Hotel Avenida - Salobreña

A convenient coastal resort easy to reach following a short break in Granada. The Avenida Hotel is situated between a garage and supermarket but is convenient for the old town and the new resort area which has no hotels but many apartment blocks.

The only issue was the view from our room, there was an extension being built and our room backed onto this. Apart from at the weekend, the town was quiet and relaxed, and even then not ridiculously crowded, just what we needed!

Pros: very spacious and well furnished rooms, beautifully decorated and clean public areas, friendly staff, free Internet terminal in the lobby, jacuzzi at the roof (although cold...). Easily accessible by car, has a private parking for 8 euros a day (although there's plenty of free parking on the street). A big supermarket just few steps from the hotel. Cons: the distance to the sea beach is definitely not 200m as advertizes, it's about 10-15 mins of walking - about 1km distance. The breakfast is HORRIBLE - for 5 euros you get a small cup of coffee/tea, two tiny dry croissants, some jam and rotten butter! Avoid!

We booked the hotel for one night through Venere.com for 50 Euro. What a nice surprise it was. The hotel is beautiful inside. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathrooms are equipped with contemporary appliances. The only minor disappointment was the breakfast for 5 Euro (including IVA) per person. It consisted of a cup of not-so-great coffee, small wine glass of orange juice, a few little pastries and butter that went bad a long time ago. All three of us were disappointed and hungry. But breakfast options outside of the hotel are numerous, so if we were to stay there for more than one night, we would just go somewhere else next morning. Still, the hotel is great. It is located between two supermarkets, and is a walking distance from the beach and sightseeing.

As in many parts of Spain (also touristic) not all of the employees do speak English. That is not too problematic, only at the arrival...

The Avenida was a very nice family run hotel and excellent value for money. My only negative comment would be was that as we were out of season we were not able to eat at the hotel apart from breakfast - it would have been nice to have at a snack or dinner availabilty. I would however certainly recommend this hotel to any of my friends or family.

A small, but really nice hotel. Don't hesitate to go there. Salobreña is a really nice place to visit. Enjoy!

This hotel is shown as two star. I am not sure who allocates these ratings but I would suggest that the Avenida, although small, should be rated three star at the least. We were very pleasantly surprised by what we found, as shown in the markings given above and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to others.
