of the breakfast is great. The staff is great. I just only like to point out that the spaciousness of the room is small.

This is a nice hotel. Other reviews mentioned noisy bells, but this didn't bother us at all. One tip: Get to breakfast early, as when they run out, they do not replenish. We were never served coffee either. But good location and nice room.

We stayed in the family apartment with our two college age sons. The hotel is quaint and has a nice character. We had two very large bedrooms and a bathroom. The rooms were very nice and spacious and bright. The hotel is in a great location near restaurants. Our rooms were on the street side and there is no air conditioning so the street was quite noisy in the morning with the windows open. The breakfast offered plenty of choice and our sons were happy. We would definitely stay here again. The staff was very helpful. Very good value for money.

Our first floor room overlooked the street with an outdoor restaurant. Since it was summer and the days were long there were often people talking till late. Morning deliveries were sometimes noisy. There was a small safe supplied in each room which we found convenient and free intenet access was available in the lobby. Breakfast excellent, staff helpful and considerate.

Although the hotel was all we expected and the location was good, nothing prepared us for the church next door with the chiming bells beginning at 7am each morning or the street clearning lorries which started at 5.30am each morning. Ok if you want to be early risers every day.

Staff very friendly and germanically efficient, well located a few minutes walk from everything we wanted to see. Very pleasant small but adequate room at the back of the hotel overlooking a church courtyard. There were no surprises. As other reviews note - you cant sleep through the church bells at 0700, - but your in Salzburg - its time to be up and doing anyway. To hear birdsong from the garden was unusual and made up for the bells.
I would have liked to be there longer, and would happily stay again

The Amadeus was in an excellent central location. The bells from the church next door didn't bother us at all...it rang at 6 a.m. but it was good since breakfast began at 7 a.m. It was a good landmark that we were getting close to our hotel when we went out. Their breakfast was terrific, scrumptious, with such a variety and in an aqua room with bunny accessories - very charming.
The access to the internet was great, we took a cab from the train station. We could walk to everything we wanted to see.
As soon as we arrived, we booked the 2 p.m. Sound of Music Tour which began 20 minutes later. Sabine was of great help, very knowledgeable and always smiling. I'm glad we stayed there. The only thing being on the 2nd floor, our bathroom window looked right into the street and if you used the toilet or took a shower, if the blinds weren't drawn, I'm sure you could be seen as it is a very high traffic area. Other than that we were highly satisfied.

We had a grand time in Salzburg and the Amadeus was so very nice for us. The staff was so kind and very helpful in recommendations about the area and restaurants. It is located on a beautiful pedestrian street and the only noise we heard were the nearby church bells, which was no problem for us. We had the family rooms and it was huge. All in all we would highly recommend this hotel in Salzburg

We spent Christmas at the Amadeus and enjoyed it a great deal. We had requested a family apartment and thought that it would be two connecting rooms. Instead we were in one (very large) room, with an anteroom. That was the only very minor negative. Bathroom was also very large, staff was friendly and helpful both to us and other guests. We corresponded via email with the hotel and they had made dinner and concert reservations for us in advance of our arrival. We also needed to get laundry done over the Christmas weekend - as everything was closed the housekeeping staff did it for us for a very reasonable price. Excellent breakfast included in the price. Noise from the church next door was not a problem. Night clerk at front desk had limited English, but tried hard.

We would stay here again. Funky dining area, excellent continental breakfast. Courteous staff. Great location. A room facing the street may be a bit noisy during the peak season, but offers a window onto street activity.

I very much enjoyed my stay at The Amadeus. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent and the single room was clean and comfortable. Though the double room was OK in acoutrements, it was on the small size in relation to similar pensiones in Austria and Italy on this trip. The bathroom was a tight squeeze on a good day. The convenience of having e-mail access in the lobby, however was terrific. The deal-breaker was the bar across the street, full of vociferous patrons late into the night into morning....not the hotel's fault but something to take into consideration when choosing a restful place to sleep. St. Sebastian's church is next door and they are fond of pealing their bells at 7:00am.

Our only complaint was that, although we booked six months ahead, when we arrived there was no triple room for us. This meant that we have to sleep in two separate rooms the first night, then move into a (very nice) quadruple suite. Since there was no extra charge for the larger room, this worked out OK, but it was not a great welcome on a rainy evening. Also because of this the hotel inadvertently only charged for three nights and I had to point out to them that I owed an additional night.
The major noise issue is the church bells next door, which start at 6AM. But you get used to it, and the church has been there a lot longer than the hotel!
But on balance I definitely recommend this hotel.
