3 days stay - reception staff welcoming, the room we were given was not made up so they gave us another which was a dark room at back with the ducting outside window.Arrival day was a Holy Day - most restaurants were shut - would have helped had reception told us which were open - it took two hours to find one! Breakfast staff very grim and not at all happy. Having said that the room was comfortable and bathroom clean. You do get the feeling they think the English won't complain and we didn't.

we stayed in the monterrey for two nights while in salamanca attending a wedding. the only good point of this hotel is it's central location in the city. the staff were disgraceful here. they didn't seem interested in whether we were happy or not, had attitude problems and even at one point completely ignored us while having a telephone conversation to her friend (one of our party speaks spanish) and we are by no means a fussy family. communication was difficult as it seemed like no member of staff had any english. the only "public area" was the bar/breakfast room and the small lobby. the rooms were standard yet clean and comfortable but there were no facilities to make tea or coffee. there was no ironing/cleaning service and when an iron was eventually brought to the room, no ironing board was brought with it. we were not made feel welcome here. friends of ours stayed in a hotel between the roman bridge and automobile museum and i would recommend to look there.

I've stayed at this hotel once before, many years ago. It's one of the clasic hotels in Salamanca. For the price I paid I didn't expect to have the best room but I think they could have been a little more generous. The room was quite small and very bare. The part of the hotel where the room was seems to be where they put the travellers that book through internet, have a discount or have something like Bancohotel. The walls in some parts were quite dirty and the rest in need of general redecoration. On the positive side, it's about 20 mts from the main pedestrian streets and 3 mins walk from the Plaza Mayor and about 5 mins walk from all the main monuments.
