Hotel Sous les Figuiers Saint-Rémy-de-Provence - Venere.com exterior - entrance Hotel Sous les Figuiers, which has opened its doors two years ago, lies in the heart of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, in a calm neighborhood offering a peaceful and silent atmosphere, an ideal location in the heart of Provence, close to numerous art cities and natural reserves.

This small charming hotel, fully renovated, offers 12 extremely comfortable bedrooms, whose elegant and refined decoration recalls the contemporary Baroque style. Ten rooms feature a private terrace and garden, shaded by centenary-old fig-trees. Their unique scent invites guests to take delightful siestas, exhaling a typical Mediterranean atmosphere.

If you wish to learn how to paint trompe l'oeil, patina, or frescoes, individual or group classes can be arranged, for a day or week. One of the hostesses is a quadrilingual artist (speaking French, English, German and Dutch) who will be happy to settle a workshop for you. Exhibitions are featured, and regional, national and international artists come regularly.

This hotel is a little place in paradise, cosy, finely decorated and most of all extremely welcoming.

This charming hotel exceeded our expectations, the photographs do not do it justice. The hotel captures the ambience of Provance with it's simple yet tasteful furnishings and decor. We originally booked the smaller room without a deck, through a mix-up we ended up in room number 8, which was amazing. We were very happy to be in the larger room with a veranda that overlooked the small courtyard with fig trees, it was beatiful and very peaceful. The room itself was fabulous, great bedding, no tv, which we did not miss. The room was painted by the owner with wonderful faux touches that greatly enhance the room. A large bathroom that contained a bathtub, which we appreciated after a cold day in St. Remy. We were there in Nov. and experienced the Mistral winds, which later found out is common for that time of year. No matter what the forecast, we advise bringing warm clothes, the winds make a 50 degree day feel like your in the artic. We did have the breakfast, which we felt was overpriced. Market day is on Wednesdays, we found lots of great bargins in the town square. If you go to St. Remy we highly recommend staying at Hotel Sous les Figuiers.

One could spend much more on a room and get much less. Sous les Figuiers is a lovely, peaceful place. As soon as one drives in to the parking area relaxation sets in. Conveniently located steps from the St Remy ring road, this is an ideal place at a reasonable rate.

Sous les Figuiers is by far the most delightful "hotel" we stayed in during our recent ten-day trip to France. It simply could not have been nicer. Our hostesses were lovely, the surroundings were so pleasant and quiet and the large, private rooms have a rustic atmosphere. If you are looking for thick carpets, this isn't your place, but for excellent, simple accommodations, Sous les Figuiers is unique and charming. Very Provencal!

Poor quality of service, disappointed regarding the relationship between price/quality - very cold water in the swimming pool - not enough towels (we were 5 in the bedroom) - high prices for the breakfast (9 euros per people to eat on the terrasse) - very small cupboard in the bedroom to put clothes - no door to the shower : after a shower, there was water everywhere in the bathroom !
