Hotel Belem is located close to the centre of Saint Malo, the City of the Pirates, in the marvellous French Brittany region. The hotel is built in stone, wood and slate, according to the local architecture.

All year round, th city of Saint Malo hosts exhibitions, congresses, festivals and has wonderful beaches. Thanks to hotel location, the city of Jersey, Cancale, the Mont Saint Michel, Dinam and Cap Frehel are all easy to reach.

Although the description sounds as though wifi is available in all rooms, only certain rooms have it. If you care about wifi and a non-smoking room, be sure to specify this in advance to make sure it will be available. There is also a policy of no food or drink in the rooms and we prefer to be able to have coffee or tea and a fridge available for cold drinks. I can understand the owners not wanting people to cook in their rooms, but to not feel like a snack or drink is possible seems too restrictive. Otherwise, the rooms were spacious and clean. The strength of the Euro to the dollar made this 2 star a bit over-priced, but this is more about the current exchange rate than the hotel rate itself. We would consider staying at this hotel again.

HOW TO REACH THE HOTEL

By car
The hotel is located at the entrance of Saint-Malo. Coming from Rennes, take the first exit on your right, direction Saint-Malo centre, Cancale. At the Anciens Combattants roundabout, take the first road on your right close to the Mercedes franchise dealer (direction Chateau-Malo/ Saint-Etienne). You will find the hotel on your left hand side after 800 metres/0.5 miles.
